Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the profile of pathogens isolated among patients admitted to an intensive care unit of a major urban Moroccan city that presented nosocomial infection during their hospitalisation. Results: During the study period, 34 patients developed a nosocomial infection during hospitalisation in ICU. The mean age of patients was 42.3 ± 18.3 years (range: 18.0 - 86.0 years) and 68% were males. The main diagnoses were multiple trauma injuries (47%) and thermal burns (18%). In terms of morbidities, 9% of the patients presented diabetes. The most common sites were central line-associated bloodstream infection (38%), bloodstream infection (35%), ventilator-associated pneumonia (32%), urinary catheter-related infection (29%), and soft tissue infection (21%). Most frequently isolated pathogens were: Acinetobacter baumani (25%), followed by Klebsiella spp. (12%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (8%), coagulase negative Staphylococcus aureus (6%), E. coli (6%), Providencia spp. (6%), Enterococcus faecalis (6%), Raoultella terrigena (4%). Conclusion: The bloodstream was the most common site and Gram-negatives were the most commonly reported causes of ICU infections. The incidence found was high, the mortality was strong, corresponding with that of developing countries. These results will allow to set up a targeted pro-gram of prevention and to estimate the efficiency of interventions.","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70635060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective was to assess the effect of Covid-19 on the frequency of prenatal consultations (PNCs) for pathological pregnancies at the Abass NDAO Hospital Centre. Materials and Methods: This was primarily a retrospective study conducted at the Abass NDAO Hospital maternity ward. The target was the medical records of women followed for a pathological pregnancy at maternity from July 2019 to November 2020. Second, the department’s qualified staffs were asked about their experiences with the Covid-19 pandemic. Data collection was carried out between October 2021 and February 2022. Results: A to-tal of 690 prenatal charts for pathological pregnancy were collected: 375 (54%) before the pandemic compared to 315 during Covid-19 (46%). The average age of women was 28.15 years. The age group 25 and 35 was the most represented (36.81%). Reasons for consultation were 38% of health providers. Protective equipment was not provided to 14% of the staff. Staff difficulties during prenatal consultations were fear of occupational exposure (12%) and patient reluctance (88%). Conclusion: The Co-vid-19 pandemic is having a major impact on prenatal consultations for pathological pregnancies at Abass NDAO Hospital. Effective measures must be taken to avoid the consequences of maternal mortality and the functioning of the structure.","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70635289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this quality improvement project is to describe our hospital’s experience achieving zero coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) deep incisional and organ/space SSI incidences from October 2016-July 2021. Methods: To prevent CABG deep incisional and organ/space SSI incidences our Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Department along with the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Department established SSI prevention bundle elements, continuous education, and monthly audits. Results: From quarter one of 2015 through quarter three of 2016 there were three deep incisional or organ/space SSI cases out of 317 CABG procedures. From quarter four of 2016 through quarter two of 2021 there have been 625 CABG procedures, zero of which developed into deep incisional or organ/space SSI incidences. CABG SSI prevention bundle element compliance ranged from 88.2% to 99.6% and operating room environment of care compliance was 94%. Conclusion: Our results show overall improvements in our quarterly CABG SSI SIR from quarter one of 2015 to quarter two of 2021. This experience demonstrates the importance of complying with SSI prevention bundle elements, education, and auditing in reducing and maintaining zero CABG deep incisional and organ/space incidences for over four years.","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70634462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Biomedical waste represents an environmental concern and a risk to healthcare workers, users of healthcare services, and the surrounding population. This study aimed to assess the management of solid and liquid biomedical waste in University Hospitals Centers (UHC) in Togo in 2021. Methods. This is a cross-sectional, evaluative and analytical study undertaken in 2021. It involved 3 UHCs, 25 departments, 340 care providers and departments randomly selected, 72 directors or deputies, supervisors and heads of departments, 27 collection and incineration agents selected by a reasoned choice technique, and 44 patients and attendants selected by an accidental choice technique. Data analysis was done using Pearson’s Chi 2 statistical test for comparing proportions and logistic regression. Results. Solid and liquid waste management was “poor” due to non-use of waste management guidelines (ORa = 3.50; p = 0.0000), insufficient training of healthcare providers and collection agents (ORa = 6.55; p = 0.0000 and ORa = 6.08; p = 0.0000","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70635105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, literature on patterns of violence in juvenile prisoners is limited. Method: In order to explore how subjects engage in violence while incarcerated in the juvenile prison system, the authors will examine both proximal and distal predictors of violent behavior among juveniles in custody. This study adds to the current empirical research by longitudinally examining dynamic risk factors of recurrent violent behavior across a population of juvenile prisoners (Mage = 16.21; 94.8% male) in custody in the Romanian juvenile justice system, starting from their entry date until the end of the follow-up period (Me = 2 years). Results: Results from a series of repeated aggressive events survival analyses show evidence of a long-term deleterious association between pre-incarceration risk factors and poor developmental trajectory associated with violence. Adherence to destructive conduct in prison was consistently influenced by low ability to cope with the prison environment, although education level and family factors also mattered. Implications for prison professionals and forensic practitioners are presented. Conclusion: Recurring aggressive behavior is frequent for individuals who experience complex adverse experiences during childhood, suggesting that screening youths upon their admission into juvenile justice settings should include an assessment of their basic self-regulation needs. A greater focus on longitudinal studies may help improve the screening process and also follow the progress of each juvenile to warrant the efficacy of preventive programs in self-harm, according to their emerging","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70634672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
