The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiological pro-file and the clinical and aetiological characteristics of childhood heart disease at the Hôpital de la Paix in Ziguinchor. Method: This was a retrospective study from 1 January 2016 to 1 June 2020 in the cardiology and paediatrics departments of the Hôpital de la Paix in Ziguinchor. We included in the study all patients aged 0 - 18 years, hospitalised with heart disease confirmed by cardiac ultrasound. Results: In total, we included 57 patients in the study. The hospital prevalence was 1.6%. The average age was 67.85 ± 65 months. The predominance was male with a sex ratio of 0.96. The majority of mothers (50%) were between 15 and 30 years old. In our study, 8.85% of patients had a history of previous angina. Trisomy 21 was present in 12.35% of our patients. Severe acute malnutrition was found in 21.05% of cases. Lower limb oedema (82.4%) and dyspnoea (59.6%) were the most frequent clinical signs. On cardiac ultrasound, 52.6% of patients had congenital heart disease and 47.4% of patients had acquired heart disease. Ventricular septal defect (33.33%) was the most common congenital heart disease. Among the acquired heart diseases, mitral insufficiency predominated with 70.8% of cases. Infective endocarditis was the main complication observed. Management was mainly drug-based with diuretics and ACE inhibitors. No patient had undergone surgery. The in-hospital evolution was favourable in 85.9% of cases and the mortality rate was 10.5%. Conclusion: Our study showed that congenital heart disease was more frequent than acquired heart disease and that management, particularly surgery, was lacking.","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70634741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, little remains known about this indicator since the Ebola epidemic crisis was over. This epidemic has been reported to decrease utilization of maternal health services. This study aims to determine the coverage and factors associated with four or more antenatal care visits in Guinea in the post-Ebola context. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study using secondary data from the most recent (2018) Guinea Demographic and Health Survey. Women aged 15 to 49 years constituted our study population. Our sample included women who had their most recent birth over the last 24 months preceding data collection and whether or not they had performed 4 antenatal care (ANC) visits. Factors associated with performing four or more antenatal visits were assessed through a multivariate logistic regression analysis using Stata software version 15.1. The final model was constructed using the bottom-up stepwise method. Hosmer and Leeshawn’s goodness-of-fit test was used for model specification. Results: Among the 2634 women in the sample, 41% had four or more ANC visits. Factors associated with attending four or more ANC visits included education level, poverty quintile and region. Women with a secondary or higher education were 44% more likely to attend four or more ANC visits (OR = 1.44, 95% CI = [1.07 1.92]. Those whose spouses had secondary or education level were 1.66 times more likely to attend four or more ANC visits. Women from moderately wealthy households were 76% more likely to attend four or more ANC visits (OR = 1.76, 95% CI = [1.30 How to cite this paper: Soumah, A.M., Balde, M.D., Camara, B.S., Kourouma, K., Diallo, A., Sall, A.O., Toure, A.O., Diallo, R., Camara, S. and Cherif, I.S. A vaccine breakthrough infection is the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA or antigen in a specimen collected from a person ≥ 14 days after receipt of all recommended vaccine doses. Kwekwe City experienced an increase in breakthrough cases from one case (12 June 2021) to 39 cases (7 July 2021). The study was conducted to determine factors associated with breakthrough infections. Methods: We conducted an unmatched 1:2 case-control study. A case is defined as a patient who had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had a positive SARS-CoV-2 antigen/PCR test at least two weeks after the date of receiving the second dose of the vaccine in Kwekwe City from June 12, 2021. An interviewer-administered ques-tionnaire was used to collect data. We used the Epi Info software to generate means, frequencies, and proportions, to calculate measures of associations that include odds ratios. Results: Fifty-four cases in the records met the case definition for breakthrough infections, and two had died giving a case fatality rate of 3.7%. Fifty-one of the remaining 52 cases and 102 controls were re-cruited. have breakthrough infections. Those who had breakthrough infections had overall poor knowledge of COVID-19. Non-pharmacological interventions such as mask-wearing, social distancing, and frequent hand washing protect against having breakthrough infections. We recommended that residents get continuous education on the transmission, control, and prevention of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The elderly should get booster doses of the vaccine.","PeriodicalId":71174,"journal":{"name":"流行病学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70634579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
