After insertion of the dental implants, they can be subsequently prosthetically restored through a wide range of implant-supported prosthetic restorations. In this material, we tried to highlight some particular aspects from the point of view of the laboratory stages of dental technique, which intervene in the technological flow of making implant-supported prosthetic restorations from ceramic masses on Zirconia structure.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"71 - 74"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48645681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Chavda radiological classification identifies three types of trajectory depending on the depth of penetration of the loop at the level of the internal auditory canal. The article presents the case of a 26-year-old patient admitted to the ENT department for left ear sudden sensorineural hearing loss and dizziness. The 3D Fiesta-C axial sequence MRI shows the presence of the vascular loop inside the internal auditory canal, without exceeding half of it. The hearing loss had an unfavourable evolution, without recovery after treatment with steroids and vasodilators. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss may be a consequence of the presence of the vascular loop in the internal auditory canal. The prognosis for recovery from hearing loss is poor if the loop is at least type II.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"65 - 66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46419639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to develop an integrated health data management tool, that aggregates data from various sources, which are in various formats. With the aid of artificial intelligence (AI), this data will be processed and will help healthcare professionals be aware of the improvements that could make the healthcare system be more preventive, predictive and personalized. This paper introduces an integrated medical information management system – that intends to manage medical activities in hospitals, clinics and laboratories and describes its development and future directions of improvement. Furthermore, it presents a smart analysis tool that can generate both statistical data, but also infer additional information from the medical records based on natural language processing (NLP), image processing and machine learning. The novelty of the system is that it gives an overview of the patients’ medical record, statistical analysis, examinations results and interpretations. Furthermore, the system is trying to predict the evolution of a disease, based on previous medical records.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"30 - 33"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45160250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A long-term, reliable, dependable, and safe method of repeatedly accessing patient’s blood is one of the most difficult challenges for haemodialysis therapy. The best method to date to accomplish vascular access the arterio-venous fistula (AVF). This segment can be accessed with dialysis needles, providing blood for dialysis. We present a case of a 57-year-old man was diagnosed with an end-stage renal disease and occluded distal radial artery. The cephalic vein was transposed and looped in a tunnel created in the volar aspect of the forearm’s subcutaneous tissue with the end to side anastomosis with the proximal radial artery in the antecubital fossa. The fistula matured in 40 days and the flow volume was 1100 mL/min. He continues his dialysis sessions and is included on the national kidney transplant list.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"33 - 35"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48244824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The etiopathogenetic mechanisms are admittedly multifactorial, debatable and not marked by promptness. Despite the aesthetic, most of the symptoms are direct results of the compression which occurs on the adjacent anatomical structures. Because of their characteristic appearance, patients with this condition can be clinically diagnosed, during the information-gathering process or while performing a physical exam. So far, the treatment of choice was surgical resection, leading to a well-pleasing outcome and reducing the risk of recurrence.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"36 - 40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41995735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research group has been composed of 210 subjects, from both urban and rural areas, having periodontal pathologies and disorders of the glucidic metabolism. In order to obtain information about the orodental health condition as well as the orodental hygiene, we have applied the questionnaire method, this being well individualized and adapted to be relevant to the present study. Following the statistical analysis of the results, it appears that the subjects of the research group show a more pronounced periodontal pathology comparative to the control group. The study results highlight the importance of dentists’ knowledge of diagnostic techniques, treatment and prevention of orodental pathologies on patients with diabetes.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"59 - 61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41535961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is the gold standard technique for assessing left and right ventricular function; the major advantage of CMR is the possibility of tissue characterization, highlighting the replacement of myocardial fibrosis (late gadolinium enhancement - LGE technique) and the interstitial and perivascular reactive fibrosis (mapping techniques - T1 mapping, T2-mapping, T2 * -mapping). Myocardial fibrosis pattern helps to establish the DCM aetiology and has prognostic and therapeutic implications. LGE presence is associated with a weaker therapeutic response and an increased risk of complex ventricular arrhythmias. At the same time, LGE absence associated with the presence of reactive fibrosis quantified by mapping techniques and especially by increasing myocardial extracellular volume, identifies patients with potentially favourable response to optimal drug therapy and cardiac resynchronization therapy.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"26 - 29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42987964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of our review was to summarize recent data published in the scientific literature upon the conversion rate from arthroscopy to total arthroplasty in patients with knee osteoarthritis. We conducted a search of scientific articles discussing the association between arthroscopy and total knee arthroplasty in patients with osteoarthritis, using PubMed/Medline databases. The following parameters were evaluated: age and gender distribution of the patients, indications for arthroscopy, conversion to arthroplasty, time interval between the two procedures. We concluded that the current literature underlines the poor efficacy of arthroscopy for degenerative meniscus and cartilaginous pathology. The high rate of progression to knee arthroplasty, especially among older patients with comorbidities should determine specialists to evaluate the risks and benefits associated with arthroscopic surgery in these cases.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"41 - 44"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48112824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the 26th of February, 2020, the first confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported in Romania. On the 16th of March, the President of Romania declared The State of Emergency. The following day, by Order of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs medical students starting with the 4th year of study were to be recruited, on a voluntary basis, to support activities in the Emergency Rooms, if needed. Numerous medical students volunteered. The medical students were exposed to online learning and the possibility of being recruited as volunteers in COVID-19 units. In April 2020, we created and distributed an online survey via www.psysafe.org, which collected data on demographics, personal status of infection, and general mental health, including medication and substance use, sleeping problems in the previous week, perceived stress in the previous month, and burnout in the previous two months. We translated and adapted 2 questionnaires to assess the COVID-19 related anxiety and fear. The participants were Romanian medical students. Data was statistically analysed with SPSS 20. Out of 550 surveys filled, we analysed 545 valid surveys. The mean age of the respondents was 21.66 (±2.55) years, with 81.7% female (445) and 18.3% male (100). 91.6% of the respondents declared that they were never diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. Coffee was used on a daily basis by 53.8% of the students, with tobacco coming in second in 19.4%. Female students perceived a higher level of stress and showed a higher level of burnout. Female students scored higher for the anxiety and fear related to Covid-19. Medical students with mental health history scored higher on perceived stress, burnout, anxiety and fear related to COVID-19. Perceived stress indicated a level of moderate stress regardless of the mental history status. For all students, the burnout value indicated that some attention was needed, as they might had been candidates to burnout. Moreover, students diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder during the pandemic showed signs that they were on the road to burnout, with changes needed to be done at the time. There were statistically significant positive correlation, of various degrees between perceived stress, burnout, anxiety and fear related to COVID-19, with the strongest one observed for the perceived stress and burnout, in Romanian medical students.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"5 - 10"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47569818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
