These factors have not, however, been examined dynamically in terms of day-to-day, lagged and reciprocal effects during normal training. This study investigated the dynamic interplay between muscle damage and energetics in male boxers during a short training block. Thirteen amateur boxers were monitored over 16 consecutive days during early-season training. The participants were assessed each morning for plasma CK, urea, glucose, and creatinine (days 1 and 16 only) concentrations, before self-reporting muscle soreness (1-10 scale). Within-person contemporaneous (lag-0) and temporal (lag-1) networks were estimated using multilevel vector autoregression. Muscle soreness, CK, urea, and glucose presented different trajectories with training, but with some heterogeneity reflecting within-person variances (47% to 78%). The contemporaneous network yielded a significant positive edge (or correlation) between CK and soreness (r = 0.44), along with negative CK-glucose and glucose-urea edges. More significant edges emerged in the temporal network, with soreness linked to CK (r = 0.19), glucose (<i>r</i> = -0.28) and urea (<i>r</i> = 0.22), whilst the CK-glucose edge sign switched. In summary, daily fluctuations in muscle damage and energetic activity, which presented in a normal physiological range, were highly variable among boxers during early-season training. Within-person networks indicated some interrelatedness between CK, soreness, urea, and glucose, although the nature and presence of these relationships were contingent on temporal ordering. These inconsistences reflect the pleiotropy of energetic biomarkers in training and recovery.</p>","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"24 1","pages":"69-75"},"PeriodicalIF":5.6,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10765437/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71064852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: 71 individuals with primary hypertension were compared with 84 normotensive individuals on the DECAS personality inventory, assessing the five basic dimensions of personality according to the FFM. Results: Agreeableness and emotional stability were associated with hypertension (p-0,0001 for both). Hypertensive individuals showed low and very low agreeableness and emotional stability whereas normotensives scored medium and high in these two dimensions. Lower emotional stability was a risk factor for hypertension (OR=4.51, CI 95%=2.18-9.35). There were no significant differences in openness, extraversion and consciousness between hypertensives and normotensives (p>0.05). Conclusion: Individuals with low emotional stability/high neuroticism have more than fourfold increased risk of developing hypertension.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"835 ","pages":"14 - 17"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41315890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These doctors do not follow the classic model of the medical professions, of doctor-patient direct interaction, with predilection in case of disease, but use complex methods and tools, usually applicable to the general population, vulnerable communities or groups, or health services, by which they analyse the health problems of those groups and figure out ways to ensure the most appropriate response from the health system, implicitly from the state to these problems, by virtue of the constitutional right to health care.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"1 - 2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47079119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the newborn, n-3PUFA are involved in the formation of membrane phospholipids in the retina and grey matter influencing vision and neurogenesis. The purpose of this review is to study literature data regarding n-3PUFA intake in vegan pregnant women, with beneficial effects and supplementation possibilities. The conclusions of our study confirm the benefits of the vegan diet in pregnant women, as long as nutritional deficiencies are carefully managed through the administration of appropriate dietary supplements.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":" ","pages":"34 - 36"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43599746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hypothyroidism (through iodine deficiency) can be one of the main endocrine causes of poor mental and somatic development in children. The data obtained after palpation and ultrasonographic determination of thyroid volume in two groups of children (6-12 years) with small stature from different areas of Sibiu County, a submontane area (endemic) and a hilly area (non-endemic), show statistically significant differences between the values obtained for the two groups. Goiter was present in over half of the children living in the endemic area, a statistically significant percentage, higher than that obtained for the hilly area; thyroid volume values were statistically significantly higher compared to those of non-endemic area. Thyroid volume correlates positively and statistically significantly, both with the auxological indices of children (height and body mass), but especially with their age.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"47 - 49"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47737756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to mandatory social distancing and the lack of effective treatments, telemedicine has become the safest interactive system between patients, both infected and uninfected, and clinicians. During this period, all patients, with acute or chronic conditions, need ways to obtain medical attention other than going to Emergency Room (E.R.) or to the clinic. Telemedicine has been an effective approach for COVID-19 management as it allows to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and provides support to remote rural location. The most optimistic forecasts could not anticipate the impact that a pandemic will have on this medical field, whose financial implications exceeded all expectation.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"24 - 26"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42929231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bleuler first introduced the term schizophrenia. He also pointed out the importance of the patient-doctor relationship and underlined the role of affectivity, division and turning away from reality for the psychopathology of patients suffering from schizophrenia. With this he created the cornerstone on which the integrative treatment of schizophrenia rests to this day. The complex integrative course of treatment of patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia will be showed in a specific forensic context. In forensic treatment, the legal prognosis is of central importance. A reduction in the increased risk of recidivism for criminal offences can only be achieved if the patient’s mental health is improved and stabilized.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":" ","pages":"27 - 29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47309654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have evaluated the epidemiologic factors for prematurity in Obstetrics Clinic of Sibiu city. We have analysed the epidemiology of 649 preterm babies between 2012 and 2019 in a III grade Maternity Clinic concerning general maternal information, pregnancy pathology and delivery. We have found significant differences between single and multiple pregnancies and between natural conceived pregnancies and assisted reproductive techniques conceived pregnancies concerning the maternal age, number of cortisone doses, modality of delivery and significant differences between normal conceived and assisted reproductive technique conceived new born related to maternal age and pregnancy and labor fetal presentations dystocia. As a conclusion, prematurity is induced by high blood pressure, pregnancy bleeding and infectious complications. Emergency teams develop an adapted response pattern dependent on the type of the call that jeopardize the quality of pre-hospital action. Materials and methods: Statistical analysis of SMURD national database on a period of 3 years out of which the average ambulance time of response was calculated for different pathologies, time intervals and type of ambulances. Results: Rescue teams speed their way to an emergency such as road accidents trauma but have a slower response for calls like unconsciousness and respiratory failure. When a cardiac arrest (dispatched as “possible cardiac arrest”) is called, the time response improves by 15%. Conclusions: Emergency Medical Service (EMS) response pattern is built upon experience and encountered dramatic situations and not necessarily as a result of objective medical condition.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"21 - 23"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47885751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
