The data of this cross-sectional study were collected from students studying at a vocational school of a university in Turkey. Data were collected with the “Data Registration Form”, “UCLA Loneliness Scale”, and “Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support”. As a result of this study a high level of loneliness was determined. This study revealed that the gender, the place of residence, the status of receiving scholarships/loans and the education level of mothers significantly affected loneliness perception levels of the students. Another result of this study was that there was no significant relationship between the total score and subscale scores of the multidimensional perceived social support scale and perception of loneliness.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"7 - 10"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45564893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims at addressing the following questions: “Should they be stopped before the procedure?” and “What is the correct protocol to follow while ingesting DOACs?” There are presently no dental treatment standards for patients using new oral anticoagulants, and bleeding management recommendations are mainly based on professional opinions and clinical observations rather than well conducted studies or laboratory results. Some of the first DOACs were rivaroxaban, apixaban, edoxaban, and dabigatran. DOACs are now being used to treat patients who were previously taking conventional anticoagulants, and as a result, more dentists will be treating DOAC patients. There is currently no validated monitoring test for estimating bleeding risk in DOAC patients, and the dental literature is primarily on case reports and expert opinions. Prior to dental treatment, it is uncertain whether the DOACs should be continued, partially discontinued for 1 day, or fully interrupted for more than 2 days.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"69 - 71"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45714119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to analyse how the fertility rate has evolved demographically since the communist period and until now in Romania. In order to carry out this study, we analysed the data provided by Macrotrends regarding the fertility rate in Romania from the last 71 years (more precisely 1950-2021). The results of the study indicate that, in 1950 Romania had an average fertility rate of 3.25 children per woman. It gradually declined until 1965. In 1967, the number of births doubled to almost half a million new-borns in just 1 year. Such a rate has never been reached, the fertility rate being in a continuous decline until now.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"3 - 6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41595167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With all currently available therapeutic options, the mortality rate in these patients remains high. Our study included 29 patients diagnosed clinically with sepsis. A control group was used to compare the results. In all patients, p53 expression was assessed in cardiac tissue obtained from these patients and a statistical correlation was made with clinical data. The different expression rates of p53 do not correlate with patient’s age, having appropriate means in years, but with an increasing tendency with increasing expression (p=0.2110). The pulmonary infections are responsible for the majority of the septic state in the study group (over 55%). The difference between the infection sites is statistically significant (p<0.0001).","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"45 - 47"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43383477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quality of life is characterized by a person’s perception of his/her social status and the activities he/she carries out in daily life, in relation to his/her standards, objectives, concerns and expectations, as well as the system of values and cultural conditions within he/she lives in. Objective: The objective of this study was to systematically review the dental literature to identify and classify relevant articles on the quality of life associated with the oral health of patients rehabilitated with implant-supported prostheses. Materials and methods: A systematic search of the literature on PubMed was performed for articles published between 2000 and 2021. The main method used was the electronic search using keywords such as: “quality of life”, “dental implant”. The articles found were subject to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Following a systematic search, a total of 249 publications were identified, of which only 9 met the inclusion criteria. Discussions: A small number of studies were found to meet the inclusion criteria and to present high levels of evidence. Therefore, more research in the field is recommended, as current research on quality of life in patients rehabilitated with implant-supported prostheses is still in the development phase. Conclusions: The quality of oral health could have an impact on patients’ daily lives and dental satisfaction (satisfaction with dental appearance, pain perception levels, oral comfort, functional performance and chewing capacity). Patients’ satisfaction with their dentition has a definite impact on the quality of daily life and perceptions of oral health.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":" ","pages":"1 - 5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46180308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The following biological data: BMI, blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, low HDL cholesterol levels were statistically compared using the ANOVA test. To assess the impact on quality of life, patients in both groups completed the EQ-5D-3L questionnaire. To verify the statistical confirmation of the results we used the Chi 2 test. In order to correlate the results with the gender and age of the patients, we formed the following age groups 45-54 years, 55-64 years, 65-74 years and over 75 years. We found that the dimensions that affect the quality of life differ depending on the age group as follows: in the 55-64 age group pain / discomfort predominates p = 0.009 and in the 65-74 age group the mobility and self-care dimensions p = 0.043 predominate. We did not obtain statistical confirmation by the Chi 2 test in patients with metabolic syndrome and the variable blood pressure Chi 2 = 5.27 and p = 0.072","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"18 - 23"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44437680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children with lower respiratory tract infections can presents severe forms, which is why early diagnosis and treatment are essential. Choosing the therapy is made according to the etiology, but at the time of admission it is difficult to establish the etiology of the disease and for this reason, most often, it is decided to initiate the antibiotic therapy. Excessive antibiotic prescription, in cases that it is not justified, is really a problem because it contributes to the increase of antimicrobial resistance. A study was conducted in order to limit the hypothesis of prolonged antibiotic therapy, which also prolongs the duration of hospitalization. By anticipating C-reactive protein and procalcitonin levels we could guide or reconsider the antibiotic treatment.","PeriodicalId":7091,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Transilvanica","volume":"26 1","pages":"42 - 44"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46738540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
