This paper investigates the interaction between an electromagnetic field and cold-sprayed coatings produced using an induction heating cold spray (IHCS) system. It also investigates the role of the initial substrate surface temperature. The soft/hard material combination was used for depositing pure aluminum on Ti64 substrates. To assess the performance of the IHCS technique, deposition efficiency and adhesion and tensile strengths were used to characterize the hybrid technique. The results were compared to the traditional CS process. It was observed that the IHCS tensile samples exhibited almost three times the average elongation at break obtained by the traditional CS process. Intra-particle surface fracture was found in the samples produced by the hybrid process.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74075285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taguchi method was employed to optimize the spray parameters (ethanol flow rate; oxygen flow rate; powder feed rate and standoff distance) to achieve better erosion resistance at 90° impact angle. The results indicated that ethanol flow rate and oxygen flow rate were identified as the highly contributing parameters on the erosion wear loss. The important sequence of the spray parameter is ethanol flow rate > oxygen flow rate > standoff distance > powder feed rate. The optimal spray parameter (OSP) for minimum erosion wear loss was obtained under ethanol flow rate of 28slph; oxygen flow rate of 420slpm; powder feed rate of 76.7 g/min and standoff distance of 300mm. The phase composition; microstructure; hardness; porosities; and the erosion wear behaviors of the coatings have been studied in detail. Besides; erosion wear testing of the optimized coating was conducted at 30°; 60° and 90° impact angle using air jet erosion testing machine. The SEM images of the erodent samples were taken to analyze the erosion mechanism.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75505831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The oxygen permeability can control the TGO growth kinetics and thus could play an essential role in determining EBCs life. Therefore; the oxygen permeability constant of YbDS and TGO is systematically evaluated and quantified in terms of thermodynamics using defect reactions and the parabolic rate constant (kp); respectively. Dry oxygen and wet oxygen conditions as well as different temperatures; partial pressures and top coat modifiers are investigated. The results offer evidence that the oxygen permeability constant for the YbDS top coat is an order of magnitude higher than for the TGO. As such; the TGO hinders the oxidant diffusion stronger; proving to be the diffusion rate controlling layer. Moreover; water vapor strongly increases the oxygen permeability with defect reactions playing a key role. It is suggested that the mass transfer through the top coat is primarily by outward ytterbium ion diffusion and inward oxygen ion movement; with the latter being dominant; particularly in wet environments. The effect of top coat modifiers on oxidant permeation is composition sensitive and seems to be related to their interaction with oxygen ions and their mobility.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90374942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this present study, Cu was cold sprayed onto CFRP substrates that were coated with either Sn (cold spray) or Ni electroplating. Two layers of Cu powder were also cold sprayed onto a Cu-plated CFRP substrate to investigate the effect of a second particle layer on impacting particles. Test results showed that the relative hardness between the particle and substrate has a major effect on deformability, impact mode, and deposition efficiency (DE), which explains why Cu could not be cold sprayed onto Sn or Ni interlayers and why the deposition efficiency of Cu-on-Cu substrates is lower than that of one pass spraying. In summary, the results suggest that Cu can be successfully cold sprayed at low pressures onto electroplated Cu due to their similarity in hardness.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"50 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86119464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is thus the motivation to develop a process that produces smooth, near-net-shape carbide coatings. This contribution is an investigation of WC-12Co coatings obtained by suspension HVOF spraying. Significant work was devoted to the development and characterization of water-based hardmetal suspensions synthesized from commercially available WC and Co powders. The suspensions produced were sprayed using the HVOF process, and the resulting coatings were evaluated based on microstructure, hardness, and phase composition.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"119 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89368038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When exposed to environments with high humidity, the water absorption of the ceramic coating has a tremendous impact on the electrical insulation. In thermally sprayed ceramic coatings, water can easily be absorbed by the porous microstructure of the coating. A general result of the water absorption is the reduction of the dc resistivity. However, in the high frequency regime of ac loads, contrary results were observed for sealed Al2O3 coatings on steel substrates. Specimens exposed to high air humidity have shown an increased ac resistance compared to dry specimens if frequencies above 1 MHz are considered. To analyse this phenomenon, a novel measurement technique was developed to investigate the influence of the water absorption of detached ceramic coatings on the ac resistivity at high frequencies. Moreover, the water absorption of the ceramic is measured gravimetrically. To ensure the results are also applicable to ceramic coatings on substrates, the morphology of the coating was analysed using electron microscopy and compared to reference specimens deposited on steel substrates from [1].","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82087326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The microstructure and mechanical properties of deposited coating sprayed at three typical impact velocities before and after heat treatment are investigated. Furthermore, the deposition and strengthening mechanisms of the coating sprayed at various impact velocities are clarified. The results show that the coating with higher density and mechanical properties can be successfully fabricated by cold spray at comparatively low particle impact velocity. The mechanical properties were enhanced with the contribution of heat treatment process. It is the in-process tamping effect induced by larger powder that results in the severe plastic deformation thus leads to densification and excellent mechanical properties of the cold-sprayed Al coating.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80194816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For distinguishing general features, two-dimensional molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are applied to study associated phenomena. The nanoparticles are assumed to have original sizes of 10-300 nm and to impact the substrate at velocities of 100-800 m/s. The applied Lennard-Jones potential for the modelled nanoparticles were adjusted to mimic the mechanical properties of TiO2-anatase. For small particles, the simulations reveal three different impact behaviors of (i) rebounding, (ii) bonding and (iii) fragmentation based on initial size and impact velocity, whereas, the larger ones do not show the bonding behavior. The upper limit of the bonding regime shrinks with increasing particle sizes, the field then diminishing for the largest ones. The different impact phenomena were analyzed by evolution of the stress, strain and temperature fields. Stress and strain field results showed that “localized inelastic deformation” occurred at particle sites spreading from the interface to the substrate to the particle core. Calculated temperature fields show a local rise of around 1200 Kelvin due to the inelastic deformation, which is probably sufficient for thermal activation of further deformation features.","PeriodicalId":70745,"journal":{"name":"热喷涂技术","volume":"122 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75905738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
