The hydrogels were loaded with curcumin (Cur) to prepare pH-responsive intelligent medical dressings. The preparation process of the hydrogels was optimized by a single factor and response surface expe-riment using their swelling degree as an index. The structures of BC/PAA pH-responsive hydrogels were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometer (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and tensile tester, and the swelling properties, mechanical properties, bacteriostatic properties, and drug release behavior were investigated. The absence of surfactant in the nanoprecipitation technique allows capturing particles with a smaller diameter than nanoparticles containing surfactants, facilitating the migration of antioxidant nanoparticles in film packaging. Biodegradable PLA nanoparticles with clove oil were produced and characterized by dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, retention efficiency, cytotoxicity, and antioxidant activity. The particle sizes obtained were smaller than those commonly produced by nanoprecipitation, monodispersed and stable for 6 months. The antioxidant activity showed that the encapsulated form of clove oil had greater antioxidant activity than unencapsulated clove oil. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of thermal shrinkage of the extruded sheet on the mouthguard thickness depending on the amount of undercut of the model. Mouthguard sheet was used a 4.0 mm thick eth-ylene-vinyl acetate resin manufactured by extrusion molding. The sheets were placed in the vacuum forming machine with the sheet extrusion direction ei-ther vertical (condition V) or parallel (condition P) to the model’s centerline. The working models were three hard plaster models trimmed so that the angles of the anterior teeth to the model base were 90˚, 100˚, and 110˚ (Models A, B, and C). The sheet was softened until it sagged 15 mm, and then suction was continued for 30 s. Measurement points of the mouthguard were the incisal portion (incisal edge and labial surface) and molar portion (cusp and buccal surface). The differences in the reduction rate of the thickness due to model form and extrusion direction were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Bonferroni’s multiple comparison tests. Differences in thickness depending on the extrusion direction of the sheet were observed in Models B and C on the labial surface and in all models on the buccal surface, and the thicknesses obtained under condition P were significantly thinner than those obtained under condition V. The microhardness of the troostite layers is 450 HV; the carbide layers reach 950 HV. It is shown that such a banding structure in hardness will have a huge impact on the formation of a naturally patterned genuine Damascus structure. It is established that the form of the main drawings of the genuine Damascus pattern consists of separate elements of the topographic contour: hollows, hills, saddles, crosses and wavy dunes. It is shown that the damask pattern is a set of individual elements of the macrostructure alternating in a disordered form on different local areas of the surface. It is established that the destruction of genuine Damascus steels occurs under the action of two or more mechanisms, during the implementation of which traces remain on the surface of the fractures in the form of relief details of a mixed type. The mechanisms of mixed destruction are a combination of intragrain cleavage, micropore fusion and intergrain cracking. It is established that in order to implement the mechanism of separation of the main crack in the direction of the chopping blow, an optimum is required in the dispersion of troostite (61.8%) and carbide (38.2%) layers in genuine Damascus steel, the ratio of their volumes obeys the golden section rule. It is established that the damask pattern, consisting of elements of sinuous lines of a topographic contour, does not significantly affect the level of mechanical properties. The thin films were deposited on soda-lime glass substrates using the Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition (MOCVD) technique at the deposition temperature of 370˚C and 390˚C, respectively. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to determine the functional groups in the precursor, with stretching frequency for O-H, N-H, and C-H observed. The deposited films were characterized using UV-Visible Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Elemental diffraction X-ray (EDX), and X-ray Diffractometer (XRD). A direct bandgap of 3.15 eV and 3.18 eV was obtained from the film deposited at 370˚C and 390˚C, respectively, using the Envelope Method. In comparison, a bandgap of 3.19 eV and 3.21 eV was obtained using the absorption spectrum fitting (ASF) method. The SEM revealed that the film is homogeneous, dense, and compact, composed of cluster grains. The EDX confirmed the presence of Zinc, Nitrogen and Oxygen.
