This study focuses on the identification of the thermal performances of hollow concrete blocks used in Salé City, Morocco, using the 1D-approximate suggested in EN ISO-6946 [1]. An iterative algorithm based on the equivalent thermal resistance network is described and applied to hollow structures. It should be noted that the heat transfer through the hollow blocks is coupled with conduction., natural convection., and radiation. Firstly., the thermal properties of the basic materials used as input to the numerical calculation were estimated based on experimental methods. In this context., the present work is intended to contribute to a better understanding of the feasibility of using Multilayer wall technology in order to achieve potential energy savings and acceptable thermal comfort condition for the six Moroccan climate zones. The obtained results show that the thermal insulation system must be applied to comply with the requirements of the RTCM.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"68 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85734956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But it can also be hot and polluted. Urban Heat Islands (UHI) and poor air quality are two phenomena that threaten city dwellers around the world, with major consequences on health, economic activity and the environment. This paper aims to investigate both the intensity and the relationship between UHI and air quality in the city of Casablanca. More specifically, we analyze air temperature, Total Column Ozone and PM10 concentration in three different locations in the city between 2015 and 2018. While the correlation of these factors does not prove any causal relationship, it does suggest that they may share common causes.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81449578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The monitoring of the microalgal growth was carried out by the measurement of optical density, cell concentration and pH measurement. The culture was carried out under fixed operating conditions, as temperature, gaz flowrate and light intensity. The obtained specific growth rate during exponential phase of cultivation was 0.167 d-1. After a continuous photoperiod of two weeks, the biomass was valorized through its lipids content (an average value of 20%). The obtained results reveal the presence of a wide variety of fatty acids that are essential for conversion into biodiesel. Also, a better understanding of the behavior of the studied microalgae during its culture in torus photobioreactor was provided.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81739061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Type -2 Fuzzy Logic Control method (T-2FLC) is proposed to control the WEC system. In order to demonstrate its tracking performances, this technique is compared with the classical PI Control method. Several tests are performed in Matlab/Simulink software to show the performance criteria of each controller for tracking the desired references of power under unfavorable changes of the parameters of the control system. Thus, the simulation results show perfectly the robustness and accuracy of the proposed control approach T-2FLC of tracking the active and reactive power. The model is based on the use of Time Series Time-Delay Neural Networks. A type of networks considered to be one of the most straightforward dynamic network, which consists of a feedforward network with a tapped delay line at the input. The designed prediction network model showed good performance, as shown in the calculated mean squared errors (MSE) for the testing data set is about 0.4149, and its correlation coefficient R is about (0.99). The correlation of the predicted error with time showed that almost all the autocorrelation function values fall within the bound of the confidence interval.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80913589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To solve this problem, adaptation of buildings to control of thermal comfort and its impact on their energy consumption is a solution considered. In building envelope, technical improvement of the window goes in this direction. From simple glazing, practically no more used in Europe, to double glazing, four times more thermally efficient than the previous one, triple glazing is used now, the most insulating of the three. Because the magnitude of climate change depends mainly on greenhouse gas emissions, a comparative Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) between a uPVC double and triple glazed window is carried out in this study. But rather than using a conventional Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), we use a Dynamic LCA (Dy-LCA) because giving more realistic results by introducing the temporal dimension. Indeed, the contribution of each gas to the greenhouse effect is determined by the characteristics of that gas, its abundance, and any indirect effects it may cause. For example, the direct radiative effect of a mass of methane is about 84 times stronger than the same mass of carbon dioxide over a 20-year time frame but it is present in much smaller concentrations so that its total direct radiative effect is smaller, in part due to its shorter atmospheric lifetime. To take into account temporal dimension, ESPA (Enhanced Structural Path Analysis) method, coupled with Open LCA software, is used in this research work. So, a Dynamic Life Cycle Inventory (Dy-LCI) is determined and analyzed for these two products.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78464138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
