Thermal Performances of Hollow Concrete Blocks based on ISO Norm Calculations
Hollow concrete blocks are the most commonly used materials in building construction due to several factors, including their lightweight, mechanical strength and low cost. This study focuses on the identification of the thermal performances of hollow concrete blocks used in Salé City, Morocco, using the 1D-approximate suggested in EN ISO-6946 [1]. An iterative algorithm based on the equivalent thermal resistance network is described and applied to hollow structures. It should be noted that the heat transfer through the hollow blocks is coupled with conduction., natural convection., and radiation. Firstly., the thermal properties of the basic materials used as input to the numerical calculation were estimated based on experimental methods. In this context., the present work is intended to contribute to a better understanding of the feasibility of using Multilayer wall technology in order to achieve potential energy savings and acceptable thermal comfort condition for the six Moroccan climate zones. The obtained results show that the thermal insulation system must be applied to comply with the requirements of the RTCM.
