The electron gun which could create a sheet electron beam with thickness 0.05mm and width 0.4mm at waist position is used. The simulation result shows that the transmission current in the tunnel with 0.09mm thick and 1.2mm width is 15mA with 100% transmission. The sensitivity of such detectors can be in part limited by the low-frequency noise. Here, we report on the characterization of the low-frequency noise of graphene field-effect transistor THz detectors in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 1 MHz. The room-temperature Hooge parameter is extracted to be around $2times 10^{-3}$. The voltage responsivity at room-temperature and the corresponding minimum noise equivalent power at 0.3 THz are estimated to be 11 V/W and 0.2 nW/Hzo.5, respectively, at a modulation frequency of 333 Hz, which shows comparable results with other detector technologies.","PeriodicalId":6653,"journal":{"name":"2018 43rd International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz)","volume":"76 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80151350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is proposed to use a spirally bent rectangular waveguide on fundamental H10mode as an electrodynamic structure of the tubes. Unlike existing designs on wavy bent waveguides, the proposed schemes allow to significantly increase the current of electron optics, which improves significantly the output characteristics. Analytical estimates have shown the possibility of effective interaction of the electron beam with both direct and backward electromagnetic waves for the certain values of control parameters of the systems.","PeriodicalId":6653,"journal":{"name":"2018 43rd International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz)","volume":"171 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79419636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We demonstrate a strategy that can alleviate the tradeoffbetween the requirements of modulation depth and modulation speed in polymer/silicon terahertz wave modulators. Using terahertz time-domain and continuous-wave systems, we measured both the terahertz transmission modulation properties and the time responses of the modulator structures. The conjugated polymer/graphene/silicon structure achieved a high modulation factor of93% for transmission as well as improved the modulation speed of the devices based on polymer/silicon. The high modulation efficiency of the polymer/graphene/silicon structure was induced by the enhancement in carrier density and the extremely high carrier mobility of graphene, respectively.","PeriodicalId":6653,"journal":{"name":"2018 43rd International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz)","volume":"27 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84213474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
