Abstract

To improve the detection efficiency of electro-optic (EO) sampling of terahertz waves, we propose “polarization filtering,” where the main polarization component of the probe optical beam is suppressed after the interaction in the EO crystal. Experimentally, we achieved a factor of 2.4 increase in the EO sampling signal by the polarization filtering.
