The satellite signal is received by a beacon receiver at 18.9 GHz. Through differentiating the clouds from rain events along the satellite link using weather Radar data, the cloud induced attenuation is experimentally estimated from the recorded beacon signal. Moreover, radiosonde data is also processed to calculate the cloud attenuation by applying the Salonen and Uppala (SU) model. In contrast, two LP metalines excited in balanced mode form a broadside beam across a wide frequency band. This double metaline system has a gain bandwidth of 31% for the LP broadside radiation. Similar wide-band operation is realized for a circularly polarized (CP) broadside beam, when two metalines, each radiating a CP BBF scanning beam, are excited in balanced mode. The enabling technical innovation is the introduction of discontinuities at the upper region of the flared fins that control the ratio of vertical-to-horizontal current density, without introducing sizable reflections. In this paper, a novel structural design of microstrip antenna array working at the 60 GHz frequency band has been proposed. This new kind of the whole microstrip antenna array is formed by two “Y” shaped branches, which are connected through an outside annular feeding line. In each “Y” shaped branch, there are two lines of three rectangular patches linearly composed together. The radius of annular feeding line has been optimized based on half-wavelength impedance repetitiveness. Specifically, a spiral Travelling Wave Antenna (TWA) is used to generate a strong and uniform field in proximity of the antenna surface. Then, such a microstrip transmission line feeds four resonating curved slot antennas placed close to the spiral TWA and 90-degree rotated with respect to the desktop reader antenna center, through a series-feeding connection. In order to radiate a circularly polarized field, the four slots are fed with the same current amplitude and with a 90-degree phase-shift (sequential rotation feeding technique). In the proposed approach, the negative capacitance of non-Foster circuit elements is varied by changing the signal processing in the digital non-Foster circuit. For the purposes of demonstration and comparison with analog non-Foster approaches, a prototype three-stage fast-wave coaxial line is implemented using three digital negative capacitors. Group delay is shown to be less than in corresponding vacuum propagation, and group delay is shown to be adjustable in software with varied negative capacitance.
