Such arbitrarily-shaped elements are determined by using the genetic algorithm (GA) based on a spectral-domain moment method. The validity of the designed elements is presented by comparing the calculated reflection-phase property for a periodic reflectarray with the measured one. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed elements is verified by discussing radiation characteristics of the fabricated offset reflectarray numerically and experimentally.","PeriodicalId":6449,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI)","volume":"7 1","pages":"960-963"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81797963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is composed of a finite-long and straight nonreciprocal transmission-line resonator and the feed line. The resonator section comprises of a nonreciprocal phase-shift composite right/ left handed transmission line with both ends open or shorted. The operational frequency of the antenna is not determined by the total size of the resonator, but by the configuration of the unit cell. The resonator section has field profiles with uniform magnitude and linearly-varying phase distribution along the resonator. Therefore, the gain and directivity of the antenna are enhanced with total length of the resonator section. The slope of the phase distribution on the resonator as well as the radiation angle of the antenna is continuously varied with the nonreciprocal characteristics of the transmission line, for example, by changing the applied dc magnetic field.","PeriodicalId":6449,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI)","volume":"18 1","pages":"1058-1061"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84833953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The advantage of the antenna is it can achieve a high gain of 15.6 dB with bandwidth of 90%. This was achieved by separating the feed network from the main patches; and increasing the antenna height by installing the feed layer at the back of the patch layer, sharing the same ground plane. In order to ensure the power is transferred smoothly from the main input port, the feed is design in novel spider like tapered feed network while ensuring the overall antenna function is not compromised.","PeriodicalId":6449,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI)","volume":"45 1","pages":"569-572"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76819529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This antenna is composed of a triangular slot fed with a microstrip triangular patch by coupling effect. This allows optimizing the size, the performances, and the characteristics of the UWB system. It can be noted that the VSWR is less than 2 over the entire bandwidth, from 3 GHz to 10.6 GHz. The proposed UWB antenna meets the FCC bandwidth authorization. Good results in terms of performance, bandwidth, gain, and radiation stability are obtained.","PeriodicalId":6449,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI)","volume":"40 1","pages":"1456-1458"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81124735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The surface is fabricated by using DuPont pyralux polyimide as the substrate. Cyanoacrylate is used to adhere the samples of polyimide. The reflection phase response of the FHIS, which is curved in the form of a cylinder, is measured in the anechoic chamber and compared with that of the flat FHIS. As expected, reflection phase characteristics of the curved FHIS are polarization dependent and slightly different than those of the flat one. The measured reflection phase characteristics of the curved FHIS will be compared with simulations which presently are under consideration.","PeriodicalId":6449,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI)","volume":"37 1","pages":"1844-1847"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85812083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
