The presented study sought to understand the challenges caused by COVID-19 and coping strategies. Methods: The study was conducted using focus groups with nineteen participants. Participants lost social connectedness, struggled to learn technology, and felt isolated in the absence of face to face peer support activities provided by HIV community support services. Participants employed a range of positive coping strategies including appreciation of the outdoors and volunteering. Conclusion: People living with value social contact and face-face support offered through HIV voluntary sector organisations. The absence of this led to compromised social and emotional wellbeing. This focus group-based research with provision of communal lunch however, played a part in addressing isolation, appreciation of social contact and limiting the psychological impact caused by COVID-19 lockdowns.","PeriodicalId":63726,"journal":{"name":"社会工作与社会福利(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47874992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shkoliar","doi":"10.23939/sosrsw2023.063","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23939/sosrsw2023.063","url":null,"abstract":"Background: The topic of human-animal relationship has been gaining more and more popularity in recent years in the Western scientific discourse, but there are not so many studies and scientific works.You can find only isolated works and empirical investigations on this topic in the Ukrainian scientific space, although the role that pets play in the life of a modern person is quite important. Purpose: justification of modern trends in human-animal relations through the prism of sociology. Methods: the methods of analysis, synthesis, systematization and generalization were the main ones in the work with the primary sources on the topic of the publication, which made it possible to determine the features of various approaches to the study of important aspects of the human – domestic animal relationship. The method of secondary analysis of sociological research made it possible to reveal the current situation regarding the practices of interaction between people and domestic animals. Results: Current aspects of the study of the pet`s role in people's lives have been clarified. The evolution of a person's attitude towards an animal in a historical-cultural section from an object (utilitarian attitude) to a subject, a partner in interaction (animal-companion, animal-friend, animal-child, etc.) is considered. The mechanism of changing the status of a domestic animal through the prism of the phenomenological paradigm is substantiated: the attitude towards animals depends on the framework of perception of their status and essence, which can be the values, norms and rules adopted in society or in a certain environment in a certain period. The factors that contributed to the change of the specified norms and rules of interaction were identified, including: the spread of humanism and posthumanism values, urbanization, the tendency to anthropomorphize animals, etc., The methodological foundations of B. Latour's actor-network theory were used to explain the subjectivity status of domestic animals. According to it, things (in our case, animals) are not only passive agents of interaction, not only exposed to the influence of a person, but also exert an influence on him. This means, that they are partners in a network of interactions. The process of domestic animals status transformation is illustrated on the basis of the social construction stages of reality by P. Berger and T. Luсkmann. Social, racial, and demographic characteristics of social practices related to pets are explored. Conclusion: The topic of interaction between domestic animals and people is not sufficiently disclosed in the sociological discourse, since interest in it began quite recently. Scientists were motivated to intensify research on this topic by changes in the attitude towards the animals that live nearby. From consumerism to partnership. This led to a change in the utilitarian value of animals, which began to be determined by feelings and emotions. Purpose: describe the main international and domestic non-governmental organizations that provided financial assistance to war victims and internally displaced persons. Methods: method of content analysis of websites. Results: the number of internally displaced persons increased from 1.5 million in 2014 to 7.1 million in 2022. During 2022-2023, millions of internally displaced persons received and continue to receive monthly cash assistance for living from the state, free social services, humanitarian and food aid, etc. In addition, Ukrainians affected by military actions and internally displaced persons received and continue to receive financial assistance from international and domestic non-governmental organizations. Conclusion: the author's analysis is only one attempt to generalize the providers of monetary assistance to war victims and internally displaced persons in wartime conditions and, of course, is not exhaustive. And as you know, when you have a lot of things to do, chaos and disorganisation ensue. Self-management helps to prevent this, and it is used not only in the management sphere but also in social work. Social workers have a large number of clients, a lot of problems to solve, and therefore face difficulties. Developing self-management skills will help social workers in social services to act and work much more effectively. Purpose: to define self-management, its components, to substantiate the need to develop selfmanagement skills of social workers in the management work of social services and to identify the means of developing self-management skills. Methods: The study of the development of social workers' self-management skills in social services was carried out by analysing existing research, studying the works of scientists, and using the method of analysing Internet resources, systematising and summarising data. Results: After analysing the difficulties faced by social workers, it was proved that the development of self-management is a necessary direction of management work in social services. Conclusion: Thus, the results of the study indicate that the development of self-management skills in social workers is extremely necessary. The availability of these self-management skills will improve the work of social workers, their motivation and inspiration, help to counteract excessive exhaustion and contribute to the improvement and efficiency of the social service as a whole, by improving the management aspects of the respective organization. Given the differences in language, culture, religion, and administrative structure of the host countries, the problem of adaptation has become extremely acute for many. Without proper support and resources to help them integrate into their new communities, internally displaced persons may deal with a variety of challenges, including isolation, discrimination, and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. This can make it difficult for them to rebuild their lives and achieve a sense of security and stability. Purpose: To identify the conditions that influence the successful psychosocial adaptation of externally displaced Ukrainians. Methods: The theoretical method was aimed at studying scientific papers and articles on the topic of social and psychological adaptation. An empirical method was also used, which included the Methodology for Diagnosing Socio-Psychological Adaptation by K. Rogers and R. Diamond and a questionnaire of our own design aimed at studying the difficulties and problems faced by people in the new social environment. Results: In general, most of the respondents have average levels of indicators according to the Rogers and Diamond methodology for diagnosing social and psychological adaptation, but a low level of social adaptation, emotional comfort and striving to dominate was also found in some of the respondents. The analysis of our own questionnaire showed that the process of adaptation of externally displaced Ukrainians is influenced by such factors as language skills, access to medical services, government support, education and employment, and social and cultural environment. Conclusions: The results of the study revealed that although most of the respondents have average adaptation indicators, externally displaced Ukrainians experience a range of problems and need support and additional measures. The need for timely and accurate information about events in Ukraine and effective control of disinformation has only intensified with the full-scale invasion. Ukrainian media have had to quickly adapt to new conditions, find new ways of gathering information, and learn to work in the absence of security guarantees. Telegram is the most popular social media platform among users in Ukraine, followed by Facebook and YouTube. With the full-scale invasion, Telegram becomes a key platform for searching and exchanging information. However, the platform is controversial because it is not a source of information itself but rather a place where information is posted. Therefore, there is a need for critical thinking and information verification. According to UNICEF, more than 140 million children in the world need social protection, including children deprived of parental care. Institutionalization of social policy in the field of social security for children deprived of parental care means the creation and development of a state support system that provides children with the necessary housing, food, medical care, education and psychological support. Institutionalizing social policy is essential to ensure children have the resources and support they need to develop and live fulfilling lives. Purpose: Identifying ways and tools that can ensure the effective institutionalization of social policy in the field of social welfare of children deprived of parental care, and providing them with appropriate conditions for the development and exercise of their rights to a full life. Methods: The theoretical research method consisted in the analysis of documents used to study the works of scientists regarding the study of the processes of institutionalization of social policy in the field of social security. Results: The study showed that the institutionalization of social policy is a key element of creating an effective system of social protection, which provides children deprived of parental care with the necessary conditions for full development and exit from difficult life situations. The study indicates that an important component of the institutionalization of social policy is the creation of an effective system of management and coordination of work between various state authorities and public organizations that provide social protection for children deprived of parental care. Conclusion: It is also worth noting that for the Ukrainian social security system in the context of the institutionalization process, the issue of implementing social control, that is, public control in this area, is relevant and acute. Public activism is a significant phenomenon of modern society, manifested in the active engagement of citizens in addressing social, political, and economic issues. The article examines various aspects of public activism, including its main characteristics in the context of institutional and practical dimensions.One of the key aspects of civil activism is its expression in different spheres of relations between citizens and authorities. In particular, the article discusses the dynamics of \"citizen-citizen\" and \"citizen-authority\" interactions in the context of public activism. Studying these relationships allows us to understand how public activism influences democratic processes and the development of civil society. In addition, the article also analyzes the transformation of public activism after 2014, particularly in the context of the events of the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity. These events played a significant role in shaping a new institution of society, where civil activism became one of the influential forces impacting political processes and reforms. The peculiarities of the institutional approach to the study of public activism are also examined in detail in the article. One of the cyber fraud subspecies, information fraud, is not only undefined in Ukrainian legislation but is generally little studied in the domestic scientific discourse. The lack of scientific research and the legislative framework is one of the reasons for the prevalence of this phenomenon in Ukrainian society, which brings serious harm to citizens, especially during the war in Ukraine. Purpose: To consider information fraud in terms of its impact on civil society in Ukraine. Methods: In the course of the work, general scientific methods were used: analysis for a detailed study of the scientists works on the selected topic and synthesis to determine the essence of the concept of “information fraud” and its features. The classification method was used to organize and structure information. Results: Information fraud can be interpreted as manipulative socio-political Internet technology, as online fraudsters, using certain manipulation strategies and tactics, sell information that has no practical value. In our opinion, during the war in Ukraine, this kind of fraudster is a big problem for society, on par with other widespread cybercrimes, because they can lead to various negative social consequences and even the death of a person.
