We show that such interactions can adversely affect the performance of a QCL by causing abrupt rises in lasing threshold. The generalization of one of the most promising type of iterative algorithms — Gerchberg-Papoulis algorithm for diffraction tomography was constucted. In addition, experimental methods for registration of tomographic projections in the terahertz range were developed. We are studying new solutions using semiconducting bolometers in order to achieve the required performances. We show that with minimum changes compared to our existing technology, we obtain very good performances with detectors that are very similar to the ones used for PACS. This technological gap can be filled through the development of an 80 × 64 pixel array of Sb-heterostructure backward diodes (Sb-HBDs) monolithically integrated to broadband (600 GHz–1200 GHz) antennas that can be directly flip-chipped to a CMOS voltage-mode readout integrated circuit (ROIC).
