A comparative theoretical analysis of the traditional air gap capacitive sensor with the electrostriction based solid-state capacitive sensor has been carried out thoroughly. Difficulties and limitations with air gap capacitive sensor are highlighted. Solid-state capacitive sensor with elastic dielectric material sandwiched between the compliant electrodes exhibits higher mechanical and electrical stability, sensitivity, higher tolerance with environment and withstands large load in comparison to the air gap capacitive sensor. An experimental setup with proper solution has been described for the measurement of relative capacitance variation. An alternative method of current-mode bridge has also been suggested for the purpose of sensing pressure and strain with high accuracy.","PeriodicalId":6299,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd International Conference on Sensing Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"467-471"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89775616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A linear and sensitive active bridge circuit requiring only few components for its hardware implementation has been proposed for measuring very small resistance change due to change in physical quantity or chemical analytes. Theory of the proposed active bridge circuit has been discussed and experimental results have been compared with conventional bridge circuit. Initial measurements are made with Pt-100 Strain gauge sensor but it can be extended to other resistive sensors of practical importance. Results show that the active bridge circuit is almost four times more sensitive than conventional full bridge circuit.","PeriodicalId":6299,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd International Conference on Sensing Technology","volume":"71 1","pages":"259-264"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82215097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For reducing error of actuator, it is important that initial position of actuator should keep consistent with rotorpsilas initial position because the dynamic key parameters of servo system are influenced by rotor position. Therefore, it is a key point that actuatorpsilas zero position and rotating encoder rotorpsilas should be coincident. In this paper, rotating encoder is applied to position sensor in missile steering gear servo system for testing rotor position, and the method of confirming initial position is advanced, then the method which keeps actuatorpsilas zero position and rotating encoder rotorpsilas being coincident is advanced. The better control effect is attained by combining space vector control strategy.","PeriodicalId":6299,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd International Conference on Sensing Technology","volume":"36 1","pages":"269-272"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82411443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The accuracy is high and the sensitivity regarding other features of the flow to be measured like heat conductivity, heat capacity and viscosity is rather small. CMFM available at the marketplace often show changes in zero point and sensitivity during normal operation. The well known procedure for online determination of zero and sensitivity is very sensitive regarding the compensation forces to be calculated and deserves a cyclic state transition of the meter which is rather time consuming (about 2 to 3 seconds). The new approach using a phasor model of the meter together with an observer for the phasor variables is a major contribution to enhance the performance of the control system, as the cyclic stimuli applied to the meter are now interpreted as disturbances acting on the control loop. The phasor controller, mainly a nonlinear controller for phase and amplitude, is able to compensate the disturbances much faster than in the previous approach.","PeriodicalId":6299,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd International Conference on Sensing Technology","volume":"6 1","pages":"518-522"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82815284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accurate mathematical models are needed to achieve intelligent control with good performances in control engineering. It is easy to obtain those mathematical models if exact input-output data of a controlled object is available by applying system identification techniques. However it is difficult to obtain the exact input-output data over networks because the data is transformed from analog data into digital data. The proposed method provides a method to build mathematical models of controlled objects over networks.","PeriodicalId":6299,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd International Conference on Sensing Technology","volume":"98 1","pages":"595-599"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91085941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system is configurable in software to produce either high precision or fast acquisition range images. Indicatively a 10 second exposure has been shown to produce a range image of sub-millimeter precision, whilst video frame rate (30 fps) acquisition provides for centimetre precision. Currently the acquisition time of the system is to a large degree constrained by the off-line processing of the frames by an external computer. This paper presents an alternative to the off-line PC image processing utilising an Altera Stratix II FPGA. Processing rates up to 30 frames per second have been achieved with the added advantage that many of the previous systempsilas existing digital electronics can also be accommodated, providing for an even more compact and flexible system.","PeriodicalId":6299,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd International Conference on Sensing Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":"57-62"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75428870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
