On the other hand, network coding has been widely investigated in communication system. In this paper, we aim to combine network coding with the conventional cooperative communication system, however, we face certain problems. The main property of cooperative system is diversity; however, when network coding operation is introduced, it violates the rules of diversity. The new signals transmitted by relays are no longer like those sent from the transmitters. In order to fix this problem, in this paper we introduce a method using a multiplier rather than the binary sum operation, which is normally used in network coding. Numerical analyses using maximum ratio combining (MRC), for performance analysis, show that the proposed method improves diversity, i.e. reliability, without deterioration of the average probability of error. Cooperative communication is widely used in consumer wireless communication.","PeriodicalId":6297,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics","volume":"110 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79605699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we develop an algorithm to achieve notable energy savings in elevator systems. Operation of an elevator can be classified into two modes-running mode and stand-by mode. We design an energy-saving elevator system capable of manipulating its speed in running mode. Speed is varied based on the load carried and acceleration based on the number of floors to travel. Also choosing an appropriate range of speed is investigated. The total travel time of the system is to be considered for enhancing its overall performance. The algorithm is tested on varied traffic patterns: 1) Non-peak hours and 2) Peak hours. The final results are compared with constant speed elevators and tabulated. This method produces a 12.35% energy savings and 5.49% reduction in travel time during non-peak hours and 5.06% energy savings and 1.32% reduction in travel time during peak hours of traffic intensity.","PeriodicalId":6297,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics","volume":"90 1","pages":"1-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77649000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In combination with a microwave heating source, this system will be used for the evaluation of blood perfusion, where the temperature of the tissue is raised by the source, and the temperature decay read by this radiometer is used for evaluating the perfusion. Besides the intended application, the main novelty of this system is using two low noise amplifiers in front of the radiometer's so-called Dicke switch in both the receiver and reference temperature input paths to improve the radiometer sensitivity. Some preliminary results of the developed system are presented. This system can potentially lead to the development of a handheld radiometric system for utilization in industry and healthcare.","PeriodicalId":6297,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics","volume":"15 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81938259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, to effectively improve the detection performance that is degraded by the two-dimensional inter-symbol interference under the HDS channel environment and the pixel misalignment, an iterative two-dimensional equalization scheme is proposed based on the contraction mapping theorem. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, for various holographic channel environments we measure the BER performance using computer simulation and compare the proposed one with the conventional threshold detection scheme, which verifies the superiority of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":6297,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91065058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
