A total of 200 household heads were selected from four cattle potential districts; Dhanan, Ber’ano, Godey & Adadle. The relevant information was collected through semi-structured questionnaire, focus group discussion, key informants interview, and personal observations. Majority of the respondents were illiterate. The average cattle holding size was 8.97 heads/household and cattle were mainly kept for milk production. The major feed resources in the study area were natural pasture and crop residue, and communal grazing was the most important feeding system in the area. Feed shortage was a problem hindering cattle production in the study area during dry season mainly January up to March. Animals traveled long distances to watering points (>5 km) during dry season, while in wet season, animals were watered in nearby water sources. Cattle housing was open kraal fenced with the thorned pl enty acacia trees and calves were housed separately from other cattle. Breeding in the study area was uncontrolled and was bred with their own or neighbors’ bull. Age at first mating, age at first calving and calving interval were 3.25 years, 4.05 years and 16.56 months, respectively. The daily milk yield and lactation length were 2.22 liters and 8.07 months, respectively. The production and reproduction performance of Somali cattle was relatively higher than other local breeds in the country mainly in terms of milk yield and fertility potential under","PeriodicalId":62784,"journal":{"name":"动物科学期刊(英文)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70611596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, DF was considered as nutrient diluent, and as an anti-nutritional factor. Dietary fibers, however, have been shown to positively influence digestive system, immune function, microbiota, and also poultry behavior. After the ban of antibiotics and antibiotic growth promoters in many countries, nutritional strategies to meet the genetic potential of poultry breeds have been extensively investigated. Furthermore, increase use of unconventional or alternative feed resources to reduce the feed cost and human food competition have made the DF topic more interesting as such products are generally rich in fiber; therefore can alter the poultry performance. Thus, to produce poultry sustainably and eco-friendly, DF has to be carefully managed in poultry which further requires sound knowledge on feed formulation, source of fiber, type, subtype, form, inclusion rate, and other managerial aspects like exogenous enzyme supplementation. To sum up, this review paper has critically analyzed the dietary fiber related issues including posi-tive and negative sides of DF in modern day’s poultry nutrition. Finally, gaps in previous researches have been also identified and future direction has been suggested to better understand the topic considering therapeutic role of DF in poultry health.","PeriodicalId":62784,"journal":{"name":"动物科学期刊(英文)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70612431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we fitted expressions for the relationship between fork length and body weight of Japanese mackerel based on fork length and body weight data of Japanese mackerel in the high seas of the Northwest Pacific Ocean from 2018 to 2019, and calculated growth parameters and growth characteristics of Japanese mackerel von Bertalanffy growth equation by identifying otolith age data combined with the least squares method. The results showed that the relationship between fork length and body weight of Japanese mackerel in the open sea of the Northwest Pacific Ocean was W = 2.0 × 10 −6 L 3.289 (r = 0.9764, n = 2833); the growth parameters were L = 447.61 ∞ , K = 0.264, t = −1.06 0 ; the growth rate reached the maximum when the bodyweight growth rate was 122 g/yr, at which the inflection point age was 3 years old, the inflection point body weight was 310 g, and the inflection point length was 309 mm. We recommend 2 years of age start fishing with a fork length of 250 mm (±10 mm). The growth parameters of Japanese mackerel in the open sea of the Northwest Pacific Ocean were not significantly different from those of the Japanese mackerel population on Japan’s coast (P > 0.05), Finally, based on the knowledge of biological research and resource evaluation, we suggest that the age of opening trap should be 2 years old and the length of fork should be 250 mm (±10 mm).","PeriodicalId":62784,"journal":{"name":"动物科学期刊(英文)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70611553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ranked as “endangered” in the IUCN list, the demographic distribution of this species is spread unevenly across two islands in the Lesser Antilles. The Saint-Lucian subspecies, Ramphocinclus brachyurus sanctaeluciae, was estimated to number between 1200 and 1700 individuals, whereas the Martinique subspecies, Ramphocinclus brachyurus brachyurus, was estimated at between 200 and 400 individuals. As an endemic rare species with a high risk of extinction, the Martinique subspecies should be regarded as a conservation priority. The small size of the Martinique subspecies population, its restricted geographical range, and its narrow habitat tolerance make it quite difficult to study. The variability of morphological traits in this subspecies has not been biostatistically analyzed recently. In order to update knowledge and fill in any gaps, we have used the morphometric approach to study the morphological variability of the Martinique subspecies. The study site is a small peninsula located in the northeast of the island of Martinique (French West Indies) known as “la Caravelle”. We captured 63 ferent habitats.","PeriodicalId":62784,"journal":{"name":"动物科学期刊(英文)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70611218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
