It is an urgent issue nowadays as there are frequent attacks at educational institutions all around the world. However, it is not only the law enforcement agencies that must ensure the safety and security of citizens but citizens themselves can contribute to their safety. The expert survey method was used in this study. 214 respondents (investigators, interrogators, lawyers, and other practitioners) involved in crime control and prevention were interviewed during the survey. The article describes the most effective prevention measures taking into account the opinion of the respondents as well as the results of the authors' analysis of the incidents which have taken place in the USA, Russia, Germany, and other countries. These measures include socialisation ofpotential offenders,. awareness-raising activities involving potential victims (students), highlighting the impropriety ofsuch negative behavior as bullying; installation ofclassroom door locks; evacuation devices acquired by schools.","PeriodicalId":56166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":"267-282"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71079508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While research on cyber security appears to be central in STEM disciplines, it is not yet clear how central cyber security and cyber crime is to criminal justice scholarship. In order to examine the connections between cyber security and criminal justice, in this study attention is given to the way that criminal justice scholars have embraced cyber crime research and coursework. Results show that while there are a number of cyber crime courses included in criminal justice majors there are not a large number of cyber crime research studies incorporated in mainstream criminal justice journals. ________________________________________________________________________","PeriodicalId":56166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences","volume":"13 1","pages":"385"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42743750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This significantly high prison population percentage has made the United States the only country with the highest incarceration rate in the world. Studies further show that the incarceration rate continues to rise because many released prisoners would return for violating parole terms or committing new crimes. Therefore, this paper argues that these are the results of the lack of an inmate’s absolute right to rehabilitation, which would prepare inmates for release. Granting such right to prisoners would compel the U.S. Correctional System to focus on rehabilitating inmates and ensure that prisoners are ready to overcome the barriers to reentry.","PeriodicalId":56166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences","volume":"12 1","pages":"183"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42343526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
