This paper presents the noise status and noise reduction analysis of Robotics lab in an academic institute. The average equivalent continuous noise level ( L A e q ) inside the Robotics lab (64.90–75.99 dB) was within or close to permissible limits of 75 dB as per Indian standards for industrial environment; but the operation of Mig and Spot welding were a source of noise nuisance to the adjoining academic area due to the sound transmission from the Robotics lab. The noise reduction analysis in the study demonstrated the usage of acoustics (glass, curtain, cardboard and thermocol) in windows as sound barriers that dampens the transmission of indoor noise. The Sound Transmission Loss (STL) was observed to be highest in the range of 18.12–22.62 dB (28.88–29.59%) by using the combination of glass and curtain as acoustic barrier in windows of the Robotics lab; thereby, reducing noise nuisance significantly in the academic area. The study revealed the necessity of effective acoustic barrier in labs/workshops under-industrial conditions in academic institutes and proposed a model for predicting STL for the combination of glass and curtain from L A e q value.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"469 - 476"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48626336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a solution for sound quality improvement based on sensitivity analysis of psycho-acoustic parameters, in which the main acoustic techniques involved include noise signal acquisition, subjective and objective evaluations, sound quality modelling and prediction, parameter sensitivity and spectral analysis, and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. In addition, taking 64 noise samples of electric bus as an application case, the presented sound quality analysis steps are implemented successively, and the obtained test results of improving the whole vehicle sound quality verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"460 - 468"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47740654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Flügge’s shell theory is employed to model the governing three-dimensional equations of vibration and Fourier’s approach is used to deform the displacement fields as trigonometric functions in the longitudinal direction. As a result of a semi-analytical procedure is conducted, the coupled governing equations of panel problem can be written in a matrix partial differential equation of first order with variable coefficients and reduced from the two-dimensional problem to one-dimensional one which is solved numerically as an initial-value problem. The proposed model is applied to get the natural frequencies and mode shapes for the vibration behavior of two-side simply-supported cylindrical panels with simply-supported, free-free, clamped-free and clamped-clamped ends boundary conditions lying at their curved edges. The sensitivity of the vibration behavior to the variety of curvature, panel parameters and material orthotropy of shell is studied.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"337 - 349"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42348098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A three-dimensional dynamic model of the soil compactor under the interaction of the tire and drum on the deformable terrain is established to calculate the vibration equation of the soil compactor. The vehicle’s experimental study with the seat’s isolation added by the QZS structure is also given to verify the mathematical model and study result. The isolation efficiency and stability of the SCI-QZS and CCI combined are evaluated based on the root mean square accelerations of the operator’s seat (aws) and cab’s pitching angle (a wφc ) under the various conditions of the soil compactor. The research shows that with the isolation systems of the soil compactor seat and cab without the QZS structure and control, the operator’s ride comfort and the cab’s shaking are strongly affected under various operating conditions. With the soil compactor using the SCI-QZS and CCI combined, both the operator’s ride comfort and the cab’s shaking are greatly reduced under all the various operating conditions. Especially, the aws and a wφc are remarkably reduced by 67.8% and 59.8% in comparison with the isolation systems of the soil compactor seat and cab without the QZS structure and control. Therefore, the SCI-QZS and CCI combined should be applied on the soil compactor to improve the operator’s ride comfort and control the cab’s shaking of the soil compactors or other off-road vehicles.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"378 - 388"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46344717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process is divided into three parts. Firstly, the stochastic user equilibrium model for traffic flow allocation is improved to be more accurate. Secondly, a global traffic noise simulation method is proposed for the network based on the noise prediction model, and the noise data is visualized. Finally, a noise evaluation system is established to study the traffic noise evolution patterns under different road structures. The results show that with the increase of network density, the traffic noise value of the network decreases. The layout of one-way roads will reduce the regional traffic noise value. The impact of road grade adjustments on traffic noise is positively correlated with the rate of change in road capacity. The study can provide an effective basis for control traffic noise from the network planning stage.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"325 - 336"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41404810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional calculation methods are difficult to use due to the complex structure of the torsional blade, and simulation analysis can be time-consuming. Therefore, it is necessary to use the equivalent model instead. Most of the previous studies have simplified the straight blade to a cantilever beam model without considering the shear effect, and used harmonic response analysis to study the vibration of the blade for simulation. The blade body of the torsional blade can be regarded as a torsional variable section beam, and the Timoshenko beam model is the same as the variable section beam. Therefore, the Timoshenko beam model can be regarded as the equivalent of the sheathed torsional blade. Considering the complexity of the calculation of the self-shrouded torsional blade model. According to the theory of Timoshenko beam, the model of the shrouded blade of Timoshenko beam with different torsion angles was established. The first sixth-order modes of the blade model and the vibration response of the adjacent blades under forced vibration are compared, respectively. The results show that the results obtained from the Timoshenko beam blade model considering the torsion angle are closer to the torsional blade model. In addition, the blade vibration response of the same model under different excitation force amplitudes was further compared, and the results showed that the vibration amplitude, acceleration and velocity of the shrouded blade increased with the increase of the excitation force amplitude. However, the magnitude of the inter-shroud collision force and the number of collisions between adjacent blade shrouds are non-linearly related to the amplitude of the excitation force.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"311 - 324"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42225642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These optimal parameters are found based on the extended fixed point theory. However, in the optimal equivalent stiffness derivation process, it was found that the amplified mass ratio could only take limited values to guarantee the stability condition of the coupled system and make positive equivalent stiffness. As a result, the best working range of the amplified mass ratio was established. The results analysis of the influence of system parameters on the primary system response shown that the amplified mass ratio has greatly vibration reduction effect, which push the peak resonant vibration of the primary system smaller than its static response without control. To better understand the control performance of the proposed DVA, three other dynamic vibration absorbers with or without negative stiffness are considered. The control performance comparison show that under harmonic excitation or even random excitation of the primary system, the proposed DVA model has a significant vibration reduction effect compared to the considered its DVA counterparts. The interest of these relevant results can be used in the field of vibration control engineering.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"297 - 306"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"65271359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A good acoustic environment could contribute to the aesthetic, ecological, and cultural improvement of historic sites, as well as increase visitor attendance with their surroundings. Due to the unique spatial qualities and social-cultural distinctions of these locations, it seems essential to consider the inherent differences in their soundscapes. The hypothesis of this study is to assess the interrelationships between soundscape evaluations and environmental indicators including visual quality and overall impression as well as the related semantic attributes. The historic El-Goli Park of Tabriz, which is in a semi-natural environment, was evaluated as the field study. Field measurements at sampled locations were conducted to record sound pressure levels (SPL) to generate sound maps. At the same time, a questionnaire survey was used for the subjective assessment of soundscape quality. The main results are as follows: 1. Natural sounds (birds and water) and human sounds (voices and footsteps) are the sounds primarily perceived as dominant and pleasant. 2. For a selected location, the higher the percentage of visitors reporting a pleasant sound (mainly natural sounds), the higher the reported soundscape quality, visual quality, and overall impression. 3. Among the social/demographic/behavioral factors considered, “age” and “time period during a day of visit” were associated with soundscape perception. These results may be helpful for the soundscape of historic city parks and will offer helpful insights into landscape policy and regional acoustic environment planning.","PeriodicalId":55888,"journal":{"name":"Noise and Vibration Worldwide","volume":"54 1","pages":"248 - 260"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41784072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
