However, excessive use of inorganic fertilizers may negatively impact soil fertility and microbial activity. To maintain food safety and agricultural sustainability, the use of inorganic fertilizers must be balanced with organic fertilizers. Additionally, sub-optimal land, such as dryland, can be used to optimize tomato productivity, particularly in the North Lombok Regency, Indonesia. This study aimed to investigate the effect and interaction of a combination of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF), plant growth regulator (PGR), and NPK fertilizers as inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of tomatoes in dryland. The experimental design was a completely randomized block design, with two factors: the concentrations of commercial inorganic fertilizer (0, 1,300, and 2,600 ppm) and the type of commercial LOF (Bio-Extrim and Organox) + commercial PGR (Hormax). The results showed that the interaction was not significantly different between inorganic fertilizer and LOF + PGR, except for mean fruit weight in the first week of harvest. However, there were differences in responses at the level of each factor. The application of inorganic fertilizer at 2,600 ppm increased tomato productivity by 13.81%. LOF was only significantly different in fruit weight/plant in the first week of harvest and was not significant after that.","PeriodicalId":55737,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47908573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process of transporting imported soybean seeds from Surabaya to the port of Ternate and storage in warehouses may lead to contamination with Peronospora manshurica fungus, which poses a risk of spreading to soybean crops in Ternate. This study aims to detect the presence of P. manshurica fungus, viability, and growth of P. manshurica oospores in the imported soybean storage warehouses in Ternate. The study was conducted using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method was carried out through an exploratory approach, while the quantitative method used a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of four treatments, i.e., G.Tbsi, G.Jbla, G.Tfra, and G.Tfrb, with five replications. The observation variables included disease occurance, presence, and characteristics of oospores, as well as oospore growth and viability percentage. The results showed that the average disease occurance in the soybean storage warehouses was highest in the sample of soybeans from the Tfrb warehouse at 1.88%, followed by the Jbla, Tfra, and Tbsi warehouses at 1.44%, 1.41%, and 1.24%, respectively. The study also found P. manshurica fungus in all four soybean storage warehouses in Ternate, with a viability percentage of G.Tbsi, G.Jbla, G.Tfra, and G.Tfrb were 25.8%, 28.8%, 27.4%, 26.5% respectively. These findings indicate the potential for disease spread to soybean crops in Ternate, thus necessitating appropriate preventive measures to address this problem.","PeriodicalId":55737,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46123435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can improve the taste, texture, shelf life, and nutritional content of bread as a functional food. In this study, sourdough was made from fermented papaya with varying fermentation times of 4, 5, and 6 days. The substrate was fed five times to strengthen the sourdough, resulting in a robust enough mixture to develop the dough. The resulting sourdough was used to create sourdough bread with a 30% sourdough concentration. The fermentation time impacted the quality of the sourdough, with results showing that sourdough became increasingly active as fermentation time progressed. The best sourdough was obtained from a six-day fermentation period, with a pH of 3.60 and a total plate count of 1.70 × 104 CFU/ml. The best donuts were produced using the sourdough that had been fermented for six days, with an almost perfect score of 3.9 out of 4 for all aspects, including color, aroma, taste, and texture. Using this sourdough resulted in a significantly longer shelf life; no mold appeared until the eighth day of storage at room temperature. The moisture content of the donuts was measured at 4.57%. This study demonstrates the potential benefits of using sourdough made from fermented papaya to improve the quality and shelf life of sourdough bread while also providing potential health benefits.","PeriodicalId":55737,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41565982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the diversity of pest beetles found in rice warehouses is essential because it leads to pest management by detecting and identifying beetles that can be the basis for making decisions in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The study was conducted at two rice warehouses, Cakranegara I and Ubung, Indonesia, with rice sampling at five points diagonally on each side. Rice was taken using the Nobbe Trier tool inserted into the sack, and 100 g was taken as a rice sample. Rice sampling was conducted from June to July 2019, with five points diagonally on each side of a pile of rice. The results obtained four pest beetle species: Sitophilus oryzae, Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Oryzaephilus surinamensis, and Tribolium castaneum. Based on the Shannon Wiener index (H’) in Cakranegara I warehouse, the pest beetle found was only C. ferrugineus with a low diversity level of 1.60. Meanwhile, four pest beetle species were found in the Ubung warehouse S. oryzae, C. ferrugineus, O. surinamensis, and T. castaneum, with a moderate diversity level of 2.74. The differences in the diversity of pest beetles in storage were influenced by the rice warehouse's temperature and relative humidity (RH).","PeriodicalId":55737,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41946372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, feed nutrients not adequately absorbed by the digestive tract of quails, in addition to impacting productivity, will also be wasted and decompose to form ammonia, which becomes a supporting factor for disease. This study aims to determine how adding turmeric powder and nitrifying probiotics affect the productivity and amount of ammonia from quail excreta. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 (six) treatments, i.e., control (without the addition of turmeric powder and nitrifying probiotics), the addition of nitrifying probiotics 4.5 g/kg of feed, the addition of nitrifying probiotics 6 g/kg of feed, the addition of turmeric powder 3 g/kg of feed, the addition of 3 g turmeric powder + nitrifying probiotics 4.5 g/kg of feed, and the addition of 3 g turmeric powder + nitrifying probiotics 6 g/kg of feed. Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and followed by the DMRT. The results showed that adding turmeric powder and nitrifying probiotics had no effect on feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), and ammonia level in quail excreta but had a significant impact on quail day production (QDP). This study concluded that adding turmeric powder and nitrifying probiotics can improve the value of QDP, PER, and reduce ammonia levels in quail excreta but had not been able to enhance the value of feed consumption and feed conversion ratio.","PeriodicalId":55737,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45310709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Solar radiation, including ultraviolet radiation (UV), reaches the earth's surface. The sun emits three types of UV radiation: UVA, UVB, and UVC, which have beneficial and harmful effects on the human body. The most important benefit is the synthesis of vitamin D in the skin. However, UVB radiation also causes direct photochemical damage to DNA. This study aimed to investigate the ability of the compound ethyl-p-methoxycinnamate (EPMS) that is available in kencur as a sunscreen agent through computational chemistry studies using the Hartree-Fock (HF) method and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and perform synthesis of lotion from kencur extract. The investigation began with creating a molecular model of a sunscreen agent optimized for geometry using the HF method and continued with spectrum analysis using TD-DFT. The study's results showed that the analysis of the EPMS spectrum could be used as a natural UVB shield. In addition, the synthesis of lotion from kencur rhizome made using oil and water phases showed organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, and spreadability test results fitted according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 16-4399-1996. It indicated that kencur lotion could potentially be used as a sunscreen agent.","PeriodicalId":55737,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Pertanian","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49607049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
