Ubi kayu merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mengandung karbohidrat. Ubi kayu dapat dikeringkan untuk mendapatkan produk olahan contohnya pembuatan tepung dan gaplek. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan modifikasi pengering surya dengan menambahkan kincir angin savonius sebagai penggerak kipas pada pengering tersebut yang bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan sirkulasi udara didalam ruang pengering. Parameter yang dilakukan diantaranya pengukuran kecepatan udara, distribusi temperatur, kelembaban relatif, iradiasi surya dan pengukuran kadar air. Dengan penambahan kincir angin savonius, kecepatan udara di dalam pengering surya lebih stabil bila dibandingkan dengan kecepatan udara di lingkungan. Temperatur di dalam ruang pengering lebih tinggi dari pada temperatur lingkungan, sedangkan kelembaban relatif di dalam pengering lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan di lingkungan. Hal ini menyebabkan proses pengeringan berlangsung cepat. Nilai iradiasi surya yang didapat berfluktuasi. Iradiasi tertinggi diperoleh pada hari kedua penelitian yaitu 595 W/m2. Kadar air awal ubi kayu yaitu 61,7 %. Kadar air akhir yang diperoleh rak A5 yaitu sebesar 11,7% dan rak B1 yaitu sebesar 12,9% sudah mendekati kadar air yang diharapkan untuk pembuatan tepung yaitu 12%. Performance of Solar Dryer by Using Savonius Windmill for Cassava (Manihot esculenta) DryingAbstract. Cassava is one of the plants that contain carbohydrates. Cassava can be dried to produce processed products such as cassava flour and “gaplek”. In this research, the solar dryer was modified by adding a savonius windmill as fan drive which aims to maximize the air circulation inside the drying chamber. The observed parameters include air velocity, the distribution of temperature, relative humidity, solar irradiation and the water content. The addition of savonius windmill caused the air velocity in the solar dryer was more stable when compared to the speed of the air in the environment. Moreover, the temperature in the drying chamber was higher than the ambient temperature, while the relative humidity in the dryer was lower than in the environment. As a result, it caused rapid drying process. Solar irradiation values obtained fluctuate. The highest irradiation was obtained on the second day of the study (595 W / m2). The moisture content of the cassava decreased from 61.7% to 11.7% (at A5 rack) and 12.9% (at B1 rack). Milk is one of the most important food products for children’s growth and overall health. Melamine (2,4,6-triazine-1,3,5-triamino) is an organic compound used in the manufacture of pesticides, plastics, sanitizers, and disinfectants. Melamine when added to milk increases the overall amount of nitrogen in the milk thus fooling common tests for protein content. Melamine is also extremely harmful when ingested, especially for young children. Sanlu, one of China's largest dairy producers, diluted their milk products with water and added then added melamine to fool the protein tests. Consumption of milk containing melamine in amounts greater than 1 mg/kg can cause kidney failure, bladder cancer and death. Testing milk using the LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS methods can reveal melamine contamination. Further actions that can be implemented to reduce milk adulteration include product traceability, corporate transparency, 100% product testing procedures and consistent enforcement of the law. 2008 Krisis Produk Susu ChinaAbstrak. Susu merupakan salah satu produk pangan yang paling penting untuk pertumbuhan anak-anak dan kesehatan. Melamin (2,4,6-triazina-1,3,5-triamino) adalah senyawa organik yang digunakan dalam pembuatan pestisida, plastik, pembersih, dan disinfektan. Melamin ketika ditambahkan ke susu meningkatkan jumlah keseluruhan nitrogen dalam susu sehingga mengelabui tes umum untuk kandungan protein. Melamin juga sangat berbahaya bila tertelan, terutama untuk anak-anak. Sanlu, salah satu produsen susu terbesar di China, mengencerkan produk susu mereka dengan air dan menambahkan melamin untuk mengelabui tes protein. Konsumsi susu yang mengandung melamin dalam jumlah yang lebih besar dari 1 mg/kg dapat menyebabkan gagal ginjal, kanker kandung kemih dan kematian. Pengujian susu menggunakan LC-MS/MS dan metode GC-MS/MS dapat mengungkapkan kontaminasi melamin. Saat ini permasalahan lingkungan menjadi pertimbangan yang sangat penting dalam produksi biodiesel. Meskipun sumber energi ini (biodiesel) dianggap sebagai karbon netral, namun dalam rangkaian proses produksinya masih menghasilkan berbagai gas berbahaya ke lingkungan. Negara-negara Eropa dan Amerika mengklaim bahwa produksi biodiesel dari minyak kelapa sawit memberikan kontribusi emisi karbon ke atmosfer sepanjang jalur produksinya. Selain itu, US EPA-NODA dan EU RED menyatakan bahwa biodiesel dari minyak kelapa sawit hanya dapat mengurangi emisi GWP 17% dan 19% dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar berbasis fosil. Mengingat bahwa persyaratan minimum US adalah 20% dan EU adalah 35%, maka minyak kelapa sawit dari Indonesia mengalami kesulitan untuk memasuki pasar global. Pendekatan ilmiah harus dilakukan oleh Indonesia untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Tinjauan dari berbagai literatur menyebutkan bahwa keberlanjutan produksi biodiesel dari kelapa sawit lebih baik dibandingkan jarak pagar, bahkan apabila dibandingkan dengan bahan baku yang lain seperti lobak. Tinjauan dari berbagai literatur menyebutkan bahwa nilai karbon yang dapat diserap oleh hutan primer lebih tinggi dari hutan sekunder dan dari perkebunan kelapa sawit. Kondisi inilah yang menjadi alasan mengapa dunia menyebutkan bahwa Indonesia sebagai penyebab pemanasan global, meskipun penelitian lebih lanjut masih dibutuhkan berdasarkan data terakhir di Indonesia. Dari kondisi ril di Indonesia diperoleh nilai GRK sebelum produksi stabil yaitu 2.575,47 kg-CO2eq./ton-minyak biodiesel (BDF) untuk minyak kelapa sawit dan 3.057,74 kg-CO2eq./ton-BDF untuk minyak jarak pagar. Ketika produksi sudah stabil diperoleh nilai GRK sebesar 1.511,96 kg-CO2eq./ton-BDF untuk minyak kelapa sawit and 380,52 kg-CO2eq./ton-BDF untuk minyak jarak pagar. Jika kita bandingkan dengan minyak solar, maka nilai emisi CO2eq. dapat diturunkan 49,27 % untuk biodiesel dari minyak kelapa sawit dan 88,45 % untuk biodiesel dari minyak jarak pagar. Review of Life Cycle Assesment of Biodiesel in Indonesia Abstract. Currently, environmental consideration becomes the most important issue in biodiesel production. Eventhough source of energy is considered as carbon neutral, the production path may release various environmentally hazardous gasses. European and American countries claim that production of biodiesel from palm oil contributes carbon emission to the atmosphere along its production path. Furthermore, US EPA-NODA and EU RED stated that palm oil based biodiesel can only reduce emission of GWP by 17 % and 19 % compared to fossil-fuel based. Buah salak Sabang setelah fase matang mengalami fase penuaan (senescence) yang disusul dengan kerusakan karena merosotnya ketahanan terhadap mikroba (kapang) pembusuk. Kerusakan dapat disebabkan oleh kerusakan mekanis, fisik, mikrobiologis dan fisiologis. Oleh sebab itu tujuan umum penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pelapisan buah dan suhu penyimpanan agar dapat mencegah busuk buah pada salak Sabang, dengan tujuan khususnya untuk melihat pengaruh pelapisan dan suhu penyimpanan terhadap mutu salak, dan melihat hubungan antara perubahan mutu salak dengan tingkat penerimaan konsumen secara organoleptik. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial dengan faktor suhu yang terdiri dari 2 taraf (10°C dan 27°C) dan faktor konsentrasi pelapisan yang terdiri 3 taraf (50%, 75% dan 100%) dan kontrol adalah salak Sabang tanpa pelapisan aloe vera dan disimpan pada suhu ruang (27°C) dilakukan dengan 2 ulangan. Analisa data dilakukan dengan SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) versi 17. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada akhir penyimpanan (hari ke-27) dengan suhu penyimpanan 10°C, konsentrasi aloe vera yang diaplikasikan berpengaruh terhadap mutu salak Sabang. Susut bobot terendah pada konsentrasi 100% (12,84%) dan yang tertinggi pada konsentrasi 50% (15,50%). Kekerasan tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100% (22,50 kg/mm2) dan terendah pada konsentrasi 50% (18,81 kg/mm2). Kadar air daging buah tertinggi pada konsentrasi 50% (81,45%) dan terendah pada konsentrasi 75% (75,90%). Total Padatan Terlarut (TPT) tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100% (20,00 °Brix) dan terendah pada konsentrasi 75% (16,60 oBrix). Nilai organoleptik tekstur terendah pada konsentrasi 50% (3,8) dan tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100% (4,7). Nilai organoleptik rasa terendah pada konsentrasi 50% (3,8) dan tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100% (3,9). Pemarutan kelapa adalah salah satu pekerjaan dapur yang dihadapi ibu rumah tangga sehari-hari. Produk alat parut kelapa yang sudah beredar di pasaran salah satunya adalah produk pemarut kelapa dengan cara manual menggunakan sistem engkol. Ibu rumah tangga mempunyai keluhan rasa sakit pada bagian anggota tubuh terutama tangan, pinggang dan punggung setelah menggunakan alat parut kelapa yang sudah ada. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk perbaikan rancangan alat parut kelapa sistem engkol yang berbasis Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD), juga mengetahui penurunan muskuloskeletal ibu rumah tangga sebagai pengguna, serta mengetahui perbedaan waktu pemarutan kelapa setelah dilakukan perancangan ulang. Penelitian dilakukan di RT. 001 RW. 005 Kelurahan Tembilahan Barat Kecamatan Tembilahan Hulu Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir. Model penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan sama subjek (treatment by subjects design) dengan jumlah sampel 12 ibu rumah tangga yang didapat dari perhitungan rumus Colton. Perbaikan rancangan alat parut kelapa sistem engkol yang berbasis Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) didapat dengan membuat matriks House of Ergonomic (HOE) dan penentuan data antropometri. Keluhan muskuloskeletal ibu rumah tangga diketahui dengan membuat lembar kerja kuisioner Nordic Body Map (NBM). Waktu pemarutan kelapa didapat dengan menguji alat parut kelapa sistem engkol antara sebelum dan sesudah perancangan. Hasil penelitian setelah dilakukan perancangan ulang alat parut kelapa sistem engkol menunjukkan bahwa rancangan alat parut kelapa sistem engkol yang berbasis Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) adalah memiliki aspek-aspek ergonomi yang lengkap yaitu efektif, nyaman, aman, sehat, dan efisien (ENASE). Keluhan muskuloskeletal ibu rumah tangga mengalami penurunan sebesar 0.285 atau 17.39%. Besarnya rembesan sangat dipengaruhi oleh sifat permeabilitas tanah. Permeabilitas tanah akan menurun dengan meningkatnya kadar air dalam tanah. Rembesan yang terjadi pada tanggul akan membentuk suatu pola aliran air di dalam tubuh tanggul. Rembesan air akan berjalan sejajar dengan garis muka air tanah sehingga garis rembesan juga merupakan garis aliran. Sehingga garis-garis equipotensial akan memotong garis rembesan ini sehingga jarak vertikal antara perpotongan adalah sama. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa nilai debit rembesan berdasarkan rumus empiris jauh lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan metode pengukuran langsung dan program SEEP/W. Hal ini disebabkan karena pada metode empiris selain faktor permeabilitas dan dimensi tanggul, juga dipengaruhi oleh panjang zona basah. Sebaliknya, pada pengukuran secara langsung dan metode analisis dengan program SEEP/W, debit rembesan hanya dipengaruhi oleh nilai permeabilitas, tinggi muka air dan dimensi tanggul, sedangkan panjang zona basah tidak berpengaruh Analyses of Spreading Seepage Pattern on Embankment Model Abstract. Seepage are one problem that often occurs in the embankment. The magnitude of seepage is greatly influenced by the soil permeability characteristic. Soil permeability would decreased with increasing water content in the soil. Seepage that occurs in embankments would form a pattern of water flow inside the embankment. Seepage water will run parallel with the water levels line so that seepage is also a flow line. So that the equipotential lines will cut the line permeability so that the vertical distance between the intersections is the same. The results obtained indicate that the seepage discharge based on empirical formula smaller than the direct measurement method and program SEEP/W. This is due because of at the empirical method besides permeability and embankment dimension, also influenced by length of wet zone. Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk mengkaji kesiapsiagaan masyarakat terhadap bencana longsor di Kecamatan Linge Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui tingkat pemahaman masyarakat terhadap bencana longsor, 2) mengetahui tingkat kesiapsiagaan masyarakat terhadap bencana longsor, 3) mengidentifikasi dan menilai peranan kearifan lokal dalam menghadapi bencana tanah longsor, dan 4) menyusun strategi kesiapsiagaan dalam pengurangan risiko bencana. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif melalui survei di 3 desa, yaitu Desa Arul Item, Desa Antara dan Desa Kemerleng. Variabel penelitian yang diukur adalah pemahaman, kesiapsiagaan dan peranan kearifan lokal yang diperoleh dari penyebaran kuesioner. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan Cluster Random Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat di Kecamatan Linge memiliki tingkat pemahaman yang berbeda-beda terhadap bencana longsor. Mayoritas masyarakat (55%) memiliki pemahaman yang sedang, tingkat kesiapsiagaan masyarakat berada berada pada tingkat siap yaitu 49,5%. Sebagian besar masyarakat (49,5%) menyatakan bahwa kearifan lokal memiliki peranan dalam pengurangan risiko bencana longsor. Diperoleh 5 alternatif strategis untuk meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan masyarakat Linge dalam menghadapi bencana longsor yaitu: meningkatkan peran lembaga kampung sebagai pusat informasi dan merintis kerjasama yang kontinyu dan berkesinambungan dengan lembaga lain seperti BPBD, mengkaji lebih lanjut peranan kearifan lokal melalui kerjasama dengan organisasi/lembaga lain yang ingin mengkaji peranan kearifan lokal untuk jenis bencana lain, menganjurkan masyarakat mengikuti penyuluhan dan simulasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesiapsiagaan terkait kebencanaan, meningkatkan peran lembaga donor dalam penyediaan dana untuk pengelolaan bencana dan meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat melalui penyuluhan yang kontinyu dengan menggerakkan masyarakat dalam mengurangi dampak bencana.Abstract. A research to study the preparedness of society for landslide in Linge, District of Central Aceh has been done. The aim of this research: 1) to know the level of society comprehension on landslide, 2) to know the level of society preparedness on landslide, 3) to identify and to asses the role of local wisdom in facing the disaster of landslide, and 4) to arrange the strategy of preparedness in reducing the risk of disaster. This research used a descriptive method by conducting a survey at 3 villages: Arul Item Village, Antara Village and Kemerleng Village. The research variables were comprehension, preparedness, and the role of local wisdom by distributing questionnaire. The sampling technique conducted by using Cluster Random Sampling. The results showed that the society in Linge had different level of comprehension towards landslide. The majority (55%) had a mid level of comprehension, the level of society preparedness was at high (ready) level 49,5%. Penelitian dengan metode survei, dari hasil penelitian diperoleh beban kerja objektif pekerja 1 dengan denyut nadi per menit pada pembajakan sawah datar, saat memindahkan traktor tangan dari sawah satu ke sawah yang lain dan miring masing-masing yaitu 111/menit, 123/menit dan 125/menit serta pekerja 2 dengan denyut nadi per menit pada pembajakan yang sama yaitu 114/menit, 120/menit dan 120/menit. Beban kerja subjektif pekerja 1 dengan keluhan sistem muskuloskeletal pada pembajakan sawah datar dari agak sakit 50% dan sakit 28,57%, pada saat memindahkan traktor tangan dari sawah satu ke sawah yang lain dengan prosen keluhan agak sakit5 3,57%, sakit 32,14% dan sakit 3,57%, dan pada sawah miring dengan prosen keluhan agak sakit 60,71% dan sakit 50% serta pekerja pada pembajakan yang sama mempunyai keluhan muskoluskeletal masing-masing yaitu agak sakit 10,71% , 21,43% dan agak sakit 25%. Produktivitas pekerja 1 dan pekerja 2 yaitu luas sawah per hari 10,45 are dengan penghasilan sebesar Rp.188,100 dan luas sawah 16,09 are dengan penghasilan sebesar Rp. 289,620 Productivity and Work Load of Hand Tractor Operator for Plowing Field of Subak Ayo’ in Babahan Village, Sub-district of Penebel, Tabanan BaliAbstract. This research was conducted by survey method. The results showed that operator’s objective load of operator 1 showed heartbeat per minutes when he plough flat and sloping land, when he moved his hand tractor from one part to other fields were 111 heartbeats/minute, 123 heartbeat/minute and 125 heartbeat per minute respectively. Operator 2 working in the same works include 114 heartbeats/minute, 120 heartbeats/minute and 120 heartbeats/minute. Operator’s subjective load on operator 1 showed musculoskeletal system lamentation on flat land plough that were 50% less painful, and 28,57% painful when he moved the hand tractor on with percentage of lamentation were 53.57% less painful, 32.14 painful, and 3.57% very painful. On the other hand, he showed the percentage of lamentation on slopping land were 60.71 less painful, 50% painful. The research also found that the operators showed musculoskeletal system lamentation, that were 10.71% less painful and 21,43% painful and 25% very painful. Lengkuas (Alpinia galanga) adalah salah satu tanaman penting bagi masyarakat Indonesia. Tanaman ini dapat digunakan untuk bumbu masakan dan obat herbal. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menduga umur simpan lengkuas segar dengan menggunakan model Arrhenius. Lengkuas segar yang baru dipanen dibersihkan dan dipotong-potong dengan ukuran 2cm, kemudian disimpan pada suhu 5, 10 dan 28°C. Evaluasi dilakukan oleh 25 orang panelis dengan menggunakan skala hedonic dari sangat suka sampai sangat tidak suka terhadap warna, kesegaran, aroma dan tekstur. Parameter yang diamati adalah kadar air dan kadar sari larut dalam air. Parameter tersebut diamati dalam interval 3 hari selama 21 hari atau sampai sampel dinyatakan tidak disukai oleh panelis pada salah satu kriteria hedoniknya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pad asuhu 28°C, lengkuas dapat disimpan selama 3 hari, sedangkan pada suhu 10 dan 5°C, lengkuas dapat disimpan selama 12 dan 21 hari. Energi aktivasi (EA) dan tingkat perubahan mutu (Q10) karena kadar sari larut dalam air lebih besar dari energi aktivasi (EA) dan tingkat perubahan mutu (Q10) karena kadar air lengkuas. Namun demikian, kedua parameter tersebut tidak tepat digunakan untuk menduga umur simpan lengkuas. Shelf-Life Prediction of Galanga by Using Arrhenius Model Based on Its Moisture and Water Soluble Extract Content Abstract. Galanga (Alpinia galanga) is one of important plants for Indonesian people. It can be used as spices and also as herbal medicine. The aim of this study is to predict the shelf-life of fresh galanga by using Arrhenius model. Fresh harvested galanga, which was cleaned and chopped at width about 2 cm, was stored at temperatures 5, 10, and 28°C. The evaluation was done by 25 respondents by using hedonic scale from the range of like very much until dislike very much. This hedonic evaluation was assessed, based on colour, freshness, aroma, and texture. Parameters observed were moisture and water soluble extract content. These parameters observed at interval 3 days for 21 days or until the samples were rejected by respondents for at least one of hedonic factors. Results showed that at temperature 28°C, galangal can be stored for 3 days. However, at temperature 10 and 5 °C, galangal can be stored for 12 and 21 days, respectively. The energy act ivation (EA) and the rate of quality change (Q10) due to water soluble extract were higher than those of water content. Model-model hidrologi berdasarkan Tank Model telah dikembangkan dalam penelitian di Indonesia dan di dunia untuk memprediksi potensi sumberdaya air dalam suatu DAS. Optimasi parameter Tank Model dapat menggunakan Artificial Neural Network (ANN) yang mempunyai kemampuan untuk belajar dari data dan tidak membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk mencapai model optimal. Tujuan analisis ini untuk menentukan seberapa besar potensi sumberdaya air di DAS Singkil berdasarkan optimasi parameter Tank Model. Hasil optimasi keseimbangan air parameter Tank Model DAS Singkil meliputi: karakteristik hidrologi DAS Singkil meliputi debit minimum 3,60 mm/hari, debit maksimum 17,80 mm/hari, dan rasio debit maksimum/minimum 4,94. Indikator kesalahan Tank Model DAS Singkil meliputi: R (Coefficient of Correlation) sebesar 0,6471, MAE (Mean Absolute Error) dan RMSE (Root Square Mean Error) masing-masing 2,18 dan 2,73. Total inflow 3.189,48 mm/tahun dan total outflow 3.155,64 mm/tahun, yang terdiri dari: surface flow 11,75 mm/tahun, subsurface flow 669,84 mm/tahun, intermediate flow 62,05 mm/tahun, subbase flow 0,74 mm/tahun, dan base flow 2.411,26 mm/tahun. Berdasarkan total baseflow volume ketersediaan air total yang mengalir di Sungai Singkil mencapai 12.164 x 106 m3/tahun. Potensi sumberdaya air DAS Singkil untuk keperluan pertanian mencapai 3.438,4 x 106 m3/tahun Analysis of Potential Water Resources at Singkil Watershed using Tank Model Abstract. Water demand continues to increase as the population growth, while the availability of water is not always consistent with the needs in terms of volume, place, time and its quality. Tank based hydrological models have been developed in many researches in Indonesia and in the world to predict the potential of water resources in a watershed. The optimalization of tank model parameter could be performed by using Artificial Neural Network (ANN), which has the capability to review the data and does not need much time to reach its optimized model. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the extent of a water resource potential in the Singkil Watershed based on the optimalization of Tank model parameter. Results of the optimalization of water balance of tank model parameter in Singkil Watershed include: hydrology characteristics of Singkil Watershed consisting of minimum debit of 3.60 mm/day, maximum debit 17.80 mm/day, and ratio of maximum/minimum debit is 4.94. Error indicators of Tank model in Singkil Watershed include Coefficient of Correlation (R), which is 0.6471, Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Root Square Mean Error (RMSE), which are 2.18 and 2.73, respectively.
