The aim of the conference was to establish the discussion platform for the researchers dealing with the aspects of positive management traditionally cultivated by the research community of the FESM NCU (cf. Stankiewicz (Ed.), 2010; Stankiewicz (Ed.), 2013). In 2018, similarly to previous editions of the conference (cf. Lis, 2016; Lis, 2017), the focus was given to the issues associated with: – “positive management including: interpersonal relationships, intra-organisational communication, trust, organisational citizenship behaviours; – leadership including: contemporary concepts of leadership, roles played by top, middle and first line managers, challenges (both external and intra-organisational) faced by leaders in business organisations, the public sector, and non-profit organisations; – corporate responsibility to employees and other stakeholders, organisations in business environment, society and the natural environment”.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"40 4-5","pages":"115-118"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41287399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The examination indicated that in the case of Polish co-op banks, women fulfilled the function of bank president in smaller banks than did men. The volume of clients, members, general assets and equity in banks managed by men were generally more than double than the same values in banks managed by women. However, the effectiveness of the examined co-op banks managed by women was decidedly better with regard to ROA, ROE, net profits, cost/income ratio and non-performing loans indicator, than those banks under male management. In addition, by applying advanced statistical modelling, confirmed was that the gender of a co-op bank board of directors’ president had significant influence on the bank’s effectiveness and when that position was held by a woman, this circumstance had a positive effect on the bank’s condition.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"3 1","pages":"9-22"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41936330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author intends to highlight the most popular approaches to leadership, together with the concept of positive leadership, present selected factors influencing leadership effectiveness, including principles of a personal contract, and give ‘food for thought’ for present and future leaders willing to succeed in more and more demanding environment. Finally, a case study of Henri Strzelecki, a charismatic British leader and manager of Polish extraction is described. At the same time, already at this step there is the relationships building process between partners and the need to further maintaining of the alliance. Therefore, a special attention should be paid to the negotiating process of a strategic agreement, conditioning the effectiveness of alliance management in the future as well as the scope and quality of relations between the allies. In fact in this phase of the strategic agreement takes place establishing the common strategy, which in turn determines the friendly start of the future cooperation. The aim of this study is to identify the key factors that determine building and sustaining friendly relations between enterprises and at the same time determine the success of the whole alliance. Considerations were based on the analysis of literature describing the theoretical framework of strategic alliances creation as well as business practices in this area. This allowed to propose a three-step process of selecting the potential company to the alliance, taking into account the profile analysis of the future ally, assessment of its resources and cultural and strategic fit. These issues make possible to ensure the sustainable development of the planned alliance and the success of partners companies. The selection and negotiations process is crucial in maintaining lasting relationships with the allies. It should be foreseen whether the planned cooperation will not hinder or even prevent the alliance continuation in the future, or will cause unwillingness to enter into other cooperative agreements because of the mismatch of strategic partners or excessive cultural differences, and thus ineffective functioning of the alliance in the future.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"3 1","pages":"23-38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42547452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It makes an attempt to understand the perceptions of the company and the community about how CSR can be a vehicle for community development. This research employs various qualitative research methods such as interviews, focus group interviews, semi- structured questionnaires and document analysis. The research argues that CSR as a mechanism of community development is like the ‘icing on a cake’: It is supposed to be an added advantage to complement government and community efforts towards development, rather than the overall answer to community development.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"3 1","pages":"49-68"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44061324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main emphasis is put on three most important aspects of diversity: gender, age and disability, as they are the leading barriers for hiring employees in Poland. I n order to achieve this goal, the following objectives has been set: (1) to identify elements of job offers that are opened for diversity, (2) to analyse job offers of big companies which signed D C in terms of using the elements opened for diversity (3) to discuss diversity management issues in the recruitment process of Polish companies. The case study analysis is a research method applied in the paper. The investigation is based on the content of job offers to be found in different platforms designed for recruitment as well as on the companies’ websites and the opinions of experts expressed in non-standardized interviews. The results of the research indicate that the majority of companies follow with the principles of diversity management, as they have declared. However, many of them should improve their communication related to diversity issues. I t is worth emphasizing that companies should more carefully create descriptions of job offers. What is more, there is much to be done in the context of caring for people with disabilities during recruitment.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"3 1","pages":"19-35"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44534228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The examples of this business model can also be found in the United States. This is the first model of this sort in Europe. A similar business model is currently used in Switzerland. I ts objective is regular economic activity and seeking to make profit. This is nothing unusual. There are many companies like this. However, NOT JUST SHOP offers products the price of which includes an amount which goes to children, adults and other social groups in need. What is most important, the said amount is immediately available for the needy, not after achieving a profit. Moreover, customers of NOT JUST SHOP instantly see where their money goes and for which purpose. Consequently, there is full transparency. The presented case study is a guideline to create new innovative business solutions which lead not only to achieving profits, but also undertaking actions which are socially responsible.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"3 1","pages":"7-18"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48912558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
