In the contemporary economy, the enterprises, especially those that are global corporations, are highly involved in several activities focused on meeting both societal and environmental needs. As caring about the better future for next generations, the companies implementing CSR aim at compensating the side effects related their operations. On the other hand, they aim at building their brands perceived as supporting local communities and engaging in particular environmental projects. One of such global corporations highly involved in CSR field is Starbucks. The aim of the study is to is to explore Starbucks’ activities in the field of CSR. The research process is driven by the three following research questions: (1) What are the main areas of Starbucks’ involvement in CSR activities? (2) What are the main Starbucks’ company objectives in the field of CSR? (3) How does Starbucks implement CSR activities following TBL concept? The exploratory single case study analysis of Starbucks company is applied to answer research questions and achieve the aim of the study. Design / methodology / approach: This is a qualitative and quantitative study, of a documentary design, of a descriptive type, using the biblio graphic review of primary sources and the financial analysis of the annual accounts and management reports of energy companies in a period of 10 years. Findings: Accounting, which gathers the records of economic and social issues, cannot neglect current environmental problems. Companies should seek solutions to improve collection and presentation of environ mental information in their financial statements, helping to minimize the environmental impacts caused by their production systems and become socially responsible companies. Current accounting systems are not able to reflect the environmental reality of companies, and therefore cannot be used for decision–making in the environmental field. Originality / value: The study shows that the analysed energy compa nies do not devote enough effort to the environment or their accounting systems do not sufficiently inform about taken actions. Nevertheless, Journal of Corporate responsibility and leadership the Case studies in Corporate soCial responsibility 50 Maripaz Muñoz Prieto a positive trend in their investments and expenditures on the environment manifesting their commitment to social responsibility is observed. The study concentrates on the labour perspective, as labour costs and access to qualified workforce are claimed to be determinants of the investment’s location. Methodology: The qualitative single case study methodology was applied. A MNE of Japanese origin operating in the chemical industry and its Polish subsidiaries were the units of analysis. Main findings: The study shows that the headquarters seem to be much more advanced in CSR than foreign subsidiaries. Some discrepancy between declaration and practice has been noticed from the Polish labour viewpoint. This may be associated with the style of diffusion of practices in industrial relations and HRM, and may create only a specific simulacrum of social responsibility. Also, the asymmetry in quality of information on CSR policies implemented in the parent company was observed what may affect the transparency of a whole group. Implication for further research: Exploration of other major competitors originating from other countries, operating in Poland, possessing significant market shares could help to reveal the level of advancement and presence of self-regulatory CSR mechanisms supporting the creation Journal of Corporate reSponSibility and leaderShip the CaSe StudieS in Corporate SoCial reSponSibility","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"6 1","pages":"73"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42201465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research process is focused around the following study questions: (1) What are the leading thematic areas in research on intersections between leadership and corporate social responsibility?, (2) Are there similarities and differences between leading topics identified through co-word analysis with the findings from previous studies employing systematic literature review and research topic profiling methodologies? (3) What is the usefulness of co-word analysis for mapping leading thematic areas comparing to systematic literature reviews and research topic profiling? Design/methodology/approach: The study employs the method of keywords co-occurrence analysis, which is a type of co-word analysis, categorized among science mapping methods. The bibliometric data for analysis are retrieved from Scopus. The analysis and visualization of keywords co-occurrence is supported by VOSviewer software. Findings: The four following thematic areas have been identified in research production on intersections between leadership and corporate social responsibility: (1) sustainable strategy and sustainable development, (2) leadership and ethics, (3) humans in the organisational context, and (4) responsible leaders in sustainable and responsible organisations. Thematic areas identified through co-word analysis show similarities with the findings from previous mapping studies conducted with the use of systematic literature review and research topic profiling. More similarity is visible in the case of research topic profiling, which likewise co-word analysis is categorized among bibliometric methods. As a method used for mapping thematic structure of a research field, co-word analysis is found to show more advantages than research topic profiling and systematic literature reviews. Research and methodological implications: The study contributes to the body of knowledge through identifying leading thematic areas in research on intersections between leadership and corporate social responsibility. It is also valuable from the methodological point of view as it gives the chance to discuss advantages and disadvantages of various research methods employed for mapping the conceptual structure of a research field. Originality/value: The added value of the study is mostly of theoretical and methodological character. The study seems to be the first attempt to map the conceptual structure of the analysed research field with the use of keywords co-occurrence analysis. It also compares and contrasts the findings from various methods used for mapping the conceptual structure of the field. Design/methodology/approach: The research aims at filling the gap in the body of knowledge by clarifying the issue of OCB’s antecedents with the use of the chronological systematic literature review of scientific output in the field between 1980 and 2018, reviewing each decade separately and searching for common patterns shown by variables. Findings: Variables impacting OCB might come from three different levels. Directions from which antecedents come were named as individual, organizational, and environmental. Above-mentioned create a framework for interrelations which are complex and often create synergies. Research and practical implications: Discussed interrelations between different levels of antecedents and antecedents themselves should be further verified theoretically and empirically. Scholars in their future studies should take into consideration the existence of different levels of antecedents and interrelations between them. The most important managerial implication is that the leaders and managers at different levels on organization should and can much easier acknowledge and observe dynamics of the general framework of antecedents rather than how single variables based on numerous theories impact the behavior of each worker. Originality/value: The study reviewed literature related to the concept of organizational citizenship behavior including brief introduction to its roots and definition, and most importantly the systematic literature review of some of the variables impacting OCB named here antecedents. Such an in-depth theoretical analysis is an important contribution to the field and shows that framework is not as simple as they were previously perceived. {"title":"CSR Case Studies: Identifying Core References with Direct Citation Analysis","authors":"A. Lis","doi":"10.12775/jcrl.2020.001","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12775/jcrl.2020.001","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: The aim of the paper is to identify, through citation analysis, the core references employing case study  methodology to explore CSR issues in various organizational contexts. The research process is focused on the following study questions: (1) What are the core references analysing CSR case studies? (2) What are the research contexts of the top rated case studies in CSR? Methodology: The study employs the method of direct citation analysis, which is categorized among the science mapping, bibliometric methods. As the method of citation analysis favours older publications, which have had more opportunities to receive a higher number of citations, the traditional approach based on identifying the most cited publications is supplemented with the analysis of the normalized number of citations, which mitigates such a bias. The analysis and visualization of findings are supported with VOSviewer software. Findings: The analysis has identified the core references among case studies exploring corporate social responsibility issues. Then, the identified publications have been explored and their research contexts have been recognized.The core case studies in CSR show their particular interest in such contexts and issues as: (1) heavy industries (e.g. mining and oil industries); (2) supply chains; (3) various types of businesses, including large companies, SMEs, and family businesses; (4) the perspectives of important stakeholders such as governments and NGOs; and recently (5) the food industry. Research and practical implications: Through mapping scientific output of CSR case studies, the paper contributes first and foremost to the development of management theory. It points out the most recognized publications, to be considered as role models for the followers. It may also provide inspiration for further exploration of corporate social responsibility practices with the use of case study methodology. Originality/value: The uniqueness of the paper derives from the fact that CSR case studies have not been yet mapped as a research field. Moreover, the employment of bibliometric methodology enabling objective analysis of a large number of publications and their attributes, and effective visualization techniques increase value of the study.
