In this paper, we performed a retrospective study and discussed the prevalence of testosterone deficiency (TD) and its relationship to body mass index (BMI) in aging Chinese men with BPH who have surgical intervention.</p><p><strong>Material and methods: </strong>We reviewed the clinical data by age, BMI, medical history, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, serum total testosterone (TT) levels, biochemical analysis, and transrectal ultrasound. BMI and other variables were considered to be independent variables in an effort to evaluate any potential associations between these factors and TD status using non-adjusted and multivariate-adjusted regression models.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Of the 795 BPH participants, 27.2% (216) patients had TD. After adjusting for all potential covariates, there was a similar J-shaped relationship between BMI and TD, with an inflection point of 19.2 kg/m<sup>2</sup>. The effect sizes and the confidence intervals on the left and right sides of this inflection point were 0.6 (0.4-1.0) (<i>p</i> = .043) and 1.2 (1.1-1.3) (<i>p</i> < .001), respectively.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Nearly one-third of the aging Chinese BPH patients had TD in this study. The association between BMI and TD is not simple. A J-shaped curve correlation was detected. BMI was positively correlated with TD when it was over 19.2 kg/m<sup>2</sup> and inversely correlated with TD when it was below 19.2 kg/m<sup>2</sup>. Four female Wistar rats' uterine samples were used as control. Contractile responses were tested of carbachol in organ bath. Cumulative concentration response curves were constructed to OT and then the strips were incubated with atosiban (OT antagonist) and a second concentration response curve to OT were constructed.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Carbachol, contracted all human strips for the functionality test whereas OT in any concentrations did not produce significant contraction on all human strips. In only one bladder strip and in a very high concentration slight contraction was recorded. Moreover no contractile response was recorded in any OT concentrations in the presence of atosiban. The rat uterine strips responded to OT in a dose dependent manner. Atosiban, the OT receptor antagonist diminished totally those contractile responses.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>It is been demonstrated here that there is no contractile response to OT in human detrusor muscle. The purpose of this study was to evaluate cardiovascular disease risk indirectly through Doppler ultrasonography (USG) of carotid artery vascular markers in T2DM patients using dapagliflozin.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>One hundred forty-five patients presenting to our clinic between March 2016 and June 2018 and diagnosed with T2DM were included in the study. These were divided into two groups - a dapagliflozin group of 85 patients and a 60-member non-dapagliflozin control group. Common carotid artery end-diastolic velocity (EDV), peak systolic velocity (PSV), and resistive index (RI) parameters were evaluated using Doppler USG in both groups.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The mean duration of follow-up was 2.2 ± 0.4 years. Mean ages were 45 ± 14 years in the dapagliflozin group and 42 ± 15 in the control group. Mean HbA1c was 7.4 ± 1.6 in the dapagliflozin group and 7.3 ± 2.1 in the control group. The demographic characteristics, vital signs, blood gas parameters, lactate levels, prognostic scores, and use of inotropic drugs were recorded. Arterial blood gas and PI measurements at the frontal region were performed at the time of and 12th and 24th hours of admission to the ICU. The patients were followed up for 60 days, and the outcome was recorded.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Twelve patients (20%) died during the first 7 days, and 27 patients (45%) died within 60 days of the admission. Multivariate analyses to determine potential predictors of 7 and 30-day mortality showed that only 24th-hour lactate level was independent predictor of 60-day mortality, and the PI at 24th was the sole independent predictor of 7-day mortality.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The PI did not predict 60-day mortality in MV patients who had risk factors for the development of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Qmax, prostate volume, IPSS score, quality of life score, and presence of catheters were recorded before the procedure and analyzed with the outcomes after the procedure.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The ASA scores were calculated as 3.0 ± 1.0 (IQR). Before the procedure, Qmax values (mean (SD)) were 5.11 ± 5.37 ml/s, while in the 6th month after the procedure Qmax values were identified as 10.45 ± 3.8 ml/s (<i>p</i> < 0.001). Of 53 patients (55.2%) with chronic catheters who could not be operated, 30 (61.2%) no longer required urinary catheter.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Bipolar RF thermotherapy appears to be an effective method for patients with BPO who cannot be operated. Due to the surgical risks of patients dependent on the catheter in spite of receiving medical treatment, it is a good alternative to remove catheter dependence. This study seeks to assess the impact of sexual function on perceptions of masculinity.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A voluntary-sample of men self-selected into the registry. Data were based on a series of questions related to Health-Related Quality of Life and functional status.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Based on the analysis, 50.2% of men did not feel less masculine, 33.2% of men were still interested in sex, 40.2% of men still engaged in sex \"a little bit,\" and 34.8% of men still found sex \"quite a bit\" enjoyable. The participants were selected through census sampling. The data collection tools included the demographic questionnaire and the Aging Male Symptoms (AMS) questionnaire. The participants first completed the demographic questionnaire and then the AMS questionnaire. SPSS statistical software version 22 (Chicago, IL) was used to analyze the data, and one-way ANOVA tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multivariate logistic regression were applied.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Based on our findings, the mean overall score of hypogonadism symptoms was 41.71 ± 9.20. Based on Pearson's correlation coefficient results, there was a statistically significant association between the severity of hypogonadism symptoms and age (<i>p</i> < .001). Furthermore, there were significant associations between the economic status, cigarette consumption and hours of sleep and the severity of hypogonadism symptoms (<i>p</i> < .001).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The current study's results showed that certain factors can affect hypogonadism in males. The age of the patients, the indications for surgery, and the type of prosthesis implanted were recorded. All patients were implanted two-piece inflatable (AMS Ambicor™) or three-piece inflatable (AMS 700™) prostheses. A 36-item short form (SF-36) was used to assess the life quality of patients. The scores obtained from these forms were recorded and used to compare the preoperative and postoperative quality of life of the patients.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The mean age of the patients was 59.9 (38-78) years. The mean follow-up was 25.1 (12-39) months. A three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis was implanted in 11 (26.8%) of the 41 patients and the others were implanted with a two-piece inflatable penile prosthesis. Dogs were assigned into Young Group (<i>n</i> = 11) and Senile Group (<i>n</i> = 11), additionally divided into Fresh Semen Group and Cryopreserved Semen Group. Males were evaluated for libido score and blood estrogen and testosterone assay. Sperm morphofunctional evaluations were performed based on Computer Assisted Sperm Analysis, morphology, mitochondrial activity, mitochondrial membrane potential, plasma and acrosomal membrane integrity, and DNA fragmentation. Sperm oxidative features were: protein oxidation, lipid peroxidation and production of advanced glycation end-products. Young dogs had higher libido score, sperm velocity average pathway, linearity of motility and mitochondrial activity index and lower percentage of major defects, total defects and proximal cytoplasmic droplet, despite the lack of difference between hormone profile of aged dogs. Fresh semen of senile dogs had increased percentage of spermatozoa with high mitochondrial membrane potential compared to young dogs and to cryopreserved sperm. Cryopreserved semen of young dogs had higher acrosomal membrane integrity compared to the Senile Group. In conclusion, sperm of aged dogs have reduced quality, signaled by higher morphological defects, ultimately altering sperm mitochondrial function and sperm kinetics. After 8 weeks of the treatment (control or KH-204), questionnaires and serological tests were repeated to evaluate the efficacy of the agent. The changes of variables in each group and the difference between two groups were compared.<b>Results:</b> A total of 78 men were enrolled, and randomly assigned to the control group (<i>n</i> = 39) or KH-204 group (<i>n</i> = 39). Baseline characteristics of both group are comparable. AMS total score of control and KH-204 group were both improved at 8 weeks (<i>p</i> = .010, <.001), and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (favorable in KH-204 group, <i>p</i> = .006). At 8 weeks, total IIEF score of control and KH-204 group were both improved, and there was no statistically significant difference in the degree of improvement between the two groups (<i>p</i> = .303). There was no statistically significant difference of laboratory findings, in intra-group changes and inter-group comparisons.<b>Conclusions:</b> KH-204 was found to be effective in all LOH symptoms without changing of laboratory results.
