In order to obtain more general results, thermistors produced by four different manufacturers are selected for experiments. The fitting results by Hoge-2 and Hoge-3 equations are more consistent with the experimental results than S-H and R-C equations. As the amount of experiment data decreases, the fitting results of Hoge-3 equation gradually deviate from the experimental results, but it has little effect on the fitting results of Hoge-2 equation. In addition, the expression of the Hoge-2 equation is simpler than that of the Hoge-3 equation, so the Hoge-2 equation is recommended as the calibration equation for thermistors fitting.","PeriodicalId":55025,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine","volume":"26 1","pages":"13-18"},"PeriodicalIF":2.1,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48793346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the separation time is extremely short, the pantograph catenary arc (PCA) will be generated during this period. The PCA produces electromagnetic interference (EMI), which cause the potential safety hazard to the operation of high-speed trains. This paper provides an overview of the comprehensive models for high-speed trains. The models can be used to comprehensively research the transient characteristics of the EMI of high-speed trains. It provides a basis for finding the corresponding interference suppression methods, so as to improve the safety of train operation and protect the electromagnetic environment around the train. The proposed model can also be applied to other types of trains by changing some relevant parameters.","PeriodicalId":55025,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine","volume":"26 1","pages":"3-12"},"PeriodicalIF":2.1,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44995417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The passive transceiver coil is composed of two detection coils and capacitive elements placed in seawater. The seawater conductivity measurement is realized by analyzing the relationship between the transmission loss of the resonant magnetic field between the passive transceiver coils in the seawater and the seawater conductivity. In the article, the magnetic resonance coupling measurement method is established and analyzed, the circuit model of the magnetic resonance coupling measurement system transmitted in seawater is established, the experimental device is set up for laboratory testing, and the corresponding test situation is simulated by finite element electromagnetic modelling. The test and simulation results show that the measurement method is feasible; the system has the best performance at the resonant frequency, especially for low-conductivity conditions, and better sensitivity. In addition, the resonant frequency increases, and the conductivity resolution of the measurement system for seawater increases.","PeriodicalId":55025,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine","volume":"26 1","pages":"58-65"},"PeriodicalIF":2.1,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43054561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We start from I&M systems arising from traditional application domains such as laboratory test and measurement (T&M) equipment and industrial process instrumentation and discuss key aspects of such systems from the application and technological point of view. We then move to contemporary I&M systems and analyze mechanisms driving their development, including those coming from fast evolving applications such as Industry 4.0, as well as technology-based drivers related to new sensors, materials, networking, and data processing capabilities. We show how those drivers shape the design and usage of modern I&M systems for acoustic emission analysis.","PeriodicalId":55025,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine","volume":"26 1","pages":"17-22"},"PeriodicalIF":2.1,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43769253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SI was characterized in [1] as a system that “relies heavily on precision measurements of standard prototypes, objects or systems that define a physical unit.” In particular, the SI indeed relied on one standard prototype, called the International Prototype of the Kilogram. The mass of this unique object defined 1 kg. By contrast, “natural units,” as the name implies, are completely defined in terms of selected constants used to describe the natural world. Different systems of natural units are based on different selections of these constants.","PeriodicalId":55025,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine","volume":"26 1","pages":"5-11"},"PeriodicalIF":2.1,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41841946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
