Soil properties at 0–10 cm depth are variably affected by colored polythene film mulches. The highest values of soil moisture and pH were found when covered with a silver film, whereas black film provided the higher temperature among other types of film. The contents of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and sulfur in the soils were slightly enhanced by mulching. Fresh biomass of shoot, bulb, and root was enhanced by silver colored mulching due to suitable moisture conditions, temperature and nutrients in the root zone. Plant height, number of leaves, bulb diameter and bulb length, were also remarkably increased after mulching where also the utmost values of dry biomass of shoot, bulb, and root were found. Under different colored polythene film mulches, a significant difference was found only for blue-yellow chromaticity (b*) while lightness (L*) and green-red chromaticity (a*) of onion skin did not affect significantly. With the mulching of olive colored polythene film, the skin of onion bulbs exhibited maximum b* values in compare to all mulches and control. Sugars, pyruvate and mineral nutrient concentration in onion bulbs also increased in all colored mulches whereas silver film provided the utmost value almost in all. Comparing all results, silver color polythene mulching is found to be the best choice for better onion growth, physiology, and quality.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":54198,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Agricultural Science","volume":"64 1","pages":"Pages 63-70"},"PeriodicalIF":5.9,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.aoas.2019.05.003","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46536579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ethanol extract also exhibited superior anti-proliferative activity against three carcinoma cell lines and did not differ from a water extract against HeLa cells with half maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC<sub>50</sub>) of 3.1 ± 1.5 and 5.1 ± 1.2 μg/ml against HCT 116 and MCF-7 cells, respectively and IC<sub>50</sub> of 11.5 ± 2.1 and 12.1 ± 1.7 μg/ml against Hep G2 and HeLa cells, respectively. The main objective of this work is to compare the chemical profile of distillates obtained from fermented <em>A. unedo</em> fruits. Fifteen distinct distillates were obtained from ten clones and five seedlings, and they were evaluated, based on their physicochemical characteristics. An evident effect of plant propagation type (clone or seeds) on correspondent spirits analytical profile was not clearly achieved. However, the distillate composition variability seems connected to the plants variability. Furthermore, high significant effect of distillation time in all the variables measured was found, corroborating the importance of the splitting of the distillation fractions, as a good manufacturing practice. Regarding methanol, a harmful volatile compound, all the distillates obtained from the different clones or seedling fruits respected the legal limitations. From the principal component analysis, the first component seems to separate the distillates based on the pH and isobutanol, isoamyl alcohols and 2-phenylethanol which are the variables that presented the highest contributes to this component. The differences between the legal requirements and the amounts determined in these distillates could result from differences in the alcoholic fermentation microbiota.</p><p>The high analytical quality, that some of the distillates showed, can be used by producers as a criterion to be considered in the future choice of plants to be implemented in new <em>A. unedo</em> orchards.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":54198,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Agricultural Science","volume":"64 1","pages":"Pages 21-28"},"PeriodicalIF":5.9,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.aoas.2019.05.009","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42572762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present study, we have investigated the proteome variation to different commercially available red strawberry varieties, to gain better insight into the variation in allergen content between the different varieties, as well as their proteome variation. In fact, a combination of proteomic tools have been used to build a complete allergen map of strawberry. The water-soluble fraction of a strawberry extract was precipitated using a phenol-based procedure and separated by 2-DE. Further, all known strawberry allergens were localized on a 2-DE map and they were matched with spots recognized by sera of patients with different allergic patterns. Slow release fertilizer (SRF) composite was formulated by incorporating nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HA) and water soluble fertilizers (urea, (NH4)2HPO4 and K2SO4) into water hyacinth cellulose-graft-poly(acrylamide) polymer hydrogel. Fourier Transform Infra-red spectra revealed existence of chemical interaction between the monomer, cellulose, urea and nano-HA. The release of nutrients was assessed using laboratory incubation experiment. Significantly higher content of mineral nitrogen (MN) was observed in the first 4 weeks in conventional fertilizer (CF) compared to SRF treatments and the control. MN content in SRF treatments increased considerably between the 8th and 12th week, and declined in the 16th week. The values of potentially mineralizable N estimated using first order kinetics model related well to the observed cumulative MN at 16th week. No significant difference was observed between CF and SRF treatments for available P content in the 2nd week. Significantly higher P content was observed in CF compared to SRF treatment in the 4th week, whereas in the 8th week, some SRFs released significantly higher content than CF. Available P peaked in the 8th week in all the treatments and remained constant at 12th and 16th week. Availability of P in SRFs increased with increased content of soluble P and decreased content of nano-HA.
