The Critical Success Factors (CSF) of a formalized management of cultural misfit can be considerable for researchers and practitioners: the steps of turning the page of the paradigm of cultural distance and address cultural difference from the point of view of mutual enrichment are worthy of interest. Indeed, the multivariate analysis proposes to go beyond this cultural paradigm to approach the cross-cultural management. Its goal is to formulate paths for reflection and research that will enrich the understanding of the difficulties encountered during the COVID-19 period in the dynamics of bringing together two entities from different national cultures. In order to achieve this objective, the correlational research design by Fey and Denison (2003) was adopted in this survey, using revised measurement scales from this work. This is because correlational research is concerned with studying a problem in order to analyse the relationship between cultural variables. The active consideration of cultural characteristics has a double advantage: it helps to alleviate tensions related to cultural challenges and capitalize on the CSF derived from the diversity of approaches. It proceeds from a detailed study of the cultural characteristics of the two partners, which will serve as a basis for a possible rapprochement in the future.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45893726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aimed to analyze the influence of social, demographic, and economic characteristics toward empowered consumers on health services. This research used a cross-sectional design through a survey of 100 people and direct interviews. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The result showed that 46-67 years old male respondents, who were highly educated (>12 years), and have a job with >360 815 IDR incomes per month were the most empowered group of respondents than others. Regression analyses revealed that a high length of education and high income would increase the value of the consumers’ empowerment index.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47805735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also examined in this research is the extended effect of pricing strategies on consumers purchase decision making. The research aimed to answer questions on the extent to which cost of produced goods affects pricing strategies of products, how decision makers realize the value-based pricing strategy of corporations and the extent to which pricing policy help consumers to make purchase decisions. This research being historical and descriptive depended basically on secondary sources of information. The research used a historical and descriptive method and depended basically and simply on secondary devices as sources of data. Results from the data acquired reference that customers have an understanding of fair value reflected in prices of the firm's products. The researcher will use both analytical and descriptive methods which appropriate the context of the current research which is generally based on the theoretical underpinnings and fieldwork. The outcomes indicate that the cost of produced products used in organizations provides quality information; there is an effect of this information on the pricing decision-making; there are parts in which pricing strategy much relied on the information provided by the cost systems.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47306770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been used successively to explain the observed phenomena imposed, such as inequality and income concentration, dependence, and even the power of the investment multiplier effect when driven by the State. From socio-economic activity and social inequalities, this paper aims to discuss the connections between Celso Furtado and ECLAC theories, upon the thoughts of Raul Prebisch and Raul Pinto, and the existing reality in Ribeirão Branco, one of the poorest cities in Sao Paulo State in Brazil. Data collection was done through documental research and the application of targeted interviews. The results explain how essential state investments promote social welfare and how periphery-center relations heavily affect municipalities of minor economic relevance.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43296202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reverse balking is a particular type of balking wherein the probability that a customer will balk goes down as the system size goes up and vice versa. Such behavior can be observed in investment firms (insurance company, Mutual Fund Company, banks etc.). As the number of customers in the firm goes up, it creates trust among potential investors. Fewer customers would like to balk as the number of customers goes up. In this paper, we develop an M/M/1/k queuing system with reverse balking. The steady-state probabilities of the model are obtained and closed forms of expression of a number of performance measures are derived.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45010030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the COVID-19 Pandemic was the cause of the accelerated deployment of e-learning-related devices. Moreover, it seems that the context of health crisis experienced in the world and particularly in Tunisia represents a factor pushing Tunisian university to reduce, or even eliminate, face-to-face courses for precautionary measures. This is likely to allow students to improve their knowledge, especially for those who require great concentration and time for reflection. The paper shows a very different approach with an analysis of the students’ difficulties by focusing on the mistakes made in solving the problems in the case study. The study makes an original contribution to knowledge. It breaks new intellectual ground. Indeed, flipped learning in particular seems to affect students on a psychological level, making them more engaged, more motivated, and better able to self-regulate. This is the intuition of many flipped learning instructors, but intuition is just a hypothesis. Nevertheless, the results indicate that there is a gap as regards the flipped classroom approach.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45865539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emphasis is now on health and safety management as health and safety risks are now normalised in the construction industry by the actions of construction SMEs. The study assessed the factors promoting health and safety risks normalisation in the construction industry of Nigeria. The study sampled construction professionals and tradespeople, using a well-structured questionnaire and snowball sampling techniques. With a response rate of 72.61% and a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.916; percentage, frequency, Mann-Whitney U Test and factor analysis were used to analyse the gathered data. It was found that there is a low level of occupational health and safety policies application and performance in the construction industry. The poor health and safety performance is prompted by HS risks normalisation promoted by factors such as misconception of and unwillingness to invest in HS, informal and unstructured HS policies, medical issues and excessive workload, Planning and client unwillingness, management commitment issues, and unorganised HS culture. Also, there was no statistically significant difference in the perceptions of the professionals and the tradespeople regarding 89.29% of the assessed variables. Commitment from the management and leadership of the SMEs and making of health and safety culture an integral part of the functioning of the organisations was thus recommended.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42652834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous studies indicate that unlike the case in the industrialized world, the issue of financial literacy is a contemporary issue in the developing world, and it is an understudied field in this context. This study was initiated to survey the level of basic financial literacy among high school students in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. Such a study corresponds to global initiatives such as by OECD requesting scholars to show case the level of financial literacy among young people in different countries/contexts. The data collection instrument was a standard questionnaire that measures the level of basic financial literacy of high school teenagers in Ethiopia. The questionnaire is based on the instrument originally developed by Lusardi and  Mitchell, (2005); and this study uses the slightly updated version used by Van Rooij, Lusardi and Alessie, (2011) that measures basic financial literacy from angles of numeracy, interest compounding, inflation, time value of money, and money illusion. The study concludes that the level of financial literacy is not fairly good among the high school students. The high school students in the capital are not well versed with the basic financial literacy dimensions/measurements, mainly with the assessments of interest compounding, inflation, time value of money, and money illusion. The worst assessment results are a 90.8% failure in the money illusion question, a 70.9% failure in interest compounding assessment question, and a 62.7% failure in the time value of money assessment question. These are followed by a 58.4% failure in the inflation assessment question and a 31.3% failure in the easiest assessment question of numeracy. By and large, these findings testify that the high school students in Addis Ababa have serious deficiency in basic financial literacy. Policy makers and educators may need to seriously pay attention to this shocking deficiency in the level of basic financial literacy among the high school students and take measures to educate the youth this basic life skill at young age while they are still at school.JEL Classification Code: D14","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41509445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because some nations are connected by historical, cultural, social, economic, scientific and other forms of strategic interests. Nigeria and Chad over the years have a history of inter-state relations that pre-dates the coming of colonial masters. However, at the end of colonial rule, both states engaged in multi-dimensional forms of bilateral relations. This study, which adopts mixed method of research focuses on Nigeria-Chad economic relations. It reveals the forms of trade agreement between both states. The study highlights formal and informal nature of the trade amongst the two states and found that their history of diplomatic relations has promoted the national interest as well as the management of strategic over-lapping trade demands in both countries. This study used regression analysis and applied unit root, co-integration, chow test, stability test as well as Phillips-Perron (PP) and Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) to find-out that there is strong positive significant relationship between Nigeria-Chad trade and economic diplomacy within the period of 1970-2018 as well as reasonable stability in Nigerian trade and security relations with Chad in the presence of Boko Haram menace. The study recommends increased bilateral trade, border security as well as intelligence sharing on the dynamics of security threats to the relations of both states.","PeriodicalId":54124,"journal":{"name":"Independent Journal of Management & Production","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48503669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
