The aforementioned target probabilities strongly affect the characteristics of energy detection and its application, and revealing the characteristics that enhance the performance of energy detection based carrier sense is important. Two types of numerical example based analysis are presented from the viewpoints of signal detection and wireless networks. The analytical results show the presence of an optimal target false alarm probability.","PeriodicalId":54101,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Communications Express","volume":"13 6","pages":"218-221"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=10494933","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141245108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Against these advantages, utilizing low-resolution ADCs would lead to degrade the signal detection performance. This paper focuses on addressing this issue by introducing a novel receiver that incorporates a new stochastic resonance (SR) processing method, which adaptively adjusts the intentional noise base on the modulation level of the signal, for the detection of multilevel amplitude modulated signals. Through computer simulation, we confirmed the further improvement by applying the proposed adaptive SR. Moreover, we observed that the proposed receiver is more resistant to channel noise.","PeriodicalId":54101,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Communications Express","volume":"13 6","pages":"202-205"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=10494930","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141245281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method first divides the network into several groups. Subsequently, anomalies are detected using an autoencoder for each intergroup traffic, and the failure-scale is estimated from the number of autoencoders that have detected anomalies. We experimentally investigated anomaly detection during communication through a virtual network built using the network emulator Mininet and confirmed that the proposed method can successfully detect anomalies and estimate the failure scale.","PeriodicalId":54101,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Communications Express","volume":"13 6","pages":"206-209"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=10494939","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141245282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our proposed machine learning (ML)-based method leverages data collected by users while traversing different locations within an area, thereby significantly reducing the measurement time. The integration of round-trip time (RTT), as established by IEEE 802.11mc, has marked a significant advancement in WLANs. This enhancement is pivotal in refining indoor location estimations through multilateration (MLAT) techniques. The RTT, by providing more precise distance measurements between WLAN access points (APs) and users compared to the traditional received signal strength indicator, holds promise for improved accuracy. Nonetheless, in environments with numerous rooms, such as a multi-room floor, the efficacy of MLAT, even with RTT implementation, is not optimal. Addressing this challenge, our paper introduces and validates a novel approach for correcting RTT inaccuracies and a strategic method for selecting APs in MLAT scenarios.","PeriodicalId":54101,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Communications Express","volume":"13 8","pages":"290-294"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=10471243","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141973492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
