By analyzing the state transition of coral reef ecosystems after multiple disturbances, it is shown that ecological resilience is crucial to maintaining the stability and sustainability of the system. Among the many factors that determine coral reef ecosystems, the loss of biodiversity will make the system more vulnerable to external disturbances and continue to degrade. On the basis of relevant research work at home and abroad, combined with China's coral reef ecosystem monitoring capabilities, a set of evaluation index systems for China's coral reef ecosystems are proposed to provide a reference for in-depth understanding of the resilience of China's coral reef ecosystems, and establish a system to protect and improve coral reefs. Ecosystem-oriented management will provide more options for addressing the degradation of coral reef resources.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2024-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139440139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results showed that the average annual NPP value of vegetation in the growing season of the sandy land from 1982 to 2018 fluctuated between 217.65-356.61 gC/m2a, showing an obvious seasonality and a significant increase. The spatial distribution of NPP in the sandy land in the near 37a is significantly different. There are significant seasonal differences in vegetation responses to temperature, precipitation, wind speed, evaporation, and other meteorological factors in different regions. The increase of vegetation cover in sandy land of China's Seasonal Freezing-Thawing Typical Region is controlled by regional atmospheric circulation and human dynamics.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43211473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new method will shorten the time for transforming sludge into organic fertilizers, which will improve the process of handling the waste generated by a paper manufacturing company. The paper industry is facing the most rigorous regulations for processing wastewater and sludge to date in the history of many industrialized and developing countries. The Beta Company attempted to improve the conventional method implemented in-company for handling sludge generated during the paper manufacturing process, instead of shipping sludge out-of- company for processing by a third party. The current experimental results show positive improvement, indicating the Beta Company is moving one step closer toward environmental sustainability commitments.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43178622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents the development of a computer vision system for high-throughput phenotyping, considering three solutions: an image capture software linked to a low-cost appliance; an image-processing program for feature extraction; and a web application for results' presentation. As a case study, we used normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data from a wheat crop experiment of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation. Regression analysis showed that NDVI explains 98.9, 92.8, and 88.2% of the variability found in the biomass values for crop plots with 82, 150, and 200 kg of N ha1 fertilizer applications, respectively. As a result, NDVI generated by our system presented a strong correlation with the biomass, showing a way to specify a new yield prediction model from the beginning of the crop.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4018/ijaeis.2020010101","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70447852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increasing amounts of available hyperspectral data originates from AVIRIS, HyMap, and Hyperion for a wide range of applications in the data volume, velocity, and variety of data contributed to the term big data. Sensing is enabled by Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technologies to infer and understand environmental indicators, from delicate ecologies and natural resources to urban environments. The communication network creates the Internet of Things (IoT) where sensors and actuators blend with the environment around us, and the information is shared across platforms in order to develop a common operating picture (COP). With RFID tags, embedded sensor and actuator nodes, the next revolutionary technology developed transforming the Internet into a fully integrated Future Internet. This chapter describes the use of Big Data and Internet of the Things for analyzing and designing various systems based on hyperspectral images.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89888886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However marketed GIS software products are limited to store, display geographic information together with additional tools such as in spatial analysis, but they do not offer users the real functionalities which are useful for territorial intelligence. This first step is to propose novel models to represent this kind of knowledge needing not only to integrate geographic aspects, but also be independent of data acquisition technologies (satellite images, laser, crowdsourcing, etc.) and able to be used in different languages. After the definitions of geographic ontologies (to organize geographic feature vocabulary) and gazetteers (to structure toponyms in various languages), various examples will be presented in order to extract geographic semantics. A special attention will be devoted to geographic rules.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76665977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because the durability and changes of biochar may affect its long term functions, it is important to quantify biochar in soil after application. In this chapter, an automatic soil biochar estimation method is proposed by analysis of hyperspectral images captured by cameras that cover both visible and infrared light wavelengths. The soil image is considered as a mixture of soil and biochar signals, and then hyperspectral unmixing methods are applied to estimate the biochar proportion at each pixel. The final percentage of biochar can be calculated by taking the mean of the proportion of hyperspectral pixels. Three different models of unmixing are described in this chapter. Their experimental results are evaluated by polynomial regression and root mean square errors against the ground truth data collected in the environmental labs. The results show that hyperspectral unmixing is a promising method to measure the percentage of biochar in the soil.","PeriodicalId":54004,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72959231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
