This shatters interfaith relationships. In addition, religion is being accused to be the reason for intolerance and a source of conflict and chaos. Conversely, Islamic teachings can be used as approaches in managing religious communities and social interaction. An example is the concept of ihsan. The purpose of this study is to explain the concept of ihsan as an approach to fostering the interreligious relationship. This qualitative research used library research for data collection from books, journal articles, and documents related to the management of religious diversity and the concept of ihsan. The collected data were processed using descriptive analytics. With both methods, the researcher reports and presents the collected data to be analyzed and concluded. This research finally found that the concept of ihsan which contains ‘witnessing’ and ‘supervision’ is appropriate for use by Muslims as an approach to managing the plurality of religious communities. This is because Muslim, while always remaining steadfast in their faith, can still establish positive relationships with those who practice other religions using the ihsan approach.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135563692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study used qualitative methodology with a literature approach. The results showed that the phenomenon of religious human behavior should not only be judged by the lens of modern secular psychology theory, but also by the theory of psychology based on Islamic values. It is because they have different frames in looking at reality; and resilience in Islam is an obligation. Having resilient personalities, in Islamic teaching, means individuals’ iman (faith) should be tested. Humans are motivated to have resilience after getting life’s problems with the Covid-19 issue. Individuals’ faith has not reached a high level of spirituality when they have not been tested. There are some personalities in Islam that are in line with the concept of resilience for overcoming the Covid-19 issue in positive psychology such as sabr, tawakkal, shukr, rida, ikhlas and tawbah. In order to increase resilience in overcoming the Covid-19 issue, Sufis provide spiritual training such as takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85354897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Man’s need for religion is not specified to a certain era in time. Rather, it extends over all the times and eras; as a man still invokes religion in the face of ever-rising challenges. One of the most serious of these challenges that humans constantly face is epidemics and diseases. There is no doubt that the two religions, Christianity and Islam, enjoy a high moral heritage. This study aimed to demonstrate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on societies, and the importance of Islamic and Christian values in dealing with the pandemic in different societies of the world, by reviewing and analyzing the discourse of religious scholars and priests, and through the sacred texts of the two religions, in addition to reviewing the studies that discussed the pandemic and religious values. The study explained how the Islamic and Christian religious discourses employed morals to confront the pandemic, as they supported and emphasized the precautionary measures, such as home quarantine and social distancing. They also stressed the need for unity, cooperation and solidarity to confront the pandemic in order to preserve the security of societies.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74687213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The occurrence of a pandemic in a certain time and place has always become a critical object of study and documentation, thus generating innumerable research literature. This research attempts to re-state the urgency of historical literature as a source of knowledge on dealing with the Covid-19 crisis through the religious scholars’ approach. The data were compiled through observation and literature review with content analysis method on Bażl al-Māʿūn of Ibn Ḥajr al-ʿAsqalānī, a classic book containing pandemic studies sourced from hadith and the history of the early Muslim community. The result of this study reveals that classical religious literature as historical knowledge could provide contextual solutions for society. The study of the historical works not only gives clues on the past events but also provides material to contextualise the attempt to build newly-induced awareness in the community. Learning from past events teaches society that pandemics are recurring events. Some similarities and differences are seen in every part of the pandemic. Thus, religious scholars serve as agents who disseminate the lesson learned from the past to prevent the recurrence of similar events in the future. This way, people of today should refer to the past to set some appropriate strategies for coping with the pandemic. Likewise, a historical account mentions the relevance of some terminologies that are currently used around Covid-19.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86643480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These pillars are the mechanisms that would raise and invest in people’s awareness without depleting their energy and efforts, ensuring that wealth and development are perpetuated for generations to come. With revelation and reason as underpinning references, Islamic thought preaches the same pillars and concepts through the five necessities that Islam underlines as a reference for developing people and protecting them against being drained in any form. In view of this, the present paper has sought to review sustainable development in education and the relevant theories in the light of Islamic thought during crises (COVID-19 pandemic as a model). This endeavour is to identify the common ground between general theories of sustainable development in education and the foundations laid by Islamic thought under crises and pandemics based on revelation. The study aimed to solve pending educational issues and look for effective solutions through the sustainable development strategy and the relevant Islamic theories. The study applied the descriptive analytical method to identify and examine these theories. It was concluded that Islamic thought has both depth and inclusiveness, along with a continued momentum to achieve educational development, sustainability, and growth through the foundations it has laid for attaining sustainable development in education.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83983526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 82 Year 2020 concerning the Committee on Handling the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) and National Economic Recovery, Indonesia’s policy integrated health and economic strategies. The regulation adopted an interdisciplinary strategy moving towards multidisciplinarity in handling Covid-19 whereby both were deemed insufficient. The theoretical framework in this study applied Ken Wilber’s Universal Integralism or Holonic Integralism. This research employs the method of comparison of thinking. The present study establishes a transdisciplinary policy for handling Covid-19 in Indonesia with four strategies: subjective, objective, intersubjective, and interobjective. The researcher compares Indonesian Muslim thinkers on the four strategies models, namely Kuntowijoyo representing the subjective and objective strategy model, M. Amin Abdullah representing the intersubjective strategy model, and Yudian Wahyudi representing the inter-objective strategy model. This finding implies that the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia will be more synergistic and interconnected between all sectors of human life.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"95 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83925616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The significance of this research lies not only in the different answers it provides regarding this issue, but also in the questions it coins to win the bet of waking the collective social consciousness and convincing it of the necessity of Islam in such circumstances as a guide and guard of human stability. This research pursues an analytical methodology that is partly deconstructive and partly historical as it traces the positions Islam took in response to epidemics based on the collective consciousness of the society in its specific historical context. It is the goal of this study to develop an understanding of the way religion responds to pandemics and its ability to help overcome its negative impact through unique intellectual and creedal powers that lie in its foundational fundamentals. Furthermore, the Malay concept of ‘sejahtera’ has received wide attention from our community during this pandemic COVID-19 to ensure communities health. It is an important concept that deals with the issue of quality of life, society and civilisation as well. Given its importance, nurturing, and sustaining of a humane, peaceful, balanced and prosperous civilisation in this period of heightened global crises, in which most of mankind are currently starving for ‘sejahtera’ and struggling against an unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the Malay concept of ‘sejahtera’ will be reviewed from an Islamic thought perspective to build an alternative paradigm of holistic and sustainable development from the worldview of Tawḥīd. Apart from many discussions on the pandemic from a wide range of such perspectives, scholarly attention is still rarely mainly in trying to elaborate the critical overview from an Islamic perspective following theological, historical, and sociological points of view. In this paper, the critical elaboration of the pandemic has been widely discussed by analysing the contents of sacred scriptures and responses from an Islamic point of view. The literature was critically conducted from religious sources such as the Qur’an and Hadith, and also related contemporary works. The finding reveals that the pandemic has been given full attention as stated in the Qur’an and narrated in Hadith by taking a lesson from pandemics and strategically battling the pandemic. The following attentions were addressed in order to strengthen the Muslim community and society in order to support the health protocols arranged by the local and international health organizations. The value is that religion’s clear comprehension could give continued support to encourage the Muslim community especially and general society at large in the attempts to battle the spreading pandemic.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"70 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83755450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With that, he has also developed his original thought in various fields. His thought in the field of ethics, the content of adab, the central concept in his system of thought, and the essential teaching of Islam, is hardly elaborated. Thanks to that, it seems crucial to look into his view on ethical norms – its basis and principles – in such a way that his Islamization of ethics by means of infusing worldview of Islam into universal concept of ethics – a concept whose definition is universal, because its element can be found in any specific definition belonging to any worldview – can be known subsequently. Theory of Islamization of present-day knowledge – isolation and infusion process – is used for analyzing al-Attas’ view on ethical norms and theory of transparent worldview is applied also for analyzing his Islamization of ethics. Finally, according to al-Attas, the basis of ethics is religion approved by sound reason, knowledge, and the freedom of the will, whereas its principles are self-perfection, freedom, true faith and knowledge, happiness, and individual contract. As for his Islamized concept of ethics, it is a permanent attitude, action, assertion, and consideration belonging to spiritual aspect of man in his relation to his self, God, society, and state.","PeriodicalId":53770,"journal":{"name":"Afkar-Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-Journal of Aqidah & Islamic Thought","volume":"62 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89196527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
