Finding the best strategy for Voltage control and power loss reduction is a critical task for the distribution network operator (DNO). The main contributions of the proposed work are (i) determination of size and location of the Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (DSTATCOM) with (OLTC). (ii) to minimize the power loss and Voltage deviation with the Volt/var control strategy. (iii) To obtain the impact of single and multiple D-STATCOM units with and without OLTC. The proposed method is tested on two test systems: (i) IEEE-69 RDS and (ii) IEEE-25 bus three-phase unbalanced system. The benefits of the proposed results are addressed in the reduction of power loss, enhancement of the Voltage profile, and the annual cost of saving for the DNO. The results are tabulated, verified, and compared with other methods. The power loss is reduced to 39.25%, 38.04% for 69 bus and 25 bus test systems. The minimum Voltage profile is enhanced from 0.90918 pu to 0.9619 pu for 69 bus RDS and from 0.922559 pu to 0.9747 pu for 25 bus three-phase system.","PeriodicalId":53436,"journal":{"name":"Smart Science","volume":"11 1","pages":"334 - 354"},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2022-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46565245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple attempts have been devoted to integrating MCS with IoT-based smart cities where crowdsensing has played a crucial role in the recent past. Despite having potential features, MCS devices lack efficiency when security aspects are concerned. The current security approaches exercised in MCS operations imply limited features and are not intelligent enough to deal with different types of attacks in IoT smart cities. On the other hand, as MCS communications involve radio environmental mapping functional blocks from communication, it is an obvious situation that leads to a vulnerable situation of which adversarial modules can take advantage of it. There are different types of active and passive modes of attacks that can degrade the Quality-of-Service (QoS) aspects in IoT-driven smart city operations. This study’s prime aim and the appealing theme is to realize the need for resilient approaches to intelligent intrusion detection in MCS to mitigate different attacks. The study also introduces a theoretical approach of cluster-enabled multi-task (CeMT) based on bio-inspired learning modeling of the genetic approach to identify the maximum possible threats and misbehaving devices in the smart city-based MCS operations. The study also evaluated the model’s performance based on the processing time of identifying malicious events and showed the accuracy of detecting misbehaving working associate (WA) modules. Prepared films were characterized using available techniques. The prepared film shows a semi-crystalline nature, proved by XRD analysis, and the nano-scale crystalline size (40–150 nm) was also observed. The surface of the film was smooth and a blooming flower resembling structure appeared in the SEM images obtained at 5 µm. The XPS and EDX spectra reveal the presence of added transition metals and other elements present in the prepared polymer thin film. The prepared film undergoes multistage decomposition upon heating, which was proved by TGA analysis. FT-IR analysis of the film shows that there was no chemical interaction between the added compound and the host polymer; instead, physical interactions alone persisted. Higher AC conductivity was observed with a value of 1.30 × 10−6 Scm−1 at room temperature for polymer composite film made up of MONC and DCHP. This conductance varies with temperature, and at higher temperatures, both dielectric loss and dielectric constant are high. It was discovered that the presence of chalcone moiety improves the AC conductance and dielectric properties of MONC doped polymer composite film. The increased power demand needs optimized planning for all the sections of power system. Economic dispatch is one of the important areas in which new optimization techniques can add to the overall improvement in the power system planning. Recent technological improvement in microgrids results in economic and efficient operation considering both conventional and non-conventional methods of generation. This paper highlights the optimal scheduling requirement in the advanced power system control by introducing a new proposed metaheuristic hybrid approach, i.e., Chaotic Spotted Hyena Optimization (CSHO). The proposed approach improves and intensifies the conventional approach and the results obtained are compared with some well-known published approaches using standard data. The CSHO is implemented on an islanded microgrid having five distributed generators out of which three are conventional generators and two are renewable sources. Three objectives are tested on the microgrid-(1) Economic scheduling, (2) Environmental emission and (3) CEED for Microgrid and the results of proposed approach are tested in four scenarios and compared with the PSO, DE, SOS, GWO and WOA approaches. The result achieved from the proposed approach is remarkable over previous approaches and showing enhanced economic operation, which are verified and presented in different sections of paper.","PeriodicalId":53436,"journal":{"name":"Smart Science","volume":"11 1","pages":"215 - 225"},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2022-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43577240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Gaussian beam intensity measuring method is proposed for this optical pickup unit (OPU)-based AFM. Only partial components inside the OPU such as the laser diode, the objective, and the photodiode IC (PDIC) are required for this method. The displacement of the cantilever can be acquired by analyzing the exponential intensity change, which is along the optic axis of the laser, reflected to the PDIC. A support controller for the DeF-AFM is also designed and developed. The dynamic measuring ranges of this AFM in X, Y, and Z-axis are designed to be 12,000 nm, 12,000 nm, and 1400 nm, respectively. Due to sudden load and wind power variations in a wind–diesel power system, power imbalances may force the system frequency to deviate from its nominal value and drive the system to operate in an unstable mode. Therefore, in a wind–diesel power system using a converter interface, a fast-acting and high power density SMES device is interconnected to carry the required power exchange whenever power imbalances occur. Based on switching manifold design, a sliding mode controller is developed to control the charging and discharging operations of SMES coil as per the power requirements, and the same is achieved by controlling the converter. A neural network using a radial basis function (RBF) is developed to estimate the unknown function of the system. Lyapunov stability analysis is conducted to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the system. MATLAB simulations are carried out and are presented to show the improved performance with the system exposed to disturbances in load and wind power. However, these motors have comparatively lower efficiency. Motors such as permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM), or switched reluctance motor are energy efficient. Although these motors posses high efficiency, the application cost becomes a significant concern. To cause the compatible performance of economical and conventional SPIM in terms of efficiency, lower temperature rise, weight reduction, and increased speed, this work addresses the conversion of SPIM into line-start SynRM (LS-SynRM). The required necessary modifications are analyzed using FEM. The design methodology is suggested for a typical 0.5HP SPIM that is tested in terms of rotor constructive parameters. The parametric sensitivity analysis is carried out using Ansys Maxwell FEM software. The rotor parameters such as cutout dimensions, type of barrier, their positions and widths, bridge thickness, pole arc to pole pitch ratios, and the end ring configurations are considered for the analysis. It has been determined that the efficiency is largely affected by the barrier positions and its width, and an improvement of two percent has been noted. However, the efficiency of LS-SynRM is also a function of bridge thickness, with higher values inferior is the efficiency.
