Algunos años después, fue localizada también en la provincia de La Habana, a 65 msnm. En el presente estudio, se muestran los primeros hallazgos de esta especie para La Española, donde se ha localizado en entornos agrestes del municipio de Jarabacoa, provincia de La Vega, República Dominicana, a una altitud entre los 528 y 657 msnm. Los estados preimaginales fueron encontrados en hábitats naturales y artificiales, como huecos excavados en las rocas, troncos de bambú, charcos de agua de lluvia y en contenedores artificiales.\u0000\u0000\u0000Culex (Culex) garciai was first described by González Broche (2000) from specimens collected in the eastern Cuban provinces of Granma and Santiago de Cuba, between 120 and 620 MASL, respectively. Later, the species was also found in the province of Havana above 65 MASL. In this study, the first records of this species from Hispaniola are given. Cx. garciai has been located in a mountainous rural area in the municipality of Jarabacoa, Province of La Vega, Dominican Republic, between 528 and 657 MASL. Una alternativa de control son los productos naturales, destacándose los aceites esenciales. Se evaluó la actividad repelente del aceite esencial de Bursera graveolens Jacq. ex L. contra T. castaneum aplicando el método de área de preferencia. Los resultados muestran diferencias significativas (p menor que 0.005) entre el área tratada y no tratada en las dosis 0.02, y 0.2 µL/cm2 luego de dos horas de exposición. Dicha actividad decreció al aumentar el tiempo de exposición. En conclusión, el aceite esencial de B. graveolens podría ser un repelente efectivo contra este insecto plaga.\u0000\u0000\u0000Tribolium castaneum (Herbst, 1797) is a plague that infest store products, mainly grains. One alternative to control it is the use of natural products, highlighting the essential oils. It was evaluated the repellent activity of the essential oil of Bursera graveolens Jacq. ex L. towards T. castaneum. Results shows significant differences (p less than 0.005) between the treated area and the non trated area at 0.02, and 0.2 µL/cm2 doses after two hours of exposition. Repellent activity decreased when the time of exposition increased. En el presente estudio se analizó el efecto de nueve aislados bacterianos sobre la germinación de conidios de B. cinerea. Los aislados se identificaron como Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Para evaluar la eficacia de los aislados, se realizaron confrontaciones duales tanto preventivas como simultáneas con los conidios de B. cinerea. Los resultados mostraron que cinco aislados fueron más eficaces cuando se co-inocularon simultáneamente con el patógeno. Cuatro aislados fueron más eficaces cuando se inocularon previamente cuatro horas antes el patógeno. La cepa denominada B24, mostró una inhibición de (84.04%) en concentraciones muy bajas (3x103 UFC/ml) y la cepa RA9 fue la cepa menos eficaz.\u0000\u0000\u0000Botrytis cinerea is a necrotrophic fungal plant pathogen distributed worldwide. In the current study, the effect of nine bacterial isolates, on germination of B. cinerea conidia were studied. The nine isolates were identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The efficacy of isolates was tested, at different concentrations, in preventive and simultaneous inoculations with B. cinerea conidia. Results showed that five Bacillus isolates were more effective when co-inoculated simultaneously with the pathogen. Four isolates showed more efficacies when inoculated previously four hours before the pathogen.
