Según los datos recolectados en terreno, la posposición reve, que generalmente es empleada en las lenguas de la familia tupi-guaraní para expresar relaciones de compañía y asociación, ha extendido sus contextos de uso en mbya como marcador de predicaciones secundarias depictivas cuando se adjunta a una base verbal. Escasos son los antecedentes en el estudio de la predicación secundaria y de esta construcción en las lenguas de la familia (cfr. Dooley 2013; Dietrich 2009). La propuesta del presente trabajo es analizar los [V2-reve] en mbya como una construcción depictiva (Schultze-Berndt y Himmelmann 2004; Himmelmann y Schultze-Berndt 2005) con base en que estas formas reducidas no pueden ser el único predicado de una oración y expresan un estado de cosas que tiene lugar durante la referencia temporal del evento expresado por el predicado principal, codificando predominantemente significados orientados a un participante del evento.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87441338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data in this paper come from elicitation and from narratives collected at different times since the 1990’s. The facts show that there is a restriction in co-occurrence between future tense and the quotative relational only in embedded clauses. Otherwise, the reportative evidential can co-occur with a future tense marker. Moreover, this work investigates the syntactic position of the reportative evidential examining its placement in relation to negative markers and complementizers. Negation offers strong evidence that the evidential one is at the sentential level, since it interacts syntactically and morphologically with negation. Kadiwéu is a language from the Chaco area, located between Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Bolivia. It belongs to the Guaikuruan linguistic family.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88832810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

O trabalho aponta fragilidades e eventuais inconsistências de cada ortografia adotada nas aldeias, argumentando a favor da ideia de que nenhuma delas pode ser defendida como “melhor” ou mais justificada que as outras. A seguir, o texto informa com quais princípios e critérios foi estabelecida uma ortografia para ser utilizada em um projeto específico que envolve um importante recurso de comunicação e informação: os smartphones. O texto também aponta problemas pendentes nessa ortografia específica, incluindo as questões sociolinguísticas não levadas em conta nas ortografias hoje em uso pelos falantes; problemas e questões que devem ser levados em conta se, ou quando, a recém-criada Academia da Língua Nheengatu decidir-se por discutir a questão da unificação ortográfica.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88001213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the comparative studies by Key (1968) and Girard (1971) the proposal of a genetic relationship between these two families was generally accepted (e.g. Loos 1973, 2005; Suárez 1973; Kaufman 1990; Campbell 1997). Without solid argumentation, however, this classification was later put into question (Fabre 1998; Loos 1999; Fleck 2013) and, even today, there is no full consensus as to whether the observed similarities are due to genetic inheritance or long-term language contact. The present paper offers lexical and grammatical evidence in support of the hypothesis that Pano and Takana are genetically connected. Comparing for the first time what can be considered Proto-Pano and Proto-Takana reconstructions, it is shown that 18 of the 40 items in the basic vocabulary list proposed by the Automated Similarity Judgment Program (asjp) (Holman et al. 2008) might be cognate; this includes 9 body-part terms. Also, a set of alleged grammatical cognates are assembled, and shared constructions involving motion verbal morphology, intransive and transitive auxiliaries, transitivity harmony restrictions, and switch-reference are discussed.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72518308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show here that the supposed evidence from loanwords is artifactual, that the comparison between 18th Guaná and modern Terena rests on an arbitrarily selective and, ultimately, misleading treatment of the relevant sources, and that the claimed ancestor-descendant relationship between Old Mojeño and Trinitario is at odds with other well-established claims about the history of Mojeño dialects, in addition to being an unnecessary and extraneous assumption. Moreover, a lexical stratification of the Mojeño lexicon in terms of basic and less-basic strata shows that the main correspondence favored by Ramirez & França (2019) as the reflex of Proto-Arawakan *a in Mojeño is essentially restricted to nonbasic vocabulary, a finding that vindicates Carvalho & Rose’s (2018) interpretation of this pattern as reflecting dialect borrowing or diffusion.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"44 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74304574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most common strategies are conjunctions and converbs. Interestingly, in a number of Amazonian languages, positive purpose meanings are expressed with a conjunction or a converb in combination with other morphosyntactic properties. We briefly examine the areality of positive purpose clause-linkage patterns in four contact zones in the Amazonia: the Vaupés region, the Caquetá-Putumayo region, the Southern Guiana region, and the Marañon-Huallaga region. Besides analyzing the range of ways by which positive purpose clauses are realized in the sample, we also investigate avertive clauses in a number of languages of the database. Amazonian languages show an interesting typological picture in that they tend to have avertive markers which may be intraclausal or relational.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79887751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A necessidade de adequação do ensino ministrado em escolas indígenas para a inclusão de estudantes surdos traz à tona questões que envolvem as políticas linguísticas e as políticas de educação especial para estudantes surdos que vivem em comunidades indígenas plurilíngues. Buscou-se conhecer e levantar as múltiplas interfaces entre essas modalidades, enfatizando as línguas, os dispositivos político-normativos e as articulações entre ambas as áreas, sobretudo aqueles produzidos com base no princípio da Educação Inclusiva. A pesquisa foi qualitativa com a orientação teórica dos estudos pós-críticos e a etnografia pós-moderna, no intuito de conhecer e explorar modos alternativos de pensar, falar e fazer determinadas práticas sociais, realizada em contextos específicos, onde são observadas as micropolíticas do cotidiano que constituem e são constituídas pelos discursos dominantes de nossa sociedade. Conhecer as diferentes realidades e práticas de inclusão no Brasil e outros países oportuniza uma melhor compreensão dos cotidianos escolares diversos e plurilíngues, além de permitir se pensar em construir novas e diferentes políticas linguísticas que contemplem as múltiplas realidades vivenciadas pelos sujeitos indígenas surdos.","PeriodicalId":52952,"journal":{"name":"Liames","volume":"99 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74989489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
