Experiments are carried out on specimens with residual stress generated by local heating. Flat specimens made of A36 steel are prepared to be suitable for setting up fatigue bending tests on a vibrating table. Several groups of samples are subjected to VSR at resonant frequencies with different acceleration amplitudes. The results show that VSR has an important influence on the residual stress and fatigue limit of steel specimens. The maximum residual stress in the samples is reduced about 73% when the amplitude of vibration acceleration is 57 m/s2. The VSR method can also improve the fatigue limit by up to 14% for steel samples with residual stress.

Customer satisfaction is one of the basic measures of the quality of drinking water service. Hence, this study was analyzed the perception of residential customers’ satisfaction of National water supply and drainage board (NWSDB) with domestic drinking water service in Karachchi divisional secretariat division of Kilinochchi district. The analyse was based on customers’ perception of ten selected satisfaction drivers, a set of structured questionnaire was administered for 150 residential customers of NWSDB using google form, however only 131 of them responded . The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and a customer satisfaction index (CSI) model. The calculated CSI was 3.68 points on a 5 point scale, which meant that drinking water service in the study area was perceived as satisfactory by the residential customers. In addition, two-third of the customers were willing to pay for water, while one-third of them were not willing to pay based on their overall perception of the services of the NWSDB. This illustrates that the service of the NWSDB to its customers was adequate despite an improvement . To recommend, there is a positive correlation between safely managed/improved drinking water services and customers’ willingness to pay for water service. The NWSDB should undertake to improve drinking water services. Resultant, NWSDB should recover cost, provide water service to the whole district/national population to achieve the SDGS which are directly and indirectly depend on SDG6.\u0000\u0000\u0000

For a prolonged period of time, analysis of blood samples is the basis for bio medical observations of living creatures. Cell size, shape, constituents, count, ratios are few of the features identified using DIP based analysis and these features provide an overview of the state of human body which is important in identifying present medical conditions and indicating possible future complications. In addition, functionality of the immune system is observed using results of blood tests. In FBC tests, identification of different blood cell types and counting the number of cells of each type is required to obtain results. Literature discuss various techniques and methods and this article presents an insightful review on human blood cell morphology, photomicrography, digital image processing of photomicrographs, feature extraction and classification, and recent advances. Past studies highlight the poor project-level practices resulting in productivity loss in many developing countries, including Sri Lanka. It is essential for construction management teams to have a proper controlling hand on the project-level factors that influence construction productivity. The engineers and construction managers are the key decision-makers in construction project activities. This study aimed to quantify the impacts of project-level factors on the productivity of construction operations in Sri Lankan building projects based on the viewpoint of engineers and construction managers. Initially, the project-level factors were qualitatively identified through a comprehensive literature review. A questionnaire survey was carried out among engineers and construction managers from 90 leading Sri Lankan building construction contractors. The Relative Importance Index (RII) method was used to measure the impacts of the project-level factors on construction productivity. The results spotlight the need for reinforcing the current planning and monitoring practices from construction management teams focusing on construction methods, working conditions, scheduling and sequencing of construction tasks, health and safety practices, quality control practices, reworks, labour skills improvement and workforce overtime. The statistical assessments ensured the reliability and validity of the results. In addition, a series of industry consultative workshops and discussion sessions were conducted among construction experts through problem-based communication approaches to identify future actions in the construction project planning processes. These discussion outcomes also ensured the validity of the above results. The study outcomes will push the construction management practices to reduce the conflict situations between the project-level activities in different stages, leading to the achievement of organizational goals. Although the study findings are limited to the Sri Lankan context, some findings may be tested in other developing countries in similar scenarios.

To apply clustering analysis to real estate datasets, this study proposes an entity embedding approach that transforms categorical variables into vector representations. Three variants of a clustering algorithm, i.e., the clustering based on the traditional Euclidean distance, the Gower distance, and the embedding vectors, are applied to the land sales records to delineate the real estate market in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi province, South Korea. Then, the relevance of the resultant submarkets is evaluated using the root mean squared errors (RMSE) obtained from a hedonic pricing model. The results show that the RMSE in the embedding vector-based algorithm decreases substantially from 0.076-0.077 to 0.069. This study shows that the clustering algorithm empowered by embedding vectors outperforms the conventional algorithms, thereby enhancing the relevance of the delineated submarkets.

The rectangular patch antenna with meandered and open-ended slot cuts is utilized to realize four operating bands at 2.45 GHz, 3.1 GHz, 5.3 GHz, and 6.5 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 400 MHz (2.15-2.550 GHz), 1000 MHz (2.7-3.7 GHz), 200 MHz (5.4-5.6 GHz), and 200 MHz (6.4-6.6 GHz), respectively. For an additional resonance frequency, the length of the central T-shaped stub is slightly modified which causes the variation in the current distribution. As a result, the resonance frequency of 5.5 GHz is divided into two resonance frequency bands which are operating at 5.25 GHz and 5.85 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 100 MHz (5.25-5.35 GHz) and 200 MHz (5.75-5.95 GHz), respectively. Furthermore, a parametric reflection coefficient and surface current distribution analysis is carried out to understand the strip and slot behavior at resonance frequency bands. Finally, a prototype is fabricated and its reflection coefficient, gain, and radiation pattern are measured. The experimental result shows that the proposed antenna is reliable for penta band applications.

The integral transform technique is employed to obtain the spatial displacement-time domain response of the pipe-fluid system. Then, a closed-form analytical expression is presented. The effects of various geometric and system parameters on the vibration characteristics of pipe-fluid system with different flow velocities are discussed. The results illustrate that the proposed analytical solution agrees with the solutions achieved in previous works. The proposed model predicts that the pipe loses the stability by divergence with the increasing flow velocity. It is evident that the influences of inclination angle and temperature variation are dramatically increased at a higher aspect ratio. Additionally, it is demonstrated that the temperature variation becomes a more harmful effect than the internal fluid velocity on the stability of the pipe at elevated temperature.

As conventional metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) are unable to satisfy the demands due to short channel effects, the purpose of the study is to design an alternative of MOSFETs. Graphene FETs are one of the alternatives of MOSFETs due to the excellent properties of graphene material. In this work, a user-defined graphene material is defined, and a graphene channel FET is implemented using the Silvaco technology computer-aided design (TCAD) tool at 100 nm and scaled to 20 nm channel length. A silicon channel MOSFET is also implemented to compare the performance. The results show the improvement in subthreshold slope (SS) = 114 mV/dec, ION/IOFF ratio = 14379, and drain induced barrier lowering (DIBL) = 123 mV/V. It is concluded that graphene FETs are suitable candidates for low power applications.
