Since independence, there has been incredible growth in the landscape of higher education. According to the recent statistics from about 20 universities in 1950, there are now about 1040 universities. About 135 of these institutions are regarded as Institutions of National Importance (INI). From these figures, it is seen that the number of education universities and enrollment has geared up which has also given rise to the concern for quality and relevance of the education imparted. The quality of education and its relevance can be judged from the assessment and evaluation patterns. According to the New Education Policy 2020, Higher education is treated as a program as it is intended not only to impart knowledge it is also to develop certain associated skills thereby inculcating a specific type of attitude. Therefore, they should be looked at and evaluated as a training program. There are various models which are proposed by various researchers and trainers in different eras. This research paper intends to study these models in detail and tries to propose a new evaluation model which will be a step toward Education 4.0. In an era defined by rapid technological advancements and continual change, the imperative for engineering educators is to equip students with the requisite abilities to thrive in today's landscape. Meeting this challenge necessitates innovative pedagogical approaches aligned with contemporary teaching and learning paradigms. Consequently, this paper introduces a comprehensive framework comprising six distinct teaching-learning strategies designed to cultivate crucial attributes in engineering students. These strategies focus on nurturing creativity and critical thinking, fostering collaborative learning environments, harnessing teaching as a learning tool, incorporating thematic-based case studies for enhanced comprehension, facilitating group-based learning opportunities, and refining communication skills alongside effective problem-solving techniques. Together, these methodologies form an integrated educational strategy that not only enhances students' cognitive capacities but also addresses the interpersonal and adaptive skills crucial for success in the intricate and ever-changing realm of engineering. As engineering education navigates the modern landscape, these outlined methodologies serve as a guide for instructors to empower their students with the multifaceted proficiencies demanded by today's evolving technological sphere. This has its impact in the field of education as well in terms of pedagogies, interactive tools, learning management systems, and more specifically instructional materials. Amongst the instructional materials, e-books have recently become popular in the sphere of education. It gained popularity during the pandemic situation when the shops were shut to get printed books which reinforced students to adopt e-books. This study intends to find the preference of the students of Velammal College of Engineering & Technology in Madurai with respect to e-books (not the interactive ones) and printed books so that the results can facilitate in decision making as to what kind of sources the educationists should invest on. A survey was conducted using a structured fivepoint Likert scale questionnaire. It was shared with the students and their responses were recorded. Random sampling method was used for the choice of the participants. Cronbach alpha test was carried out to verify the reliability of the questionnaire. Having carried out the t-test to check whether the two groups vary from each other, the comparative analysis research methodology was used for data analysis. This study also deals with the pros and cons of both e-books and printed books based on the survey. The results of the study confirms that the students still seem to prefer printed books over e-books. The findings suggest that the educationists should prioritize student preferences and ensure the availability of light weight printed books everywhere. It has not only augmented the efficacy of telecommunication but also facilitated lifelong teaching and learning. ICT played a remarkable role in assisting students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, schools and colleges have been closed to prevent its lethal impact. In order to facilitate teaching-learning during the pandemic, the entire educational system was shifted to an online mode of knowledge dissemination. In the online mode, both students and teachers encountered some difficulties. During lockdowns, mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, were used to conduct online experiments via virtual platforms. Electricity charges, especially in a residential institution, is one of the biggest drain on finances. In this case study, we would like to discuss the grid connected roof top solar project in Army Institute of Technology (AIT), Dighi, Pune. This 350 kW system has been installed without any cost to AIT, on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, for 25 years at the rate of Rs 6/- per electricity unit. The power generated by the system is approximately 1000 to 1200 electricity units per day as against a requirement of about 1800 to 2000 electricity units per day. Net Metering Policy implemented by Maharashtra Government enables AIT to send excess electricity generated during day time back to the grid. This excess power given to the grid is credited back during night time. A new Net Meter has been installed in AIT that provides daily status of the power import/export. This has resulted in Cost Savings of nearly Rs 1,50,000/- per month which comes close to Rs 18,00,000/- per annum.
