Among these resources, Phraseology stands out, given the close relationship between Plautus’s comedies and everyday life. The characters in the plays belong to very different social and economic classes, and these differences are also reflected in the language in general and in Phraseology in particular. Following this line of thought, I analyze the phraseological units that Plautus puts in the mouth of the character of the parasite in order to study the close relationship between Phraseology and the depiction of characters.","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given the extension of this capital work of the first Aragonese Renaissance, this research aims to offer a panoramic description of the phraseology used in its prose works. In order to show the outline of some diachronic and dialectal networks, the historical trajectory of the paremia ¡No quiero, no quiero! Y son como frayres, que quieren que ge lo echen en el capillo, will be specifically analyzed, as it is characterized by its dialectal projection in the Spanish of the Canary Islands. The intention is to underline, on the one hand, the constitutive link between diachronic phraseology and the history of literature and, on the other hand, the outstanding capacity of the geolectal diffusion of some phraseological units throughout the peninsular and insular linguistic geography.","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the novel analysed is L’empire du Mensonge by Aminata Sow Fall, one of the most outstanding figures in Senegalese literature. Applying the theoretical-methodological foundations initially proposed, the reading of this novel has allowed to create an inventory list of twenty-five phraseological units (locutions, proverbs, and routine formulae), not of French, but of the author’s first language, namely Wolof. With this work, and due to the peculiarity of the novel under analysis, in which an outstanding presence of words and statements of the Wolof language can be found, I contemplate a double purpose in its use of phraseology: as a stylistic resource used in order to be understood by the Senegalese reader, and as the expression of identity","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This connection has been previously considered in different contexts: Cultural History of the Senses, Philosophy, Cognitive Linguistics and, in particular, Sensory Linguistics. The main objective is to find out how this correlation manifests linguistically in Spanish producing multi-word lexical units, specifically collocations. I thus try to determine which lexical units linked to touch make up the structure of these collocations and what types of tactile properties are related to these units. Considering the data extracted from the combinatory dictionary REDES, the existence of «tactile» collocations representing the materialization of the perception metaphor understanding is touching has been verified. The conclusion reached is that the sense of touch is a productive source domain in the Spanish language, becoming the basis for the creation of a large number of collocations linked to the domain of meta intellect.","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, these idioms present a considerable theoretical vagueness, as a consequence of the complex historical codification of a concept in which very different areas are involved (rhetoric, literature, folklore, or grammar). In this work, the main historical milestones in the treatment of this phenomenon are described: from the consideration of the simile within ecclesiastical rhetoric to the modern postulates of the 20th century, also including its grammatization in the grammatical treatises for foreigners of the 16th and 17th centuries, or the great compilations of the international movement of Folklore since the second half of the 19th century. A double objective is pursued: a) to contribute to a better knowledge of the so-called Spanish phraseography; and b) to use the historiographical argument as a basis to achieve a greater characterization of comparative phraseological constructions nowadays.","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then, they are grouped according to the meaning they refer to and, after a formal analysis following the cohesion tests established by Montoro del Arco (2006: 190-197), their status as intrasentential phraseological units with prepositional or adverbial function is validated. The discrepancy on the possibility of establishing a canon of Castilian authors similar to Latin as the basis of the grammatical norm can be observed, together with its relationship with the parallel resource to Phraseology, in particular to proverbs or phraseological units that are identified within this denomination. This work focuses on the study of these issues in the autochthonous Castilian grammars of the interval between the publication of Nebrija’s Gramática sobre la lengua castellana (1492), and the period of the eighteenth century prior to the publication of the first Gramática of the Royal Spanish Academy.","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first text, dating from 1210, was written in Latin, while the other, from 1253, is a translation of the earlier document in the Romance language of the time, following the command of Alfonso X to “translate into Romance... letters written in Latin... so that all women and men may understand them”. This allows for a direct comparison of the legal expressions in the two documents and thus for a study that sheds light on the origins of a considerable number of legal constructions and their transfer from Latin to Romance. While situated within the framework of Philology, the analysis also takes into account the contributions of other, more recent, approaches to the study of phraseology, such as that of Construction Grammar, also allowing for an appraisal of the capacity and technique displayed by the scribes of that period to manage two different registers, notarial Latin and Romance, throughout the process of translation.","PeriodicalId":52073,"journal":{"name":"REVISTA DE FILOLOGIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69116080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
