An unbalanced representation of the classification's targets in these data is a common challenge because classification techniques are biased toward the major class. Many methods have attempted to address this problem but have been exaggeratedly biased toward the minor class. In this work, we propose a method for balancing the presence of the minor class within the current window of the data stream while preserving the data's original majority as much as possible. The proposed method utilized similarity analysis for selecting specific instances from the previous window. This group of minor-class was then added to the current window's instances. Implementing the proposed method using the Siena dataset showed promising results compared to the Skew ensemble method and some other research methods.
","PeriodicalId":520609,"journal":{"name":"Entropy (Basel, Switzerland)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2022-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9689083/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40509022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address this problem, we propose an infrared and visible image fusion model based on significant target enhancement, aiming to inject thermal targets from infrared images into visible images to enhance target saliency while retaining important details in visible images. First, the source image is decomposed with multi-level Gaussian curvature filtering to obtain background information with high spatial resolution. Second, the large-scale layers are fused using ResNet50 and maximizing weights based on the average operator to improve detail retention. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes a design method for R1234yf ejectors based on the gas dynamic method and optimizes the geometrical parameters including the area ratio (AR) and nozzle exit position (NXP) to improve its performance through the control variable optimization algorithms. Based on the validated simulation model, the results show that the entrainment ratio increases initially and then decreases with the increase in AR and NXP, respectively; the AR has a significant effect on the shock wave position in the mixing chamber and the NXP can directly influence the expansion state of motive fluid; the ejector performance increases by about 17% over the initial entrainment ratio by the control variable optimization algorithms. To mitigate the cubic computational complexity of the vanilla formulation of the optimal transport problem, regularized optimal transport has received attention in recent years, which is a convex program to minimize the linear transport cost with an added convex regularizer. Sinkhorn optimal transport is the most prominent one regularized with negative Shannon entropy, leading to densely supported solutions, which are often undesirable in light of the interpretability of transport plans. In this paper, we report that a deformed entropy designed by q-algebra, a popular generalization of the standard algebra studied in Tsallis statistical mechanics, makes optimal transport solutions supported sparsely. This entropy with a deformation parameter q interpolates the negative Shannon entropy (q=1) and the squared 2-norm (q=0), and the solution becomes more sparse as q tends to zero. Our theoretical analysis reveals that a larger q leads to a faster convergence when optimized with the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno (BFGS) algorithm. In summary, the deformation induces a trade-off between the sparsity and convergence speed.
","PeriodicalId":520609,"journal":{"name":"Entropy (Basel, Switzerland)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2022-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9689736/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40678000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The D-S evidence theory is an effective means of information fusion that can handle not only uncertainty and inconsistency, but also ambiguity and instability. This work develops a node sensing probability model based on D-S evidence. When there are major evidence disputes, the priority factor is introduced to reassign the sensing probability, with the purpose of addressing the issue of the traditional D-S evidence theory aggregation rule not conforming to the actual scenario and producing an erroneous result. For optimizing node deployment, a virtual force-directed particle swarm optimization approach is proposed, and the optimization goal is to maximize network coverage. The approach employs the virtual force algorithm, whose virtual forces are fine-tuned by the sensing probability. The study was conducted for two watersheds in Canada, namely Lower Nicola River, BC and Loup, QC. Three statistical metrics were used to validate the models: Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve, Figure of Merit, and F1-score. Findings indicated that the RF model had the highest accuracy in providing the flood susceptibility maps (FSMs). Moreover, the provided FSMs indicated that flooding is more likely to occur in the Lower Nicola River watershed than the Loup watershed. Following the RCP4.5 scenario, the area percentages of the flood susceptibility classes in the Loup watershed in 2050 and 2080 have changed by the following percentages from the year 2020 and 2050, respectively: Very Low = -1.68%, Low = -5.82%, Moderate = +6.19%, High = +0.71%, and Very High = +0.6% and Very Low = -1.61%, Low = +2.98%, Moderate = -3.49%, High = +1.29%, and Very High = +0.83%. Likewise, in the Lower Nicola River watershed, the changes between the years 2020 and 2050 and between the years 2050 and 2080 were: Very Low = -0.38%, Low = -0.81%, Moderate = -0.95%, High = +1.72%, and Very High = +0.42% and Very Low = -1.31%, Low = -1.35%, Moderate = -1.81%, High = +2.37%, and Very High = +2.1%, respectively. The impact of climate changes on future flood-prone places revealed that the regions designated as highly and very highly susceptible to flooding, grow in the forecasts for both watersheds. The analysis, performed at a mean field level and from which localization is detected, relies on the study of two observables: the inverse participation ratio (IPR) and the Shannon entropy in the coordinate space. Those physical quantities were determined from a robust statistical study for the stationary density profiles of the interacting condensate. Localization was identified for each lattice type as a function of the potential depth. Our analysis revealed a range of the potential depths for which the condensate density becomes localized, from partially at random lattice sites to fully in a single site. Minsky and Papert considered elementary perceptrons with restrictions on the neural inputs: a bounded number of connections or a relatively small diameter of the receptive field for each neuron at the hidden layer. They proved that under these constraints, an elementary perceptron cannot solve some problems, such as the connectivity of input images or the parity of pixels in them. In this note, we demonstrated Rosenblatt's first theorem at work, showed how an elementary perceptron can solve a version of the travel maze problem, and analysed the complexity of that solution. We also constructed a deep network algorithm for the same problem. It is much more efficient. The shallow network uses an exponentially large number of neurons on the hidden layer (Rosenblatt's A-elements), whereas for the deep network, the second-order polynomial complexity is sufficient. We demonstrated that for the same complex problem, the deep network can be much smaller and reveal a heuristic behind this effect.
","PeriodicalId":520609,"journal":{"name":"Entropy (Basel, Switzerland)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2022-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9689667/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"40678003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
