Data were collected from the Integrated Attendance Records (RAI) system of the State of Goias Public Security Department. The study assesses: 1. The thefts and robberies records across all municipalities, 2. The list of subtracted goods, 3. The regional concentration of crimes, 4. The spatial distribution of these crimes in comparison with maps of agricultural production, and 5. The correlations of theft and robbery records with socioeconomic indicators. Results reveal that: 1. Theft represent 90% of the crimes against rural properties in Goias while robbery represent 10% of the total; 2. The main goods taken in thefts are cattle herds, household appliances, tools and household items, while most stolen goods in robberies are firearms, cash and vehicles; 3. The south, center and east of Goias encompasses the largest amount of thefts and robberies; 4. The criminal maps largely overlaps with the areas of greatest concentration of agricultural production; 5. Crime records have a strong and positive statistical correlation with both the number of rural households. As a result of the intense degradation of environmental systems caused by humans, there is a need to identify areas for environmental protection, based on the choice of landscape components and an appropriate theoretical and methodological framework in accordance with the analyzed area. This paper aims to discuss the identification of an area - part of Annex 12 of the Santa Maria Land Use and Occupation Act, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil - to be protected in a territorial zone, considering its water component. This component is of fundamental importance for providing environmental services to the population. The research was developed using the multicriteria analysis methodological strategy and established the following criteria for mapping: areas with relevance in water supply, and distance from water resources. The results showed areas of significant impact in the region presented in Annex 12, which should be considered in determining the management strategies involving land use or restrictions. Gemma, Eduardo Marandola","doi":"10.5216/BGG.V41.62839","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5216/BGG.V41.62839","url":null,"abstract":"In Brazil, since the 1960s, agriculture has undergone significant changes in the technical sphere due to adopt the productive model of modernization and the economic dimension from the consolidation of agro-industries. These transformations had an impact on peasant agriculture. This article discusses the peasant social organization and presents an analysis of the amendments relating to peasant work and agriculture, notably from sitiantes, locals of the rural neighborhoods named Corrego Bonito Delgado and Frades in Limeira, city of the state of Sao Paulo. Rural neighborhoods comprise peasant territorializations and, to a large extent, are constituted formed by families with close social ties that preserve a shared life. Memory was conceived as a social form elaborated by these subjects and thus we start using oral history as methodology. Therefore, it was noted that technical changes gradually absorbed as mechanization and use of chemicals as inputs and pesticides affected the work on the field, productivity and health. In addition, processes were initiated to subordinate the production of these peasants to the agro-industries of cotton, orange juice and sugarcane respectively. In order to answer to this question, we developed the concept of “Physico-natural Components”, believing that it brings with itself an understanding about the object of Geographic science and its teaching in Basic Education. We emphasize the need for this conceptualization in building a state of knowledge about physico-natural components in theses and dissertations related to the teaching of Geography. Through this construction, it was possible to identify: i- works that deal with these components; ii- physico-natural components contemplated in the investigations; iii- individual approach or in conjunction with other components from the same origin; iv- terminologies used to designate components within research and in school teaching; v- association between physico-natural and social components; vi- appropriation of these components so that the interpretation of a geographical situation happens in the basic school.
