C., Colombia.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>Cross-sectional study carried out in 58 children diagnosed with CD with possible visual or auditory compromise. The study population was selected from the AIVA program database, and to obtain the data, parents or legal representatives were asked to take the children for an initial medical evaluation and answer an interview. The barriers were classified according to Tanahashi's effective coverage model and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics; absolute and relative frequencies were calculated for the qualitative variables, and means and standard deviations or medians and interquartile ranges (according to the distribution of the data determined with the Shapiro-Wilk test) for the quantitative variables.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>81.03% of parents or legal representatives expressed at least one barrier, the most frequent being availability (49.38%), followed by accessibility (32.24%), acceptability (11.83%) and contact (6.53%).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The majority of parents or legal representatives interviewed reported barriers to accessing health services. {"title":"[Experiences of coping with illness in hospitalized patients in Ibagué-Tolima].","authors":"Julio E Mazorco-Salas, Paula K Carvajal-Hernández, Natalia Villanueva-Mejía","doi":"10.15446/rsap.V25n3.107220","DOIUrl":"10.15446/rsap.V25n3.107220","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>We sought to identify the experiences of coping with illness in patients of the Hospitalization services on the floor and the Coronary Intensive Care Unit of a Clinic in Ibagué (Tolima).</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>With a qualitative approach, 2 instruments were applied to 15 male and female patients, between the ages of 25 and 78 years old, who experienced different chronic pathologies.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The patients' coping experiences show the existence of repertoires of action and omission regarding coping and care of the disease, and wellbeing practices. Categories about worries, what is difficult, what is beautiful, what helps to cope with the disease, what helps to wellbeing and projections of desire when overcoming the hospitalization crisis were made explicit.</p><p><strong>Discussion: </strong>The rupture with ways of life is one of the main difficulties, which, added to the disease, uncertainty and the quality of the hospital service generates favorable or unfavorable conditions for coping.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Being able to identify the coping strategies of patients within the hospitalization time can have a positive or negative influence on their recovery. {"title":"[Quality of life and functional status at hospital discharge of patients with COVID-19 in Colombia].","authors":"Emily C Mejía-Fique, Jorge E Gerónimo-Malaver, Jennyfer Y Ospina-Olarte, Olga J Gómez-Ramírez, Hernando G Gaitán-Duarte","doi":"10.15446/rsap.V25n3.107343","DOIUrl":"10.15446/rsap.V25n3.107343","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To determine the perception of quality of life and functional status after hospital discharge in Colombian patients with COVID-19.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>A quantitative cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in which the SF-36 questionnaire and the post-COVID-19 functional status scale were applied to Colombians in the post-hospital discharge period to assess quality of life and functionality after COVID-19.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>There were 151 participants, with a mean age of 56.43 years, 68% of whom were men. 79% were in the Care Unit, the average hospital stay was 28.46 days, 22% were smokers, and 64% had comorbidities. There was evidence of a decrease in the perception of health-related quality of life, mainly in the dimensions of vitality (0.47), general health (0.56), and physical role (0.56). There was evidence of functional limitations ranging from minimal to severe. According to epidemiological bulletins from the Mayor's Office of Riohacha, there has been an unexplained increase in the number of cases in the last five years.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>This paper analyzes the factors associated with the incidence of tuberculosis cases from 2018 to 2022 reported in Sivigila. Different variables were analyzed and compared by comparison of proportions especially between 2021, 2021 and 2022 and as a group analyzed by principal component analysis using the R platform.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>It was found that men had a higher presentation than women, and of people without social security, that the age distribution of the disease was the same in the years evaluated, 90 °% of the positives were indigenous or migrants with a significant increase in the number of migrants. Occupation was the variable that most explained the presentation of the cases, and among them housewives and \"not applicable\" were the most important (48 °%), and there were no differences in the form of diagnosis in all evaluated.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>It can be concluded that migration and the lack of social security contribute to the increase in the number of tuberculosis cases observed. To develop a guide in Quechua on the rational use of medicines and evaluate its relevance in the level of knowledge of Andean health science students through educational intervention.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A quantitative, longitudinal, prospective, applicative, quasi-experimental study with single-group pretest and posttest. The relevance of the guide in Quechua was analyzed with Student's t-test, Wilcoxon's t-test, Kruskall-Wallis and McNemar's test, while the magnitude of the effect by means of biserial correlation (r<sub>b</sub>), Cohen's d and epsilon squared (Ɛ<sup>2</sup>).</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>A total of 115 students participated in the study, mostly 96 (83.5%) females; after the educational intervention the level of knowledge rose from low to high level, the frequency of passing students increased, the intra-group analysis showed increase in the average grade of the students of the 03 schools, from 10.8±2.3 pre-test to 14.5±3.2 post-test, (p-value =0.001), with high effect magnitude (r<sub>b</sub>>0.5), mainly in the schools of Pharmacy and Obstetrics. Mainly in the schools of Pharmacy and Obstetrics. Data for population living in Bogotá and collected in the 2015-National Mental Health Survey was employed to calculate the prevalence of mental health problems, disorders, and the use of psychoactive substances. The analysis was stratified in adults, adolescents, and children.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Our main findings were a) The prevalence of self-reported mental health problems was 12 % (95 % CI: 9.1-15.6) and 7.9 % (95 % CI: 5.3-11, 8) for adults and adolescents, respectively. b) 9.8 % (95 % CI: 7.4-12.9) of included adults and 4.6 % (95 % CI: 2.7-7.7) of the adolescents reported more than 5 symptoms of anxiety. c) 6.7 % (95 % CI: 4.9-9.0) and 3.5 % (95 % CI: 2.0-6.1) of the adult and adolescent reported more than 7 symptoms of depression. d) 12.9 % (95 % CI: 10 % - 16.4 %) of the included adults, and 8.5 % (95 % CI: 5.5 % - 12.8 %) of adolescents reported the presence of \"any mental health disorder\" in the curse of life. e) 43.8 % (95 % CI: 39.1-48.7) reported consumption of alcohol. 5.6 % (95 % CI: 3.7-8.5) reported to have consumed marijuana during their life.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The prevalence of mental health problems and disorders is different as compared to other regions of the country and even to other capital cities in Latin America. [Educational initiative with adolescents in México and suicidal behavior].

Two questionnaires were applied 1) Questionnaire of Psychosocial Indicators for Depression and Suicidal Risk and 2) Questionnaire of HpV, in addition to focus groups (FG) and ethnographic registry. Twelve educational sessions focused on four HPVs were held.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>26 students participated. The prevalence of suicide ideation and attempt was 12.5% (95% CI 3.5-28.9). There was statistical significance in the ability \"Self-knowledge\" for men and women, in addition to the latter in \"Managing emotions\" and \"Global Scores\". {"title":"[Factors associated with intimate partner violence in medical students: A cross-sectional study].","authors":"Julio Cjuno, Janina Bazalar-Palacios, Edgar Bazán-Palomino, Marco Alvarado-Carbonel, Joel Figueroa-Quiñones, Roxana Aznarán-Torres","doi":"10.15446/rsap.V25n3.107435","DOIUrl":"10.15446/rsap.V25n3.107435","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To determine the demographic factors associated with intimate partner violence in medical students.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 588 human medicine students enrolled at a private university in Piura, Peru, during the 2021-2 academic year (July-December), with a median age of 20 years, the majority of whom (406) reported a relationship of less than two years (69.1%). The Women's Abuse Screening Tool (wast) was used to assess indicators of intimate partner violence. For numerical and categorical variables, descriptive analyzes were created. Likewise, simple and multiple linear regressions were developed for the crude and adjusted models, using Stata v. 15.0.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Intimate partner violence was present in two out of five students (40.1%; 95% CI 36.9-44.8%), and nine out of ten students had a lover or boyfriend (90.9%; 95% CI % 88.4- 93.1%).
