Good state governance is also essential for\u0000politicians to gain the trust of the citizens living in the country. The importance of state governance is critical because it depends on the wellfunctioning functions of government. Since the beginning of the restoration of independence, seventeen governments have completed their terms, and\u0000the eighteenth government is currently in power. The paper analyses the composition of the last ten governments in Lithuania (1999-2022) and the\u0000appointment of individuals to ministerial positions, categorising them as either politicians or specialists in their respective fields. Out of the ten\u0000governments analysed, it was discovered that eight consisted of politicians serving as ministers, while the other two had specialised ministers. The\u000017th government of Saulius Skvernelis had the highest number of specialist ministers. The majority of ministers in the 9th to 15th governments had\u0000backgrounds in law or economics. Political ministers are the dominant type in Lithuania and can be considered more stable and successful. These\u0000ministers are capable of withstanding political pressure, engaging with the public, and handling a variety of diplomatic situations. Specialist ministers,\u0000on the other hand, excel in their specific fields but are better suited for lower levels of government to support political ministers. These ministers tend\u0000to be less stable, experiencing more frequent changes during their tenure. Professional specialists face challenges in political work, as effectively\u0000identifying societal and workplace issues becomes more difficult due to factors such as communication, public interaction, reform drafting, and\u0000decision-making. The 15th government led by Andrius Kubilius was the most successful in terms of stability and duration in office.

The recent global pandemic brought this to the fore, particularly in the context of academia, where the blurring of boundaries were already apparent. This study explores whether and how information communication technology (ICT) blurred boundaries and impacted work-family conflict (WFC) and work-family enrichment (WFE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This examination is critical to optimise the value that ICTs may provide for the well-being of academics and their families. Drawing on semi-structured interviews, data was collected from 14 academics with children. Findings indicated that ICT triggered various stressors leading to WFC, while simultaneously improving participants’ availability leading to WFE. Managing boundaries was complex and depended on preferences and resources to enact these preferences. The findings highlight the paradoxical consequences of ICT, raising questions about increasing complexity in academic work and the need for more sustainable flexible work models.

The new agile orthodoxy has been promoted by popular books, in blogs and by Spotify and other firms: agile teams should be aligned to products or domains (not projects); cover development, maintenance and operations (to reduce handover problems); and have a long-term character (to build trust, identity and domain knowledge). We first describe and contextualise the new agile orthodoxy and then, based on an empirical study of two different “agile cases,” we describe and analyse how employees and middle managers perceived the rationale behind the change to long-term teams, how they understood teams as the basic unit of the structure, their perceptions of the resource and disciplinary dimensions of the organisation and the decline of projects and project managers.

Despite this potential connection, researchers have largely overlooked how nature may enhance employees’ creativity, an oversight that takes on additional meaningfulness in light of increasing investments by organizations in work designs that bring employees in contact with nature. In this paper, we draw from attention restoration theory (ART) to develop a model explaining how contact with nature at work may affect employee creativity—via broader cognitive processing. In addition, we follow the guidance of ART to deepen our understanding of for whom the creativity-generating effects of nature will be most impactful. Specifically, we describe how employees with high levels of openness to experience are particularly primed to experience expanded cognitive processing due to contact with nature at work. We test this model using a mixed-method research approach: two online experiments in the United States (Studies 1 and 2); two multiwave, multisource field studies in Taiwan and Indonesia (Studies 3 and 4), and an experience-sampling field study in Canada (Study 5).

Despite the growing recognition of the importance of investors and financial markets, our current understanding of the factors that drive investor valuation remains incomplete. To address this gap, we classify the existing literature on investor valuation into three perspectives: social, cognitive, and economic. The social perspective examines how social forces, such as institutional norms and pressure, shape investor valuation. The cognitive perspective focuses on the psychological underpinnings of investors’ valuation decisions, while the economic perspective emphasizes how investors determine the value of firms through rational cost-and-benefit calculations. This review compares the research on investor valuation in the management literature to that in the accounting and finance literature, identifying gaps in the management literature and discussing emerging trends that may influence investor valuation. The review also proposes an agenda for future research. In conclusion, this study illuminates the intricate and multifaceted nature of investor valuation, as well as the underlying factors that influence it.

In this study, we outline a review and agenda for severance pay owed if an executive is dismissed without cause from their role. Following changes to the disclosure of executive compensation in 2006, researchers have taken a renewed interest in studying executive severance pay. The current literature on this topic, however, has evolved along loosely connected research streams across multiple disciplines. This lack of integration presents a challenge for management scholars seeking to advance our knowledge of this important form of compensation. To address this issue, we provide an interdisciplinary review, incorporating recent studies that have taken advantage of the increased transparency of severance pay. Our review clarifies key differences between severance and other forms of executive pay and organizes prior studies along three main areas of research to draw conclusions about the current literature on this form of compensation. We also outline an agenda for future research, drawing upon several literatures that are key to management research—agency theory, managerial power theory, upper echelons theory, stakeholder theory, impression management theory, and the executive labor market. By integrating perspectives that, while less common in related fields, are central to management research, we provide unique insights for future research. Finally, we discuss key methodological issues, including data accuracy, measurement consistency, and analytical approaches, and how these can be addressed moving forward.

International research regarding how social enterprises scale is starting to emerge and is becoming an area of increased focus. Due to their hybridity, social enterprises experience unique scaling challenges, and research has started to examine these experiences. This theoretical paper reviews existing literature on social enterprise scaling and, based on this, proposes a conceptual model for understanding the interdependent factors and elements social enterprises must navigate when scaling. The proposed conceptual model will provide a base for further empirical research. When validated, it will also provide a practical tool for social enterprises exploring scaling possibilities and inform future enterprise and policy supports in this area.

The outcomes of the ELM, including executive selection, succession, and compensation, are important considerations as they influence executive decision making and other organizational outcomes. Yet, a comprehensive framework of ELM dynamics currently does not exist. To address this shortcoming, we reviewed the existing literature using five fundamental questions: (1) What executive jobs are available? (2) Who is available to fill executive jobs, and what is valued on the ELM? (3) Who signals interest in the executive jobs? (4) Who gets offered/accepts the executive job, and what is the agreed-upon compensation? (5) How do status and social capital influence ELM outcomes? By answering these questions, our review provides a framework for integrating existing research on the ELM while suggesting avenues for future research.

However, this milestone needs to be placed within a wider framework which encompasses the Irish social enterprise ecosystem and the European landscape of social enterprises. This paper explores different elements of the Irish social enterprise ecosystem, including its policy context, definition adopted and legal forms. Moreover, it explores the private recognition through certification and marks, the development of support and advocacy networks and organisations, academia and research, and funding/financing mechanisms. These elements are contrasted with the situation in other European countries to provide a contextualized picture of the Irish social enterprise sector. The paper concludes that Ireland’s social enterprise ecosystem presents some specificities, such as the CLG as a dominant legal form and the predominance of the WISE model, but generally aligns with wider social enterprises trends at European level.
