 In The View of Life, the last Simmel criticizes the Kantian approach to Ethics, because it considers the individual exclusively from his rational dimension, leaving aside his sensitivity; that is, \"temptation and seduction by the senses.\" At the same time, he warns about the dangers for modern life of the technical expansion of the sensitive world, such as when “a being who has the structure of a giant telescope” or legs, “half-kilometer stilts” is conceived.
 Beings conceived in these way are today the delivery workers. Riding around the city very fast their bikes or motorcycles, receiving orders from their cellular phones, they administrate their bodies and senses –especially the view- at the service of their self-entrepreneurship. The article examines for the case of Buenos Aires, this emerging phenomenon of contemporary capitalism, such as the constitution of precarious working relationships between distributors of the current platform companies of delivery","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135136004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Para ello se realiza una crítica genealógica de las principales instituciones económicas siguiendo las sugerencias de Polanyi. Así mismo, se muestran las orientaciones y límites de las diferentes clases de políticas del bienestar. Finalmente, se propone el concepto de vulnerabilidad, muy ligado a la «economía de los cuidados», para llegar a una realidad que los conceptos clásicos no contemplan ni atienden, pero que es cada vez más importante en el debate contemporáneo sobre las políticas públicas y sociales.","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43469441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They remove the Third as an emerging effect (therefore included) of social relationality which is generated not only by the contributions of the terms of the relations but by a plus which is the reciprocity effect of the relation itself. In this way, the ontologically constitutive relationality of the social in which the Third resides is obliterated. This outcome is both a reflection and a regenerator of most of the human crises that we experience today in social life. To get out of these crises, relational sociology proposes to go beyond the monistic and dualistic semantics of the Third by adopting a relational cultural matrix capable of connecting the human and the social, while maintaining their distinctions. The basic thesis is that a social form is human if and to the extent that the social relations that compose it are produced by subjects who mutually orient themselves on the basis of the superfunctional sense that exists in the Third generated by their relationship.","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49455766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A theme that has been deepened by the French tradition of urban studies. Which has studied the role of emotional exchanges between the user public in the construction of the social order of the New and York and Paris subways. However, when observing transport systems of this type in Latin America, there are other populations that, by using the subway for commercial purposes, influence the construction of the socio-affective order in the subway. These cases allow us to relate other Simmelian reflections on socio-affective relations, such as the notion of the poor and the extranger. Based on this, the article proposes to move towards a general and inclusive reflection on the importance of socio-affective relations in the construction of social order in the subway.","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135136003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve the above, I have divided the article into three sections. In the first, I give a summary of state-of-the-art critical studies on menstruation, which allow us to think of menstruation as an object of study in sociology and to underpin this proposal. Second, using Simmel’s relational sociology and sensory studies approach, I show that one of the mechanisms of perception policies towards menstruation has been to keep it secret. Third, I present a sociology of senses related to the secret of menstruation based on the findings of a recent study. The findings show that, although there are tendencies to re-signify the experience of menstruation in solidarity with friends, perception policies prevail that lead women to hide menstruation from intimates and strangers. On the other hand, although the odours of menstruation have been and continue to be stigmatized, the use of new artifacts or menstrual hygiene techniques allows a certain resignification of the menstrual smell, although this requires certain material conditions of possibility. ","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42073864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Georg Simmel is undoubtedly one of the most crucial theorists and a pillar in the social sciences, and his theoretical contribution also stands as the foundation of relational sociology stricto sensu. He taught that interactions supporting social processes must be investigated as forms of relations. A relation is a precise mode of being connected to others; it is a tie emerging from reciprocal action and acquires its consistency by generating causal effects on involved actors. Among his main insights within the sociological tradition, Simmel’s excellent concepts and arguments engage emotions as a sociological matter, that is, under a relational aspect. Not only do emotions have sociological relevance (that is, they are a worthy subject for sociologists), but they also characterize the precise manner of interaction among individuals. Emotions are the relational effect of being associated in an increasingly differentiated society, which apparently only neutralizes individuals’ emotive sides, or else instrumentally drives or “colonizes” them. Simmel explored gratitude as a particular emotion that is a form of relation and interaction: it has an eccentric position among the other emotions that he investigated in his many essays. Gratitude represents a non-symmetrical or economic (exchangeable) “transactive” emotion: it puts the giver and receiver in a peculiar socio-emotional form of reciprocity. By considering relations, emotions, and gratitude through rigorous textual exploration, this paper tackles Simmel’s view and challenges a globalized world and hybridized digital society. Finally, gratitude could be regarded as a demarcation criterion for identifying and distinguishing social interaction forms from other kinds of non-social processes or transactions.","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45545064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

La metodología, desde el enfoque sociológico estructuralista de la comunicación y las nuevas teorías de comunicación de masas, mezcla técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas. La hipótesis inicial es que dichos medios construyen sus procesos informativos en torno a la extracción de beneficios y dentro del esquema del orden sistémico hegemónico. Los resultados tienden a confirmarla, revelando un encuadre de las noticias con alto contenido espectacularizante y la aplicación de una narrativa diferenciadora que excluye diversos temas y actores sociales.","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47403511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Imagined, projected, and expected emergencies and crises have affected political and scientific agendas and redefined the pre-planning for risks at a local, national, and global level. Whilst most of these emergencies took place largely on an imaginary stage and never materialised – at least not with significant effects on global society – the COVID-19 pandemic finally made real the imaginary that had been expected and projected for over a decade. This article claims that within the context of an emergency in the making and the consequent social, economic, political, and material crises, sociology and social analysis need to assume new responsibilities by providing answers and perspective to those social developments that are direct and indirect results of the social and material conditions of a society of emergency. In a world in which the reality of emergencies has started to outrun the prevention of risks, a sociology of emergency is not only a useful but a necessary step in the development of social theory. We suggest that a redefinition of some of those concepts and ideas that marked the sociological agenda of risk society becomes unavoidable. We argue also that reconnection with those issues that had been discarded from the conceptual framework of a society of risk has become absolutely necessary.","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43446420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The contours assumed by the former are marked by the dynamics and features that characterize the latter. This essay addresses the waiting to which we are usually subjected when carrying out procedures in any of the instances and dependencies of the bureaucratic apparatus. Returning to the analytical contributions of Georg Simmel, a relational approach to this phenomenon is attempted, highlighting three of its basic dimensions: time, space, and interaction or reciprocal action. The essay finishes with some considerations regarding what waiting represents for modernity and, more generally, for human existence. ","PeriodicalId":51964,"journal":{"name":"Digithum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48023368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
