Specifically, the study interrogated how government’s attitude to healthcare delivery undermined covid-19 protocols and policing in Nigeria; and how multidimensional poverty in the country undermined Nigeria’s lockdown protocols and policing in the fight against the virus. By adopting documentary method of data collection, expost facto research design and securitisation theory, the study found that government’s historical attitude towards healthcare delivery for its citizens led to the failure of its covid-19 protocols and policing, as result of the poor compliance of citizens. The study further found that multidimensional poverty among Nigerians led to the undermining of governments lockdown measures and guidelines during the pandemic. This were borne out of the citizens’ distrust of their government who have hoarded palliatives meant to cushion the effect of the pandemic. The study concluded and recommended amongst others, that the government must invest in quality healthcare by increasing its spending and budget allocations to the healthcare sector. It must also ensure that it desist from playing politics with palliatives meant to help cushion the effect of the pandemic on its citizens.

By utilizing qualitative method with in-depth interviews with female candidates from the 2021 elections, the study delves into the intricate relationship between cultural, structural, and psychological exclusion, alongside educational, supportive, and strategic empowerment, in the unique political atmosphere of Somaliland. The results indicate that deeply ingrained cultural norms, entrenched political barriers, and significant financial constraints severely limit women’s political engagement. These barriers are compounded by psychological factors that diminish women’s political aspirations and efficacy. On the other hand, empowerment through higher education, robust supportive networks, and effective strategic planning emerges as key to overcoming these obstacles. The study employs theoretical frameworks such as Strain Theory, Social Identity Theory, and Resource Mobilization Theory to provide a deeper understanding of these dynamics. The implications of this research are far-reaching, suggesting that comprehensive interventions encompassing policy reforms, educational programs, and community dialogues are essential for enhancing women’s political participation. This study not only enriches the academic discourse on gender and politics in understudied contexts but also provides practical recommendations for stakeholders aiming to foster a more inclusive political landscape in Somaliland and similar settings.

While historically significant figures like Amunet and Captain James Cook contributed to tattoo lore, modern celebrities like David Beckham and Kat Von D have propelled tattoos into popular culture. However, alongside their rise in popularity, tattoos also bring health risks. \u0000Research indicates that up to 67% of individuals with tattoos experience complications, with infections, allergic reactions, and scarring being common concerns. Moreover, tattoos can exacerbate existing medical conditions, particularly in individuals with diabetes, heart conditions, or immunosuppressive disorders. Individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding face additional risks due to physiological changes affecting wound healing and immune response. \u0000The chemical composition of tattoo ink, especially in complex styles like tridimensional matryoshka tattoos, poses further health concerns, including heavy metal toxicity and infection risks. \u0000Adequate safety measures, including choosing reputable artists, proper aftercare, and thorough pre-tattoo screening, can mitigate these risks. Prompt medical intervention is crucial in severe complications, emphasizing the importance of awareness and precaution in tattooing. \u0000Additionally, tattoo removal methods come with their own set of risks and considerations, with laser therapy being the primary choice but not assuring complete removal.

In Sierra Leone graft has dawned as the significant risk to impoverished folk’s subsistence as it influences social domains of people. This sociological inquiry accommodates a refined discourse of how graft is fundamentally a snag of primacy. It utilizes commonplace social case constructions of existence in Sierra Leone to emphasize the commonness of primacy in the social discourse of graft. The sociological inquiry accommodates a social substructure for the evolution of the sociology of graft in Sierra Leone by debriefing how graft and primacy are presently devised as personal exploits without comprehending the expansive nexus of primacy and consequently it affects admittance and snub. The sociological inquiry argues that dislodging graft political leaders or bureaucrats is not adequate to liquidate destitution nonetheless what is essential is a rudimentary transformation of the connections of primacy deployed on asymmetrical or unfair social structures.

Iron deficiency anemia is a pervasive issue, particularly impacting pregnant women and adolescent girls, considered by the World Health Organization with hemoglobin levels below 11 g/dl. On a global scale, as of 2019, 37% of pregnant women and 30% of women aged 15 to 49 experience anemia. NFHS-5 data reveals that the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women in urban areas of India stands at 45.7%. This study explores the multifaceted factors influencing the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women residing in the urban slums of Kolkata, India. \u0000The study adopted a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to comprehensively assess the determinants of anemia among pregnant women in the Urban slums of Kolkata. Quantitative data collection involves structured surveys administered to pregnant women, focusing on socio-demographic characteristics, dietary habits, access to healthcare services, and knowledge of anemia prevention and management. Qualitative interviews delve deeper into the experiences and perceptions of pregnant women regarding anemia, exploring cultural beliefs, social norms, and barriers to accessing healthcare services. Additionally, healthcare providers and community health workers contribute insights into the challenges faced in addressing anemia in urban slum settings. \u0000Preliminary findings suggest that several interconnected factors contribute to the high prevalence of anemia among pregnant women in urban slum areas of Kolkata. These include inadequate antenatal care, limited availability of iron-rich foods, poor sanitation and hygiene practices, cultural beliefs surrounding pregnancy and nutrition, and socio-economic constraints. \u0000The study underscores the importance of multi-sectoral interventions aimed at addressing the complex determinants of anemia among pregnant women in urban slums. Effective strategies may involve improving access to antenatal care services, promoting nutrition education and supplementation, enhancing sanitation infrastructure, and fostering community engagement to challenge harmful cultural norms. \u0000By elucidating the nuanced factors influencing anemia in this vulnerable population, this research seeks to inform targeted interventions and policies aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes in urban slum areas of Kolkata and similar settings worldwide.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church proclaims, the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. There are considerable factors needed to promote a meaningful Celebration, and one is the active participation of the members. What do we mean by active participation? It is the utmost attention and focuses only on the celebration. However, this idea is difficult to grasp due to the overwhelming disaster that hits the world talking about the Pandemic. Many of whom have tremendously been affected by the phenomenon. Unfortunately, some have lost their faith and started doing things opposite to what they did before. This research aims to pinpoint and understand the prominent reasons that have affected individuals’ participation in the Holy Eucharist. The research focuses on the basic education students at St. Paul University Surigao, and their holistic formation is involved in the Holy Eucharist. Results have shown that most students still exhibit the same passion for attending Holy Mass and are unaffected by some corresponding influences. Nevertheless, these factors are recognized so that the conflict will be resolved. Despite all, results still have shown that students are willing to attend the celebration and are open to a meaningful Holy Eucharist celebration.
