However, the implementation of OGD initiatives faces several challenges, including infrastructure limitations, data quality and availability issues, data privacy and security concerns, and the lack of clear legal and policy frameworks. Addressing these challenges requires significant investments in technological infrastructure, data management practices, capacity building, and policy reform. Despite the challenges, OGD initiatives present numerous opportunities for driving positive change and fostering socio-economic development in East Africa. By promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, OGD initiatives lay the foundation for a more inclusive, responsive, and prosperous society. After a period of nearly two decades where democratic governance seemed to prevail, the resurgence of military interventions is disconcerting for citizens across the region. This trend is particularly troubling as it has the potential to spread from one country to another. Recent events in West Africa have seen a concerning number of military coups, including those in Chad, Mali, Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Burkina-Faso, and Niger. Reports from Burkina-Faso indicate that the military has managed to prevent a counter-coup, highlighting the complexity and rapid succession of these events. The escalation and frequency of coups in West Africa are cause for concern, prompting a deeper examination of this resurgence. This study, titled \"Resurgence of Coups in Africa: An Evaluation of West Africa,\" aims to address this phenomenon through two research questions and corresponding objectives. Drawing on elite and system theories, the study utilizes a quantitative design and employs content analysis for data interpretation. Findings suggest that the resurgence of military coups in West Africa can be attributed, at least in part, to a lack of democratic values and norms. To address this issue, the study recommends the institutionalization of democratic principles and the delivery of tangible benefits of democracy to the populace. By fostering a political environment grounded in democratic governance and ensuring that citizens experience the dividends of democracy, the study suggests that the likelihood of military interventions in West African politics can be mitigated. How has government interference contributed to political apathy during the 2023 general elections in Enugu State? The study was anchored on the class analysis theory. Using ex-post facto design the study adopted thematic content analysis to examine political apathy and 2023 general elections in Enugu. The study therefore, concluded that there are various factors responsible for political apathy in the 2023 general election in Enugu state and government interference contributed to political apathy during the 2023 general elections in Enugu State. The researcher recommended that state governments should ensure to leave up to the promises of good governance made to the people. All factors that lead to political apathy must be checkmated. Enforceable legislations against election rigging, violence, thuggery, godfatherism and the like should be put into practice. Good governance will ensure, justice, fairness, equity and inclusion for all. All federal government agencies charged with voter education like National Orientation Agency (NOA), INEC, and Ministry of Information should sustain political education at all levels of the society. Political apathy is not the solution to electoral problems rather it endangers the electoral system more. Popular participation in elections will help reduce the influence of godfathers during elections thus creating room for the emergence of credible leaders through a credible election process. Drawing on the Agenda Setting Theory and the capabilities of interactive communication, the study examines how mass media can effectively bring issues to the forefront of public attention, fostering engagement and understanding among diverse audiences. The inclusive nature of various mass media outlets, coupled with technological advancements enabling interactive features, presents a promising avenue for overcoming barriers in educating both literate and non-literate individuals. However, challenges such as perception biases, rural disparities, and practical hindrances must be addressed to fully unlock the potential of mass media in voters' education. The target population was all students from grades one to three where the competence-based curriculum had been implemented. The researcher used a convenient sampling technique to select all the one hundred (100) Form 2 history students to participate in the intervention. The technique was preferred because in Uganda, history is a compulsory subject from one to four, implying that all students in Form 2 were potential participants in the study. The researcher did this to avoid the influence of external factors that could be a threat to the validity of the study. The majority of the groups worked within the principles of cooperative learning to include positive interdependence, face-to-face promotional interaction, individual and group accountability, and displayed relevant social skills such as effective communication, leadership, and meaningful decision-making. However, a number of groups were not well informed about managing conflicts in groups. Brainstorming sessions can be a useful strategy to encourage genuine collaboration and interaction in the classroom. Putting together a well-stated problem and careful planning strategies can lead to meaningful idea generation and idea building, which can be used in solving problems or addressing specific courserelated issues. Journalists, like professionals in other fields, adhere to a code of ethics that outlines moral principles, guidelines, and rules governing their conduct and interactions with the public. Ethical challenges are pervasive in journalism, both globally and in Nigeria, requiring journalists to navigate complex decisions regarding their behavior and their interactions with various stakeholders. This study examines ethical issues in journalism practice and the challenges faced by journalists. It suggests that addressing the challenges stemming from media ownership requires greater press freedom. Social networking platforms offer daily avenues for connecting with peers, classmates, and like-minded individuals. Extensive research has started to uncover the impact of social media experiences on adolescents' mental well-being. While acknowledging their developmental benefits, it's imperative to recognize the potential risks associated with excessive social media engagement, particularly concerning the emotional health of young individuals. This research delves into the potential and challenges posed by social media platforms on the mental health of youths. However, as the digital landscape continues to evolve rapidly, further investigation is essential. Present studies often rely on self-reported data on adolescent media usage, limited to singular time points, thereby hindering definitive conclusions on whether media use directly influences mental health outcomes or vice versa. Future research should adopt more comprehensive approaches, such as direct observation of adolescents' social media activities, and move beyond traditional notions of mere \"screen time.\" It's crucial to explore specific social media experiences and individual traits that render certain adolescents more susceptible to the positive or negative effects of social media. Focusing on indigenous perspectives, the study emphasizes the decolonization of gender as a prerequisite for achieving true gender equality. Through a re-evaluation of matriarchy in traditional Africa, the roles of both genders are illuminated, drawing attention to enduring values that warrant deliberate integration into contemporary society. The mistreatment of widows, reminiscent of traditional practices, persists in present-day Africa, highlighting the urgent need for collaborative efforts to liberate women from societal oppression. The integration of matriarchal principles with contemporary democratic values is proposed as a solution to cultivate a society that upholds equality for both men and women.
