In the case of black soldier fly larvae, <i>Hermetia illucens</i>, research has focused on their ability to convert organic waste into usable nutrients and their potential as a protein source for animal and human consumption. In this study, black soldier fly larvae were reared on raw food waste (FW) mixed with garlic peel waste (G) and hydronic growth media waste (H) and the proximate composition and bioactive potential of black soldier fly larvae extract (SFL) were compared. Analysis showed that protein content of SFL fed with G was 4.21% higher and lipid content was 9.93% lower than FW. Similar results were obtained for SFL fed with H. Antioxidant activity of SFL-G was higher than that of SFL-FW and SFL-H. SFL-G treatment exhibited enhanced anti-inflammatory and anti-adipogenesis activities as well compared to SFL-FW. Current results suggested that feeding black soldier fly larvae with food waste added with garlic peel and hydroponic growth media waste resulted in increased nutritional value, polyphenol content and bioactivity for SFLs. In this context, garlic peel waste-added food waste was suggested a promising substrate for black soldier fly larvae to obtain high-quality protein source with enhanced antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-adipogenic potential.</p>","PeriodicalId":51188,"journal":{"name":"Texto Contexto Enfermagem","volume":"23 1","pages":"1034-1048"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11466730/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89779459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The operational model content was built by a documentary study of theses and dissertations available in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, and theoretical/epistemological content derived from the philosophical framework of Adolfo Sanchez Vázquez. The content and appearance were validated using the Instrument for Evaluating Methodological Models for Technology Development. Content analysis and the Content Validity Index with binomial test were used to analyze the data, while Cronbach's alpha was used for reliability. Results: the model was structured into four phases (pragmatic, creative/artistic, experimental and revolutionary). Validation was carried out by 26 nurse judges, selected according to the established criteria. The model was assessed as relevant by the judges, obtaining a mean index of 0.950 for the content domain and 0.825 for the appearance domain, with an overall Cronbach's alpha of 0.941. Changes were suggested to the model's figures/diagrams regarding color, the model's sequential numbering and the representation of collective participation. Method: this is a methodological study for the construction of a simulated scenario and checklist, validated by experts, with the application of a pilot test on 36 nursing students between April and September 2021, at a public university in Minas Gerais. The construction stage took place by surveying evidence in the literature. The validity stage was based on instrument assessment by 13 experts, from all over Brazil, being interpreted by calculating the Content Validity Coefficient by a cut-off point equal to 0.8 or 80.0%. To assess internal consistency, Cronbach’s alpha was calculated. Subsequently, a pilot test and the Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale were applied. Results: after building the simulated scenario, three rounds were performed to assess the script (21 items) and two for the checklist (six items), reaching an overall Content Validity Coefficient of 0.98 and 0.95, respectively. A Cronbach’s alpha of 0.79 was obtained at the end of assessment. In the pilot test, the scenario was considered adequate, with high scores of satisfaction and self-confidence in learning, confirming its usability. Conclusion: the instrument developed by nurses to assess shockable arrhythmias in adult patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit is valid in terms of content and has good internal consistency.","PeriodicalId":51188,"journal":{"name":"Texto Contexto Enfermagem","volume":"50 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80859146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: This is a cross-sectional, analytical study conducted with 116 women assisted in the period between March 2015 and March 2020 at the climacteric outpatient clinic of a university hospital in Cuiabá, MT, Brazil. Data were collected through telephone interviews from October 2020 to January 2021, using a questionnaire containing questions about sociodemographic, health and psychosocial data. Self-rated health was checked by asking the subjects how they rated their health. The association measure used was the prevalence ratio and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Poisson’s multiple regression was used in the multivariate analysis. Results: Most middle-aged women in this study (54.3%) had negative self-rated health. The factor associated with the outcome was menopausal symptoms (p< 0.001), identified in the severe menopausal symptoms category PR= 2.95 (95%CI 1.4-6.3). Conclusion: The higher prevalence of negative self-rated health among the women in this study is probably related to the life stage they are experiencing. Menopausal symptoms are associated with women’s perception of health due to their discomfort and consequent impact on their lives.","PeriodicalId":51188,"journal":{"name":"Texto Contexto Enfermagem","volume":"94 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91382151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
