Research is conducted in order to create concretes that are in line with the doctrine of sustainable development. Their main assumption is the reuse of recycled materials in newly produced building materials without compromising their properties. In addition, attempts are made to eliminate Portland cement, replacing it partially or completely with fly ashes or metakaolin. Another modification of concrete consists of replacing natural aggregate with artificial aggregate. The research conducted on lightweight concretes based on fly ashes, and alkali-activated porous ash aggregate is also presented.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"64 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139163779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purchase of green products is one of the ways to promote environmental sustainability globally. The study examines the determinants of green purchase behaviour of university students in South Africa. The study merges the Value-Attitude-Behaviour (VAB) theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to develop a new theoretical model to predict GPB. The study uses a quantitative research design, and data is collected from students at two South African universities. The study adopts the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling for data analysis. The findings support the applicability of the merged theories in predicting GPB. Recommendations to improve the GPB of students include the introduction of environmental education as a subject in universities.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"35 S1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139164586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the article is to identify and analyze the economic effects of the introducing such a system, with particular emphasis on plastic beverage bottles. Analysis of the newly introduced regulations, as well as projections based on data on packaging placed on the market and its recycling allowed us to estimate the scale of these effects, in quantitative and monetary terms. We concluded that the introduction of a deposit system in Poland would contribute to achieving the objectives set out in the Single Use Plastic directive; a goal that is unlikely to be met with the current system. This will be done at a lower cost than if the system remained in its current form.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139164714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article presents the research results into the water supply network (WDN). The aim of the research was to improve the quality of water and reduce the cost of its treatment by reducing the age of the water. For this purpose, a model was built that takes into account the time in which water stays in a given section from the moment it flows out of the intake and mixes with the water already present in the network. The research was preceded by the construction of a model based on GIS geodetic data and a digital terrain model. On the basis of the simulations and analyses carried out, a solution was proposed to reduce the average age of water in the investigated WDN.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"23 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139165382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific objective is to indicate the forms in which scientists can transfer knowledge and technology to enterprises in the field of sustainable solutions. In order to identify the features of the hidden dimensions of the university-enterprise relationship, the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used. The factor analysis showed that there are 3 channels through which scientists from technical universities establish relations with enterprises: the consulting and educational channel, the scientific and information channel, and the research and commercialization channel. In each of these channels, forms of knowledge and technology transfer have been identified that may relate to environmental topics for enterprises.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"58 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139165425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Synthetic indicators were constructed and calculated using Principal Component Analysis based on Eurostat data from 2012-2020. The results allowed us to compare the economic situation of organic farming in different countries and to determine their rankings. The discussion is complemented by an analysis of key variables relating to crop and animal production. This helped to explain the reasons for changes in the ranking of individual countries and to characterise the evolution of individual types of production. In organic crop and animal production, the clear leaders were the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark (only in animal production), i.e., countries with well-developed, modern organic farming systems. Poland is characterised by relatively low crop production efficiency and one of the lowest animal production potentials. The results of the research can be used to improve the operation of agricultural policy in order to increase the efficiency of organic production.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"72 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139164291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ranking of 27 EU countries in terms of the complex phenomenon under study was constructed on the basis of 7 variables. The research period was 2011 and 2020. The research method was one of multidimensional comparative analysis methods, i.e. Hellwig’s pattern development model. The research results confirm that there wasa positive change in the use of renewable energy in all EU countries in 2020 compared to 2011, with Sweden, Austria, Finland, and Denmark taking the lead. However, most EU countries (16 in 2011 and 17 in 2020) have a medium-low level of use of “green energy”. A low level was identified in Cyprus and Malta in 2011 and Poland in 2020.","PeriodicalId":509109,"journal":{"name":"Economics and Environment","volume":"53 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139165362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
