In order to reduce the defect theoretically due to the related hypothesis, more rigorous constraints of interslice force are completely considered in light of static equilibrium conditions and energy dissipation principle of the interface between two adjacent slices. Without hypothesis of interslice force, the slope stability analysis is transformed consistently into a non-linear programming problem to be solved. So, a generally improved solution of slice method of limit equilibrium to slope stability is put forward. In particular, influence of the dilation angle of soil on slope stability can be involved in the method. The proposed method can be utilized for any slopes with arbitrary slip surfaces.","PeriodicalId":50897,"journal":{"name":"Acta Geotechnica Slovenica","volume":"56 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67766707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The test results indicate that in the temperature range from 20 °C to 50 °C the water content can significantly reduce the mechanical parameters, including the strength and elastic modulus of the mudstone samples. In contrast, the Poisson ratio of the mudstone samples increases with the increase in the water content. In addition, there is little difference between the effects of an immersion time of 7 days and 14 days on the mudstone samples, indicating that the confining pressure plays a protective role on the mudstone samples.","PeriodicalId":50897,"journal":{"name":"Acta Geotechnica Slovenica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67767158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the analytical methods used to observe the individual parameters in the context of monitoring the safety pillars and the deformation of the discontinuities in the underground excavation in the Lipica II natural stone mine. To monitor movements and deformations, the EL-beam gauges are installed on the surface of the safety pillars. The observations used in this case study are represented by two vertical EL-beam displacement measurements, acting as one year-long time series. Using ARMA modelling, we analysed the differences between the measured and predicted values of El-beam displacements. The obtained predictions of the displacements, their negligible effect on the measurements themselves, and the absence of any trends in the calculated differences, proves the feasibility of the applied prediction model. A longer observation period would allow predictions of possible seasonal characteristics of the time series, while the development of the automatic responding monitoring system, triggered by the warning events, will improve the reporting system for the sudden changes in the smoothness of the predicted values. The numerical simulations are verified by the field test. The results show that the first excavating area, which is farther from the existing buried pipeline, causes smaller displacements of the pipeline. When the slope angle of the existing bored piles increases from 0° to 15°, the maximum horizontal and vertical displacements decrease by 4.92 mm and 2.49 mm, respectively. Based on the results of these tests, a constitutive model for structured soils with initial stress-induced anisotropy was formulated. In the proposed model, the initially anisotropic structured soils are regarded as heterogeneous materials composed of bonded blocks and weaker bands. The bonded blocks (denoted as bonded elements) are described as transversely isotropic elastic– brittle materials, while the weaker bands (denoted as frictional elements) are described by the Lade–Duncan model of elastic–plastic materials. Based on the homogenization theorem for heterogeneous materials, and the introduction of structural parameters such as the breakage ratio and the local strain coefficient, the non-uniform distribution of stress and strain within a representative volume element was obtained. Finally, the parameters of the model were determined based on experimental results. The model was verified with test results, demonstrating that it can effectively capture many important features of artificially structured soils with an initial stress-induced anisotropy.","PeriodicalId":50897,"journal":{"name":"Acta Geotechnica Slovenica","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67766469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
