Fakultesi, Kuzey Kampüsü Çevre, Yolu Bulvarı","doi":"10.46544/ams.v28i1.17","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46544/ams.v28i1.17","url":null,"abstract":"This study investigated the selective precipitation of copper (Cu2+), nickel (Ni2+) and zinc (Zn2+) ions from industrial wastewater by using sodium sulfide (Na2S). The effects of pH, time and free sulfide concentration on the selective precipitation were systematically investigated using synthetically prepared solutions and gold refinery wastewater. First, the optimum precipitation pH values of metals, the amount of Na2S and time were determined by using synthetic solutions containing Cu, Ni and Zn single metal ions. The highest precipitation efficiencies were obtained at a pH of 4, 5.3 and 5.3 for Cu, Ni and Zn, respectively. Based on these results, the effects of Na2S stoichiometry and time of precipitation were investigated with synthetically prepared solutions containing mixed metal ions (100 mg/L Cu2+, 90 mg/L Ni2+ and 100 mg/L Zn2+). Metal sulfide precipitation efficiencies increased with increasing amounts of Na2S and reached a maximum at a ratio of 1:1.75 (Metal ion: Na2S molar ratio). Lastly, the results obtained from the experiments performed with synthetic solutions were used for the metal sulfide precipitation from industrial wastewater. The precipitation from refining wastewater containing 10 g/L Cu2+, 0.3 g/L Ni2+ and 3 g/L Zn2+ ions was achieved at pH values from 2.3 to 5.3. At a pH of 2.3, Cu2+ precipitated as CuS (Cu2S) at 100% efficiency. While the Ni2+ concentration in the solution decreased by only 44% at a pH of 2.3, the Zn2+ concentration decreased by 52%. The implementation of automation and digitization in mines has been ongoing for several years. Machinery and equipment development and improvement is also ongoing. The authors discuss the development and improvement of powered roof support, which is a critical part of the longwall system. The powered roof support is responsible for the safety of equipment and people working in the longwall. It supports the face and immediate roof and moves the longwall system forward as the shearer removes the coal and the roof collapsing (goafing) behind the shields. The aim of this study was to examine the human factors involved in the development and improvement of the hydraulic support system of powered roof support. The research was carried out among employees in hard coal mines using mainly surveys. The research allowed the authors to examine and analyze the information provided by the miners concerning powered roof support in the era of Industry 4.0 (the Fourth Industrial Revolution). According to the research findings, miners expect improvement in the reliability of the powered roof support, and they want the key operating parameters, especially the required load capacity, to be monitored in real-time so adjustments and improvements can be made. The results of the research point out the needs and expectations of miners. The work below presents a short-term prediction of the overall work accident number in a selected industrial facility, developed on the basis of statistical accident rate data and using 25 selected econometric models. In the summary assessment of a specific prediction, the scoring method was applied, taking the following weights into consideration: C1 and C2 criteria (C) – 10 % each, C3 and C4 criteria – 20% each, and C5 criterion – 40 %, where: C1 was the value of ex post prediction error for the series including the empirical data covering the period between 2007 and 2016; C2 was the value of ex post prediction error for the series including the empirical data covering the period between 2007 and 2018; C3 was the value of coefficient of random variation Ve for the ex post predictions from the period between 2007 and 2016 (for all predictions except the linear and linearized models, the RMSE* value was applied to estimate their value); C4 was the value of coefficient of random variation Ve for the ex post predictions from the period between 2007 and 2018 (for all predictions except the linear and linearized models, the RMSE* value was applied to estimate their value); C5 was the value of ex post prediction error for the series including the empirical data covering the period between 2017 and 2018. There exist offices, common areas, repair and maintenance shops, compressed air facilities, hydraulic facilities, areas where mine machinery and parts are stacked, transportation cranes and mine stock areas in surface plants. Therefore, while the mining operations are continuing, it is necessary to control all the work in the surface plants in terms of work safety and health. In this study, the risk matrix method is used to identify and prioritize the risks of surface plants in a mine. Then, the highest priority risk, which is found to be \"Stock area and work environment\", is considered using bowtie analysis. Four threats are determined for \"Stock area and work environment\" risk. These are improper ore or coal stock area, insufficient lighting in night works, lack of maintenance of field crane and dusty work environment. These threats are also modelled using bowtie analysis. Nowadays, the information and communications technologies bring to the forefront novel methods and approaches that have been gradually becoming significance. The explored area covers all the 27 European Union member countries dated to the year 2020. The data set comprises the time period from the year 2008 to the year 2020. Employment in the mining industry from a view of the information and communications technologies is understood in the two ways – as a manufacturing side and as a side of the services offered here. Moreover, the altogether perspective is illustrated too. The nature of the data is investigated through the Jarque-Bera test, while the main analytical technique is the correspondence analysis. The analysis of the risk dependency on vulnerabilities and threats to ACSMIC assets is carried out, and the relationship between risk, vulnerability, and threat is presented according to a three-level risk assessment scale. When identifying and assessing the risk, existing countermeasures against both external and internal attacks are taken into account, which, in turn, reduces the risk level for the protected organization. In the process of any organization functioning, there may be a need to reassess the risk associated with changes in the structure of the control organization or security policy in the system of the metallurgical industry companies. Therefore, the existing countermeasures are closely related to the concept of risk and require constant correction in the assessment process. Risk is related to the reliability of the functioning of the studied control structure of units and aggregates and their ability to function in accordance with the mode and goals of the production structure in various branches and levels of the hierarchy with an acceptable risk assessment. It dates back to ancient times and still has high importance today. Technological advancements in distributed ledger technology eliminate the downsides of physical gold we were exposed to in the past. In this article, we analyze the relationship between the gold price and inflation and ask whether gold is suitable as an alternative means of payment. Regarding the mentioned tokenization possibility, gold fulfils all the functions to become a means of payment. We tested the value storage capability of gold. This was tested by relating gold as a protection against inflation to HICP in regression analyses and mean comparisons. A total of six hypotheses were tested, of which three could be rejected. The existing literature mainly focuses on testing the correlation between gold and other assets to verify its safe haven property. A part of this paper tests the regression relationship in which the dependent variable is represented by gold, and the independent variable is represented by inflation. Activity concentrations for 232Th, 238U, and 40K were obtained using an HPGe gamma-ray spectrometry system. Activities for 232Th ranged from 2 to 39 Bq kg−1 as measured in the laboratory and from 5 to 38 Bq kg−1 measured under in situ field conditions. For 238U, the activity concentrations ranged from 4 to 37 Bq kg−1 in the laboratory and from 7 to 42 Bq kg−1 under in situ field conditions. For 40K, activity concentrations ranged from 12 to 820 Bq kg−1 in the laboratory and from 60 to 826 Bq kg−1 under in situ field conditions. Measured activity concentrations were compared with average activity concentrations of radionuclides in similar types of rocks from different global localities. There are many measures and tools developed for assessing economic diversification, including import diversification though the majority of studies are addressing export diversification and analyzing the importance of economic diversification for economic growth and macro-economic stability in the primary sector. However, risks of supply disruptions, especially in the current globalized world, can cause many problems for specific industries, regions and countries. There is a literature gap on the analysis of import diversification methods and measures in terms of their suitability for economic analysis and decision-making in all economic sectors, including mining. The paper aims to overcome this gap by analyzing import diversification measures based on a systematic literature review and assessing them according to the main criteria of suitability for economic analysis and decision-making: simplicity, data availability, comparability and transparency. Although its reserves are, contrary to oil, sufficient, we expect the gas extraction to peak and gradually dwindle to nothing soon. The figures on natural gas prices gave us a breeding ground for research based on correlation analysis and time series regression using multilayer perceptron networks. The outcomes proved no measurable effect of government decisions on the global gas trends. The study foresaw that natural gas value will be highly variable through 2023 since gas rates go through regular cycles lasting several years. First, the course sends the price soaring and then lets it fall to its original value. Other contributory factors involve adopted legislation, prices of related commodities, weather changes, the Czech Crown exchange rate and the situation abroad.
