This shows an illustration of the importance of health promotion so that people are more aware of the importance of maintaining dental and oral health. One strategy to achieve optimal health promotion is to use health promotion methods through social media. Instagram social media as a health promotion media has the advantage of being easy to access without being constrained by distance, time, and cost. Purpose: Analyzing the effectiveness of health promotion using Instagram social media to increase oral health literacy in adolescents at  SMP Negeri 1 Banjarbaru. Methods: This studies uses a true experimental design method with a pretest-postest design with control design, the sampling technique is simple random sampling technique. The studies carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Banjarbaru with 92 respondents. Results: There is a difference in the oral health literacy pretest and posttest scores in interverence group, while in the control group there is no significant difference. The significance result of Mann Whitney test in the posttest session for the intervention and the control groups are 0.000 > 0.05 which means that there is a significant difference in oral health literacy scores between the posttest scores of the intervention group and the control group. People often use mouthwash to maintain dental and oral hygiene, both those containing alcohol and non-alcohol. According to several studies, the alcohol in mouthwash will cause a decrease in the physical properties of the composite resin, such as surface roughness, compressive strength, hardness, and also the aesthetic value of the composite resin. Objective: To determine the difference of bioactive composite resin color on immersion in alcohol and non alcohol mouthwash. Methods: Experimental laboratory with a pre-test and post-test with control group design using 27 samples of composite resin with a diameter of 15 mm and 1 mm. The samples were divided into 3 groups, namely the immersion group in alcoholic mouthwash, non-alcohol, and aquades. Each group consisted of 9 samples to be measured the value of color change before and after immersion for 12 hours. Results: The results of the One Way ANOVA statistical test showed that there was an effect of soaking mouthwash on the color of the bioactive composite resin. The Post Hoc LSD test showed between the alcohol and non-alcohol mouthwash group, as well as alcohol and distilled water group had a significant difference, but not in the non-alcohol mouthwash and distilled water group. Conclusion: The immersion in both alcohol and non- alcohol mouthwash are significantly affecting the color changing in bioactive composite resin. Such disease is caused by the accumulation of the bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis where supporting therapy such as chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash 0.2% can be given. However, its use in the long term can have a negative effect on the oral cavity. There is a natural plant, namely water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) which contains compounds that can be used as antibacterial, such as: tannins, phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, terpenoids, and steroids. As a result of this, the water hyacinth plant can be used as an alternative herbal medicine. Purpose: To analyze the antibacterial effectiveness of water hyacinth leaf extract (Eichhornia crassipes) against the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. Methods: This study used True Experimental with posttest only with control group design. Antibacterial test was performed using liquid dilution method to determine MIC and solid dilution to determine MBC. Results: Based on the results and data analysis, it was found that the water hyacinth leaf extract had MIC at 1,56% and MBC at a concentration of 50%. The DMT-T index in Samuda Village, South Daha is 8,2. Caries is the destruction of hard surface of the teeth caused by multifactorial etiology, such as host, substrate, time, microorganisms and predisposing factors like tooth brushing behavior, dietary patterns and economic status. Objectives: Analyzed the relationship between tooth brushing behavior, dietary patterns, economic status and dental caries of South Daha population. Methods: This study was an observational analytic research with cross sectional research design. The population was 2,559 people of South Daha aged between 55-64 and 108 people was involved in this study based on simple random sampling technique. Results: Correlation test result, using Somers'd test to analyze the relationship between tooth brushing behavior and dental caries, is 0.000 (p <0.050), which means there is a relationship between tooth brushing behavior and dental caries with correlation strength is 0.582 (moderate). The correlation result between dietary patterns and dental caries is 0.000 (p <0.050) with correlation strength is 0.239 (weak), which means there is a weak relationship between dietary patterns and dental caries. The correlation between economic status and dental caries is 0.000 (p <0.050) with correlation strength is 0.353 (weak), which means there is a weak relationship between economic status and caries. Porphyromonas gingivalis is the predominant bacteria in chronic periodontitis. This disease is usually treated with 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash. However, 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate has several adverse effects, such as tooth discoloration, irritation of the oral mucosa, and changes in taste sensation. Therefore, an herbal-based mouthwash is needed. A combination of kelakai leaf and katuk leaf extract contains antibacterial substances such as flavonoid, tannin, steroid, alkaloid, and saponin, which can be used as an alternative therapy for chronic periodontitis. Purpose: To compare the inhibitory zone of kelakai and katuk extract combination with 0.2 Chlorhexidine gluconate against Porphyromonas gingivalis. Method: True experimental design with 13 treatment groups and 3 repetitions for each group. The treatment groups include combinations of kelakai leaf extract with 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% concentrations and katuk leaf extract with 20%, 40%, 80% concentrations and 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate, which were tested on Porphyromonas gingivalis with a total of 39 samples. The inhibitory zone is measured with caliper after incubated for 48 hours.  Results: One-Way ANOVA revealed significant differences between all treatment groups and 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate. Consequently, the Bonferroni post-hoc test was performed, which showed that the antibacterial activity of 75% kelakai leaf and 80% katuk leaf extract did not differ significantly from the activity of 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate. According to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia, the elderly is someone who reached age of 60 years and over. Based on data from BPS Indonesia in 2021, there are 29.3 million elderly in Indonesia and in South Daha District 3,534 elderly. Tooth loss can make the elderly vulnerable to decreased quality of life. Tooth loss cases will interfere with masticatory function and decreasing nutritional status. Objective: This study aims to analyze the correlation between tooth loss and nutritional status in the elderly in South Daha District. Methods: This study is a correlational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The research sample are 105 elderly. Data collection includes primary data that obtained through direct examination of the number of tooth and BMI. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate with the Spearman’s test. Results: The results showed that most of the respondents had a low level of tooth loss (43.8%) and normal nutritional status (58.1%). The Spearman test showed that there was a significant correlation between tooth loss and nutritional status. Chlorhexidine is the gold standard mouthwash and if used for a long period of time it can cause discoloration of the restoration because it contains chemicals, so an alternative mouthwash made from natural ingredients is needed. A mixture of mauli banana stem and basil leaves extract has a more optimal antibacterial ability. Objective: In general, this study aimed to analyze the effect of a mixture of Mauli banana stem (Musa acuminata) and basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) extracts on discoloration of the water settable GIC. Methods: This research is a true experimental research with pre test and post test designs with control group design. This study was divided into three treatments, namely water settable GIC soaked in a mixture of extracts of banana stems and basil leaves at concentrations of 75%, 100%, and 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate (positive control). Color measurement was carried out using a series of digital analysis tools consisting of a Samsung A1 macro camera, Peyond series PD-480 SL and the MATLAB application. Results: The results of the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test showed p value = 0.282 (> 0.05), meaning that there was no significant difference in color change between the three treatments. Mouthwash such as chlorhexidine is the main choice to prevent the colonization of caries-causing bacteria, but in long-term use it causes side effects, so that new, more biocompatible materials are needed, namely chitosan of Haruan fish scales (Channa striata), which contains an amine group (Nh2). Purpose: To analyze and compare the antibacterial effectiveness of chitosan haruan fish scales at concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10% with chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% on the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria. Method: True Experimental Laboratory Research with a procedure consisting of making chitosan from Haruan fish scales through the processes of deproteination, demineralization, and deacetylization followed by an antibacterial test with 5 treatment groups on the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria using the diffusion method with inhibition zone parameters on the test material. Result: Haruan fish scale chitosan has the lowest antibacterial effectiveness, namely a concentration of 2.5% with an average inhibition zone value of 8.6 mm, and the highest is a 10% concentration with an inhibition zone average value of 21.3 mm, and a concentration of Haruan fish scale chitosan. 10% had antibacterial effectiveness comparable to 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate against the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria. Streptococcus sanguinis act as an anchor for the attachment of oral organisms that colonize the surface of the teeth, forming plaque so that it becomes the development of gingivitis. Currently, many natural ingredients, as alternatives, have antibacterial effects. One of which is Eusideroxylon zwageri, because it contains flavonoids, tannins, phenolics, saponins, alkaloids, and terpenoids. Purpose: to compare the inhibitory effect between ulin bark extract and Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% against Streptococcus sanguinis. Method: True experimental research with post test only with control group design using ulin bark extract concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% and Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% as the K(+). The maceration method was used to extract ulin bark while the inhibitory test was using the diffusion method with 6 treatment groups and 4 replications, so that there were 24 samples. All treatment groups were incubated 24 hours at 37oC then measurement of inhibition zones was using callipers. Results: The results of the test showed that ulin bark extract concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%, and Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% obtained an average inhibition zone with diameter of 7.18 mm, 9.06 mm, 11.08 mm, 13 mm, 15.09 mm, and 18.14 mm. Analysis of One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Games-Howell data showed a significant difference between treatment groups.
