The object of the research is the semantic image of “music teacher” in the title of the famous novel by A. M. Remizov as a manifestation of the latent theme of continuity of generations in the environment of creative emigration. Music in this semantic field is a universal language uniting tradition, culture and modernity. 2. On the creation of two “musical” episodes. Based on the unknown letters of the musician and conductor N. L. Slonimsky, who belonged to the Parisian group of Remisov’s pupils, the article discovers the real subtexts of two stories devoted to the avant-garde music innovation and some experiments of the early 1930s within the novel. 2.1. Remizov and Varèse: on the typology of creative search. Author compares Remizov's intentions in transforming the form of autobiographical prose with the creative vector of composer Edgar Varèse and reveals similar features of modern culture. 2.2. Literary lesson for a professional musician. The image of Slonimsky in the structure of the novel Music teacher is related to the objectification of the equal force vector which defines similar tasks for literature and music art. The important conclusion of the article is an explanation of the significance of Alexander Blok’s image among denotatives of “music teacher” as an ideal creator able to perceive the historical time and culture by “inner hearing”.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU. The article explores the image of a trickster, and the peculiarity of its embodiment in world literature. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of assignment and functioning of the trickster image in modern Russian literature: from camp prose with its interest in the “naked man”, and the weirdos of traditionalism, to the characters created in the postmodern era. Results. The author analyses the reasons for and prospects of the emergence of the trickster hero, his ability to solve tragic problems facing its consciousness at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The author emphasizes the life-affirming and vital potential of the image, the possibilities inherent in it, the means of understanding and representing tragedy. The author analyses the change of the trickster's paradigm from one epoch and text to another, and presents the peculiarities of every cultural period. The author analyses the features of the modernist trickster, which becomes the initiator of events and the engine of the plot, and the concept of the postmodernist trickster, which differs significantly from his predecessors. The analysis of artistic texts shows that the trickster is used frequently due to its ambivalence and liminality, which meets the needs of the “crisis time”. Conclusion. The relevance of the figure of trickster is related, in particular, to the obvious fatigue of modern man from the “secondary” playful strategy of postmodernism, when the suspicion of irony is total, and to the enormous pressure that man feels and the trickster can alleviate.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU. The study was based on more than 1220 digitized sources – Russian dictionaries of linguistics terminology published from 1755 to 2021. S. V. Lesnikov introduces the concept of hyzaurus into scientific circulation. In fact, it is a digital ideographic dictionary of linguistics terminology providing hyperlinks designed to search for terms by their meanings. The monograph presents infographics, a systematic index of the hyzaurus, and the ability to search not only by keywords, but also by semantic fields and even by terminological paradigms. The authors of this article present a detailed scientific commentary on the letters of Tolstoy and Samarin, and explain many realities and facts that have not been given attention in Tolstoy studies. The dating of three Samarin's letters introduced into scientific circulation with analytical explanations of their place and role in the communication of correspondents has been carried out. The work uses biographical, comparative, historical and typological methods, hermeneutic and ontological methods. Conclusion. The article explores the almost unstudied fairy tale Kissel by M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin. There are no surveys on the story except for the writer’s comments on collected works. The key concept of the tale (kissel) is identified by the Soviet literature as a Russian man, while the problem is limited to denouncing “peoples’ lack of participation”. Results. As the genre of the tale Kissel is actually a parable, it is important to understand both literary and historical context. The historical context is represented by the rapid development of “wild” capitalism in post-reformed Russia, described in different publicistic series of 1870–1880s written by M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, as well as the emergence of the “Russian bourgeois” class (the satirist was very skeptical of the idea that the class could become a base for the new social order). The literary context is observed in the satirist’s works of 1870–1880s empathizing problems of predation, uncontrolled and merciless elimination of Russian natural resources, as well as the inability of Russian nobility to resist those social challenges. Those problems are characterized by the three main characters of the tale Kissel: the pig, the kissel and the lords personalizing concepts of “predation”, patriarchal peasantical Russia, and the cultural class losing its positions in social life. Conclusion. The author claims that the fairy tale Kissel by M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin is the satirist’s peculiar warning that such uncontrolled embezzlement of the country’s wealth (i.e. the pig eating kissel) might lead to painful consequences for the Russian society.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU. This genre is defined firstly by describing the life of no less than three families during a considerable span of history of a country, it also includes precise environmental details, such as dress and behavior, and exact dates of events against which the life of the heroes flows. Yet there are some differences in the choice of the narrator (whether it is the heroes themselves, or an objective observer of the events), the way of presenting time and space, ways of communication, etc. These differences are analyzed in the examples of four novels representing four literary traditions. The specifics of Russian literary tradition are also emphasized.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU. For scientists studying communication and for specialists who create texts, it is important to understand how you can evaluate the impact on the audience, the result of this impact. In this paper, the author made an attempt to combine practical knowledge in the field of text creation with a scientific approach to studying its effectiveness. Based on the functions inherent in the text, the author considers the very concept of text effectiveness, which is defined differently by different specialists. Different approaches to evaluating effectiveness are used in different communication areas: in journalism, PR, advertising, and literature. Results. The analysis made it possible to highlight the general and specific in modern approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of texts, to use traditional and new evaluation approaches in the preparation of high-quality messages. Conclusion. In general, based on the analysis, it was concluded that today in journalism, and in PR, and in advertising, and in literature, there is an expansion of economical opportunities for an objective assessment of texts. Their study and use allows the creators of modern texts to improve the quality of their work to communicate more effectively with their audience.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU. Some texts have been translated into another language multiple times. There are various reasons to compile a new translation of a previously translated text: some translators are not satisfied with the accuracy of the existing translations, while others try to create new interpretations. The study presents a comparative evaluation of translation equivalence on the base of one of Horace's odes, namely Ad Leuconoën (I:XI), and its 55 translations into Russian. Results. Detailed study of the problem revealed the impossibility of postulating a single scale of translation equivalence; at least for translations of a Latin poetic text, metrical, cultural, and semantic equivalence should be considered separately. The article describes the semantic equivalence. Our method is divided into two steps - semantic analysis and arithmetic calculations. First, in Horace's poem, we select 30 keywords, and then we define the actual semes for each of them in the original text and in the translations. Then we compare the semes and register the differences. At last, we determine the coefficient of semantic equivalence for every translation using the arithmetic means. Conclusion. High semantic equivalence does not always correlate with aesthetic perception. Moreover, earlier translations tend to have lesser equivalence.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU. The author considers the problem of establishing a correlation between lacunarity and neologization of the language system in the diachronic aspect using methods of semantic, contrastive, contextual, corpus and quantitative analysis. The material for the study is Russian writers’ epistolary texts of the second half of the 19th century. The author specifies the meaning of the term lacuna in relation to diachrony: a lacuna is an empty cell in the lexical system of a language, revealed retrospectively by detecting means that compensate for it. Results. The author’s classification of lacunae is based on a semiotic criterion: conceptual lacunae are empty cells in the lexical system, which are characterized by the absence of both the signifier and the signified (concept); lexical lacunae are empty cells in the lexical system, which lack a signifier, but have a non-verbalized signified that exists in public or individual consciousness. Conclusion. Extralinguistic and intra-linguistic factors determined the formation and compensation of communicatively significant lacunae in the lexical system at the level of language and speech: changes in the socio-political, economic, cultural life of Russia; interlanguage contacts; the need for nomination or re-designation of the concept; the laws of linguistic regularity, analogy, generalization and differentiation, economy, the tendency to expressiveness.","PeriodicalId":508489,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik NSU.
